PAAS LB 박막의 열자격 변위 전류에 관한 연구 (A study on the thermally-stimulated displacement current(TSDC) of the PAAS Langmuir-B1odgett(LB) films)

  • This paper describes a thennally stimulated displacement current(TSDC) of polyamic acid alkylamine salts(PAAS) Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films, which is a precursor of polyimide(PI). The TSDC measurements of PAAS LB film were performed from room temperature to about $250^{\circ}C$ and the temperature was increased at a rate of $0.2^{\circ}C/s$. This show that this is TSDC peaks at about $70^{\circ}C$ in the arachidic acid LB films, and at about $70^{\circ}C$ and $160^{\circ}C$ in the PAAS LB films. Results of this measurements indicate that one small peak at $70^{\circ}C$ is resulted from a softening of the alkyl group and the large peak at $160^{\circ}C$ is possibly due to dipole moment of C-O group in the PAAS molecule. We have calculated the vertical component of dipole moment of the P AAS LB film out of the TSDC curves. It shows that the dipole moment of PAAS LB film is about -40mD at $70^{\circ}C$ and about 200mD at $160^{\circ}C$ in the first measurement of TSDC. In the second measurement of TSDC of PAAS LB film after cooling down to room temperature, the TSDC peaks are almost disappeared.

  • We fabricated tetra(5-n-nonyl-8-tert-butyl-2,3-pyrazino[2,3-b]indolo)porphyrazinato copper(II) (Cu-Pc-$C_8$) Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. We further investigated the influence of arachidic acid (AA) as a transfer promoter, as well as the effect of dipping speed, on the deposition of the films on hydrophilic and hydrophobic substrates. In the case of pure Cu-Pc-$C_8$ LB deposition on a hydrophilic substrate, the transfer ratio was close to one for up-stroke depositions, but the previously deposited film was peeled off and re-spread onto water at down-stroke depositions. Whereas the stability of the Cu-Pc-$C_8$ LB films was not improved by AA addition on hydrophilic substrates, the deposition of Cu-Pc-$C_8$ was significantly improved by the presence of AA on a hydrophobic substrate. The AA-assisted deposition had transfer ratio of close to 1 and was essentially stable up to 10-layer depositions. Comparison of the UV-visible spectrum of a Cu-Pc-$C_8$/AA LB film with that of Cu-Pc-$C_8$/AA solution in dichloroethane revealed that the Soret and Q bands for the Cu-Pc-$C_8$/AA LB film were broadened and red-shifted due to the aggregation of phthalocyanines upon assembly in the LB film.

  • Electron transfer through an Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) monolayer film sandwiched between metal electrodes. We used an eicosanoic acid material and the material was very famous as a thin film insulating material. Eicosanoic acid monolayer was deposited by Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique and a subphase was a $CdCl_2$ solution as a 2${\times}10^{-4}$ mol/L. Also we used a bottom electrode as an Al/$Al_2O_3$ and a top electrode as a Al and Ti/Al. Here, the $Al_2O_3$ on the bottom electrode was deposited by thermal evaporation method. The $Al_2O_3$ layer was acted on a tunneling barrier and insulating layer in tunnel diode. It was found that the proper transfer surface pressure for film deposition was 25 mN/m and the limiting area per molecule was about 24 ${\AA}^2$/molecule. When the positive and negative bias applied to the molecular device, the behavior shows that a tunnel switching characteristics. This result were analyzed regarding various mechanisms.

  • The LB technique is one of the most powerful fabricating methods of organic ultra-thin film, which deposits a monolayer films in molecular level on the surface of the substrate. We have investigated the electrical characteristics of Myristic acid, Stearic acid and Arachidic acid LB films for horizontal direction to develop for the gas sensor. The optimum conditions for a film deposition were obtained by measurement of $\pi$-A isotherm. The status of the deposited film was confirmed by measurement of UV absorbance. We could distingished the difference of I-V characteristics for the fatty acid for the horizontal direction. The conductivity of fatty acid LB films for horizontal direction was 10$^{-7}$ ~ 10$^{-9}$ [S/cm] that mean like semiconductor.

