Design of a CMOS Frequency Synthesizer for FRS Band (UHF FRS 대역 CMOS PLL 주파수 합성기 설계)

  • This paper reports a fractional-N phase-locked-loop(PLL) frequency synthesizer that is implemented in a $0.35-{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process and generates a quadrature signal for an FRS terminal. The synthesizer consists of a voltage-controlled oscillator(VCO), a charge pump(CP), loop filter(LF), a phase frequency detector(PFD), and a frequency divider. The VCO has been designed with an LC resonant circuit to provide better phase noise and power characteristics, and the CP is designed to be able to adjust the pumping current according to the PFD output. The frequency divider has been designed by a 16-divider pre-scaler and fractional-N divider based on the third delta-sigma modulator($3^{rd}$ DSM). The LF is a third-order RC filter. The measured results show that the proposed device has a dynamic frequency range of 460~510 MHz and -3.86 dBm radio-frequency output power. The phase noise of the output signal is -94.8 dBc/Hz, and the lock-in time is $300{\mu}s$.

  • This paper presents quasi-resonant type high power factor ac power supply for atmospheric pressure plasma cleaning system adopting three phase PFC boost converter and it's control method. The presented ac power supply consists of single phase H-bridge inverter, step-up transformer for generating high voltage and three phase PFC boost converter for high power factor on source utility. Unlikely to the traditional LC resonant converter, the propose one has an inductor inside only. A single resonant takes place through the inside inductor and the capacitor from the plasma load modeled into two series capacitor and one resistance. The quasi-resonant can be achieved by cutting the switching signal when the load current decrease to zero. To obtain power control ability, the propose converter controlled by two control schemes. One is the changing output pulse period scheme in the manner of PFM(Pulse Frequency Modulation) control. On the other, to provide more higher power to load, the DC rail voltage is directly controlled by the 3-phase PFC boost converter. The significant merits of the proposed converter are the uniform power providing capability for high quality plasma generation and low reactive power in AC and DC side. The proposed work is verified through digital simulation and experimental implementation.

Design of a Waveguide Band-Pass Filter Using a Modified H-type Resonant Iris (변형된 H-형 공진 아이리스를 이용한 도파관 대역 통과 여파기 설계)

  • In this paper, we studied a design method for a band-pass waveguide filter with a modified H-type resonant iris (RI) placed in a thin transverse wall of a rectangular waveguide. The horizontal straight gap at the center of a conventional H-shaped iris is modified to a U-shaped one to increase the equivalent capacitance, and the equivalent inductance is improved by changing the vertical two straight slots into C-shaped ones. A third-order band pass filter using the proposed modified H-shaped iris was designed and, it was observed that the filter operated in the frequency range of 9.22-9.75 GHz with its insertion loss of 0.5 dB and return loss of 17 dB.

  • 수 MW 이상의 인버터 시스템을 구성하기 위해서는 다수의 인버터가 LC필터 또는 LCL필터를 통해 PCC에 연결되어 계통과 연계된다. 이처럼 시스템의 대규모화가 진행되면서, 인버터간의 특성, 다양한 구성품들의 파라미터들로 인한 순환전류, THD 및 공진주파수에 따른 제어 오류 등 문제점을 점검해 볼 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 PSCAD를 통해 향후 대용량화 되는 계통을 모델링 하여 고려해야 할 사항의 확인이 필요하다.

  • 본 논문에서는 CSRR을 이용하여 0.5~1.5GHz 대역의 광대역 필터를 최적 설계 연구 하였다. Metamaterial의 일종인 CSRR은 LC 공진기 역할을 하며 전송선로와 결합하여 필터 특성을 나타낸다. 또한 높은 Q-factor의 특성을 갖기 때문에 협대역 대역통과 필터 특성을 갖는다. 이에 본 논문에서는 CSRR을 이용하여 광대역 대역통과 특성을 갑기 위해서 전송선로의 형태를 변형하고 진화알고리즘중 하나인 진화 전략기법을 이용하여 단일 셀의 최적 설계를 수행하였다. 이후 단위 셀을 다단으로 연결하여 최종 광대역 필터를 설계하였다. 본 논문에서 설계된 광대역 필터는 0.5~1.5GHz의 대역폭을 갖으며 00~00dB의 삽입손실을 갖는다. 그리고 저지대역에서 00~00dB의 저지 특성을 갖는다.

  • This paper describes a resonant fly-back converter for high-voltage de distribution system. The proposed converter operates to change high-voltage de into low-voltage de with isolation and large converting ratio. The converter has a thyristor switch with an LC resonant circuit for commutation in the primary side of the gap transformer. The operation of the proposed system was verified through computer simulations and hardware scaled-model tests. The proposed system can be implemented with commercially available components and proven technologies.

  • This paper describes a scaled model for PWM thyristor current-source inverter with a commutation circuit. The system consists of a 6-pulse thyristor bridge and an LC resonant circuit with thyristor switches, which offers thyristors to have turn-off capability for PWM operation with minimal switching losses. The proposed system can be used as a reactive power compensator with PWM operation for the utilitity application. There would be two advantages in the proposed system over the existing voltage source inverter. One is the low system cost due to using the conventional thyristors. Another is easy expansion of system operation voltage because th series operation of thyristor devices is already proven in HVDC system.

  • 본 논문에서는 AC-PDP 구동에 있어 효율적이며, 패널 전압을 빠르게 상승시킬 수 있어 현재 많이 이용되는 ADS 구동 방식에 적합한 에너지 회수 회로를 제안한다. 제안된 회로는 기존의 LC 순수 공진의 방식을 적용하여 에너지를 회수하는 방식 Weber 회로와 비교하여 제한적인 유지 기간 동안 동작 여유 마진을 증가시킬 수 있고, 픽셀의 ON$\cdot$OFF 상태와 상관없이 효율을 증가시킬 수 있다. 제안하는 회로를 기존의 Weber 회로와 비교하여 동작원리와 특징들을 분석하고, 7.5 인치 PDP 시작품을 이용하여 제안하는 회로의 타당성과 우수성을 검증하였다.

  • This study deals with a resonant converter of an anti-start air conditioner compressor for commercial vehicles. The anti-start air conditioner compressor must generally have a high current, high efficiency, a low volume, and a low weight. To reduce the switching losses and voltage and current stresses of the device, the anti-start air conditioner compressor applies the full-bridge L-C resonant converter topology. Hardware parameters are designed to have a wide voltage range, and the switching frequency range of the L-C resonant converter is determined. Simulation is implemented using PSIM and an experiment is performed to verify the proposed converter.

External Resonant Ignitior for HID Lamps by Using the Transformer (변압기를 이용한 외장형 HID 램프용 공진형 이그니터)

  • The electronic ballast for HID lamps needs high ignition voltage which is consisted of high voltage pulse ignitor. However, In the case of street lamp it is far from a lamp to a ballast, the conventional pulsed high voltage ignitor can not turn on the HID lamps because of reduction of ignition voltage. Therefore, it needs to do the research on a resonant ignition to turn on the HID lamps. However, the resonant circuit which is consisted of LC occurs over current, so the capacity of the ignitor increases. The capacity of the ignitor can be reduced by using the transformer. In this case, the capacitor for resonance is installed to the secondary of the transformer, and the capacitor needs high withstanding voltage. Therefore, it needs to do the research on a resonant ignition to reduce the voltage over the resonant capacitor by dividing the secondary of the transformer.
