Performance Analysis of WAP Packet Considering Multi-Slot SAR-QT Algorithm in Bluetooth Ad hoc Network (Bluetooth Ad hoc 망에서 멀티 슬롯 SAR-QT 알고리즘을 고려한 WAP 패킷의 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, it is analyzed that WAP packet transmission time to improve performance of WAP using SAR-QT algorithm in Bluetooth channel. The order for SAR-QT algorithm to improve the transfer capability, it is fragmented in WTP total messages that are coming down from upper layer and then the packets are sent one at time in baseband. And it is studied that transmission time for WAP over Bluetooth according to DMI, DM3 or DM5 packet type using SAR-QT algorithm in Bluetooth piconet environment. This SAR-QT algorithm decreases WAP packet transmission time of L2CAP baseband packets by sending packet that are spanning multiple slots. From the results, in WAP over Bluetooth channels, it is found out that WTP packet size ought to be increased to decrease transmission time of WAP packet. In addition, considering BER in wireless channel, optimal WTP packet size is achieved for WAP over Bluetooth in a Rician fading environment.

  • Experiments were conducted to find out the optimum condition for in vitro proliferation using shoot tip of Gypsophila paniculata. Formation and fresh weight of adventitious shoots were promoted by shoot culture with $0.2mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ BA and $0.2mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA in 'Bristol Fairy', while were promoted with $0.2mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ BA and $0.1mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA in 'Red Sea'. Vitrification was suppressed by using $7{\times}13cm $ $(diameter{\times}height)$ vessel. Aeration treatment on cap and agar concentration did not affect vitrification, but promoted the elongation of adventitious shoots. Formation of adventitious shoot was inhibited by increasing agar concentration in the medium.

Pathological Properties of Cryptococcus pseudolongus on the Mycelia and Fruit Body of Lentinula edodes

  • Recently, Cryptococcus pseudolongus has been reported as a new pathogen of shiitake (Lentinula edodes). However, its pathological properties are not much known. To further understand its impact on the mushroom, we investigated the pathogen's interactions with the mycelium of shiitake, histopathological properties, host range, and sensitivity to diverse antifungal agents. The strain C. pseudolongus DUCC 4014 inhibited the mycelial growth of L. edodes strain (cultivar Sanjo 701ho) and caused browning in the mycelia confronted with the yeast on PDA. Spray inoculation of the yeast caused an abnormal browning symptom on the cap and/or gills of three shiitake cultivars grown on sawdust media in vinyl bags. Scanning electron microscopic images of the abnormally browned parts of shiitake fruit body illustrated that mushroom tissues were loosed and dispersed in the middle and edge of the cap and the arrangement of basidiospores borne on basidia in the gills was disturbed compared to those of normal shiitake fruit body. Spray inoculation also led to developing abnormal browning on the harvested fruit body, indicating C. pseudolongus could be a problem during mushroom storage. But the yeast was not able to induce abnormal browning on mushrooms of Pleurotus ferulae, Pleurotus fostreatus, and Agaricus bisporus. But it induced browning only on button mushroom (A. bisporus) when they were inoculated after wounding. Tests with 16 kinds of fungicides revealed that the cell growth of C. pseudolongus could be inhibited by benzalkonium chloride at MIC 7 ㎍/ml and benomyl at MIC 3 ㎍/ml.

Measurement of 1,4-dioxane in surface water by headspace GC-MS (GC-MS에 의한 지표수에서 1,4-Dioxane의 측정)

  • 1,4-Dioxane was classified as a Group 2B carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The compound was measured in surface water with a headspace gas chromatographic mass spectrometric detection. A 5 mL water sample was placed in a 10 mL headspace vial and saturated with NaCl, and the solution was spiked with 1,4-dioxane-d8 as an internal standard and sealed with a cap. Water samples were collected from twenty-two basins of Gum-River on June and September 2012, respectively. As a result, 1,4-dioxane was detected in the concentration range of $0.49-43.0{\mu}g/L$ (mean $2.0{\mu}g/L$) in the frequency of about 30% in surface water samples.

Determination of MTBE, TBA and BTEX in Soil by Headspace Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry

  • A headspace gas chromatographic mass spectrometric (GC-MS) assay method was developed for the simultaneous determination of methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), $tert$-butyl alcohol (TBA) and benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylene (BTEX) in soil contaminated with gasoline. 2 g of soil sample were placed in a 10 mL headspace vial filled with 5 mL of phosphoric acid solution (pH 3) saturated with NaCl, and the solution was spiked with fluorobenzene as an internal standard and sealed with a cap. The vial was heated in a heating block for 40 min at $80^{\circ}C$. The detection limits of the assay were 0.08-0.12 ${\mu}g$/kg for the analytes. For five independent determinations at 10 and 50 ${\mu}g$/kg, the relative standard deviations were less than 10%. The method was used to analyze fifty six soil samples collected from various regions contaminated with gasoline in Korea. The developed method may be valuable for the monitoring of the analytes in soil.