  • A molecular photodiode was fabricated with hetero-Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) film consisting of an electron accepter(A) and sensitizer. N-Allyl-N-[3-propylamido-N\",N\"-야(n-octadecyl)]-4,4-bipyridum Dibromide and 7,8-dimethyl-10-dodecyl isoalloxan-zine were used as A and S units, respectively. By aligning hefter-LB film of A/S units on ITO glass with an aluminium thin film, a molecular photodiode with the structure of Metal/Insulator/Metal(MIM) was constructed. Due to excitation by irradiation with a 460nm monochromatic light source, the photo-induced unidirectional flow of electrons in the MIM device could be achieved and was detected as photocurrents. The direction of energy flow was in accordance with the energy level profile across the LB films. The photo switching function was achieved and the rectifying characteristics was obserbed in the molecular devise.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method have been used by many rescarcher because of its facility to control the thickness of film as molecular order and orientation of molecular. We fabricated MIM device using copolymer LB films of $2C_{18}MA-VE_2$ and elecctrical conduction mechanism in ultra-thin LB film were investigated. In our experimental results, the maleate copolymer LB film have the properity of insulator like organic ultra-thin fiim. Its diclcctric constant was about 3.5 and its voltage generation about 0.1 Volt. And Schottky current was apeared as electrical conduction current and Schottky barrier was about 0.9(eV).

  • The pressure-area isotherm of monolayer at the air-water interface were obtained and the LB films were fabricated onto a quartz slides and quartz crystal by conventional Langmuir-Blodggett(LB) method. The UV absorption spectra of Langmuir-Blodggett(LB) film on quartz slides and spectrum of monolayer formed on quartz crystal have been measured. The photoisomerization of the long-chain fatty avid containing azobenzene were obtained by the application of UV and visible light. The reversibility of photoisomerization were more clear difference when the number of C$\_$n/ increased. At the pressure-area isotherms, the value of surface pressure increment were decreased when the number of C$\_$n/ increased, A surface pressure of 20mN/m was obtained as a proper one for a film deposition. The photoisomerization at LB films were also obtained by application of UV and visible light. So the LB film of long-chain fatty acid containing azobenzene has possibility to being applies to functional molecular devices such as photomemory and light switching.

  • We fabricated the QCM with Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) film deposited at the different subphase pH and investigated the resonant frequency response by the injection of organic gas response. In the $\pi$-A isotherms, the monolayer on the air/water interface had different limiting area per molecule and showed more condensed status as increasing the subphase pH. When palmitic acid LB film was deposited on the QCM, the resonant frequency shift was proportional to the deposited layer and had more resonant frequency shift in the case of the higher pH range as expected. In the resonant frequency for the injection of organic gas, it has been improved in the case of LB film fabricated at the lower subphase pH range and dependant upon the molecular weight of organic gas.

  • Protein A molecular thin film was fabricated as a platform of antibody-based biosensor. For the immobilization of the protein A thin film, a viologen multilayer was built up using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique, and then, protein A was adsorbed on the viologen LB film by an electrostatic interaction force, which was formed as a hetero-film structure. For the deposition of viologen, surface pressure area ($\pi$-A) isotherm was investigated. The fabricated protein A-viologen hetero LB film was investigated using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Using the developed molecular film, antibody immobilization and fluorescence measurement was carried out.

  • We have investgated the photoisomerization using light irradiation 8A5H-phospholipid( L-$\alpha$-dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine[DMPC], L-$\alpha$-dilauroylphosphatidylcholine[DLPC]mixture LB film accumulated by monolayer on an ITO. We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system, An Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode measured in $NaClO_{4}$ solution at a variable concentration and variable number layers LB film. The scan rate was 100mV/s.