Development and Application of SATEEC L Module for Slope Length Adjustment Based on Topography Change

  • Severe sediment-laden problem has been the hot issue in Korea. It was assumed that agricultural activities and landslides were the primary causes of these problems in watersheds. The USLE-based systems have been widely used in soil erosion studies. However the GIS-based USLE modeling system has limitation in USLE L factors. In this study, the SATEEC L module was developed to reflect the slope length segmentations in the fields. The SATEEC L module was applied to the study watershed to analyze the effects of using the SATEEC L module on estimated sediment. As shown in the comparisons between SATEEC estimated sediment with SWAT values, the SATEEC GA-SDR module derives the SDR with reasonably acceptable accuracies. However, it is worthy to note that the soil erosion using the SATEEC L module for the study watershed was lower than that without using the SATEEC L module by 25%, although the SATEEC estimated sediment values with and without using L module match the SWAT sediment values with similar accuracies. This is because the SATEEC GA-SDR module estimates lower SDR in case of greater soil erosion estimation without the L module and greater SDR in case of lower soil erosion estimation with the L module. This indicates that the SATEEC input parameters, especially L factor, need to be prepared with care for accurate estimation of SDR at a watershed scale and for accurate evaluation of BMPs in the watershed.

The study on the measurement of formaldehyde in saliva and urine by GC-MS (가스크로마토그래프-질량분석기에 의한 타액 및 뇨 중 포름알데하이드 분석법 연구)

  • A gas chromatography-mass spectrometric method was developed for the determination of formaldehyde in urine and saliva. In a 20 mL glass tube, 0.2 mL of urine or saliva was taken. Further, 1.8 mL of 0.1 M HCl, 0.1 mL of 2,000 mg/L 2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine and $20{\mu}l$ of 500 mg/L acetone-$d_6$ as internal standard were added in the tube and sealed tightly with cap. The solution was shaken for 20 min at room temperature and extracted using 4 mL of toluene. The extract was concentrated and redissolved with $100{\mu}l$ of acetonitrile, and then measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (selected ion monitoring). The detection limit was 2.0 ng/mL and 0.5 ng/mL in saliva and urine, respectively. The calibration curves showed good linearity with r = 0.997 and 0.998 for saliva and urine, respectively. The method was used to analyze formaldehyde in rat urine after oral exposure. The developed method may be use ful to the monitoring for formaldehyde exposure in human.

In Vitro Development of Porcine Parthenogenetic Embryos under the Oil-free Culture System

  • Optimization of the preimplantation mammalian embryo culture condition was widely focused on refining medium composition under the name of chemically defined media. However, recent research revealed that the alteration of physical environment can be a crucial factor to a successful embryo development. In this study, under the same embryo density, a novel culture device named oil-free micro tube culture (MTC) system was evaluated using porcine parthenogenetic embryos. The activated oocytes were placed into the 0.2 ml thin-wall flat cap PCR tube and cultured to the blastocyst stage. As a preliminary step, embryo density and culture medium volume were optimized under a standard drop culture system. The optimal embryo density range for in vitro culture was 0.5 embryos per ${\mu}l$ in $20\;{\mu}l$ drop (20.5%) and 1.0 embryos per ${\mu}l$ in $10\;{\mu}l$ drop (20.6%). Based on these results, we compared drop culture system and 'MTC' system in terms of the developmental rate to the blastocyst stage. In $20\;{\mu}l$ medium volume, the 'MTC' system showed similar blastocyst formation rate when compared with drop culture system (20.2% versus 20.5%, respectively) while the 'MTC' system showed lower blastocyst formation rate than drop culture system in $10\;{\mu}l$ one (12.7% versus 20.0%, respectively). Therefore the $20\;{\mu}l$ MTC system may be an alternative incubation system for short-distance embryo transport without carrying the $CO_2$ incubator and this provides novel embryo culture device to clinical veterinary embryologists.

Analysis of tert-Butanol, Methyl tert-Butyl Ether, Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene in Ground Water by Headspace Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry

  • Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) is added to gasoline to enhance the octane number of gasoline, tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) is major degradation intermediate of MTBE in environment, and benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylene (BTEX) are also major constituents of gasoline. In this study, a simplified headspace analysis method was adapted for simultaneous determination of MTBE, TBA and BTEX in ground water samples. The sample 5.0 mL and 2 g NaCl were placed in a 10 mL vial and the solution was spiked with fluorobenzene as an internal standard and sealed with a cap. The vial was placed in a heating block at 85 $^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. The detection limits of the assay were 0.01 ${\mu}$g/L for MTBE and BTEX, and 0.02 ${\mu}$g/L for TBA. The method was used to analyze 110 ground water samples from various regions in Korea, and to survey the their background concentration in ground water in Korea. The samples revealed MTBE concentrations in the range of 0.01 - 0.45 ${\mu}$g/L (detection frequency of 57.3%), TBA concentrations in the range of 0.02 - 0.08 ${\mu}$g/L (detection frequency of 5.5%), and total BTEX concentrations in the range of 0.01 - 2.09 ${\mu}$g/L (detection frequency of 87.3%). The developed method may be used when simultaneously determining the amount of MTBE, TBA and BTEX in water.
