  • Headspace (HS) and headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) were studied for extracting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from whole blood, with chemical and instrumental variables being optimized for maximum sensitivity: incubation at $60^{\circ}C$, equilibration for 30 min, pH 11, and 2 mL injection volume. Both techniques provided accurate analyses, with detection limits of 0.05-0.1 ng $mL^{-1}$ and 0.05-0.5 ng $mL^{-1}$. HS showed better sensitivity, reproducibility, and analysis times than HS-SPME. Overall levels of chloroform in whole blood were found to be 0.05-5.84 ng $mL^{-1}$; detected levels of benzene were 0.05-2.20 ng $mL^{-1}$.

  • In this present paper, we consider four integrals and differentials containing the Gauss' hypergeometric 2F1(x) function in the kernels, which extend the classical Riemann-Liouville (R-L) and Erdélyi-Kober (E-K) fractional integral and differential operators. Formulas (images) for compositions of such generalized fractional integrals and differential constructions with the n-times product of the generalized modified Bessel function of the second type are established. The results are obtained in terms of the generalized Lauricella function or Srivastava-Daoust hypergeometric function. Equivalent assertions for the Riemann-Liouville (R-L) and Erdélyi-Kober (E-K) fractional integral and differential are also deduced.

  • For a prime number p, let $\mathbb{Q}_p$ denote the p-adic field and let $\mathbb{Q}_p^d$ denote a vector space over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ which consists of all d-tuples of $\mathbb{Q}_p$. For a function f ${\in}L_{loc}^1(\mathbb{Q}_p^d)$, we define the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function of f on $\mathbb{Q}_p^d$ by $$M_pf(x)=sup\frac{1}{\gamma{\in}\mathbb{Z}|B_{\gamma}(x)|H}{\int}_{B\gamma(x)}|f(y)|dy$$, where |E|$_H$ denotes the Haar measure of a measurable subset E of $\mathbb{Q}_p^d$ and $B_\gamma(x)$ denotes the p-adic ball with center x ${\in}\;\mathbb{Q}_p^d$ and radius $p^\gamma$. If 1 < q $\leq\;\infty$, then we prove that $M_p$ is a bounded operator of $L^q(\mathbb{Q}_p^d)$ into $L^q(\mathbb{Q}_p^d)$; moreover, $M_p$ is of weak type (1, 1) on $L^1(\mathbb{Q}_p^d)$, that is to say, |{$x{\in}\mathbb{Q}_p^d:|M_pf(x)|$>$\lambda$}|$_H{\leq}\frac{p^d}{\lambda}||f||_{L^1(\mathbb{Q}_p^d)},\;\lambda$ > 0 for any f ${\in}L^1(\mathbb{Q}_p^d)$.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the relationship of low urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), depression, sexual function, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL), and to identify factors influencing HRQoL in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) living in the community. Methods: A total of 218 patients with BPH were recruited into the study. The data were collected by personal interviews using questionnaires and were analyzed with SPSS (version 17.0) computer program, and included descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results: The relationship between HRQoL and LUTS with depression had a significant negative correlation, whereas the relationship between HRQoL and sexual function had a significant positive correlation. Depression, age, LUTS, number of chronic disease, and excercise were found to be significant predictors (35.6%) of the Physical Component Summary of HRQoL. Depression, stress, smoking, LUTS, and sexual function were found to be significant predictors (48.2%) of the Mental Component Summary of HRQoL. Conclusion: To improve HRQoL of patients with BPH, nurses should focus on the factors identified in this study when doing nursing assessments, and should develop nursing intervention programs for BPH prevention and symptoms management in primary care settings.

  • Image super-resolution (SR) processing is of great value in the fields of digital image processing, intelligent security, film and television production and so on. This paper proposed a densely connected deep learning network based on cascade architecture, which can be used to solve the problem of super-resolution in the field of image quality enhancement. We proposed a more efficient residual scaling dense block (RSDB) and the multi-channel cascade architecture to realize more efficient feature reuse. Also we proposed a hybrid loss function based on L1 error and L error to achieve better L error performance. The experimental results show that the overall performance of the network is effectively improved on cascade architecture and residual scaling. Compared with the residual dense net (RDN), the PSNR / SSIM of the new method is improved by 2.24% / 1.44% respectively, and the L performance is improved by 3.64%. It shows that the cascade connection and residual scaling method can effectively realize feature reuse, improving the residual convergence speed and learning efficiency of our network. The L performance is improved by 11.09% with only a minimal loses of 1.14% / 0.60% on PSNR / SSIM performance after adopting the new loss function. That is to say, the L performance can be improved greatly on the new loss function with a minor loss of PSNR / SSIM performance, which is of great value in L error sensitive tasks.

  • We study Samelson products on models of function spaces. Given a map $f:X{\rightarrow}Y$ between 1-connected spaces and its Quillen model ${\mathbb{L}}(f):{\mathbb{L}}(V){\rightarrow}{\mathbb{L}}(W)$, there is an isomorphism of graded vector spaces ${\Theta}:H_*(Hom_{TV}(TV{\otimes}({\mathbb{Q}}{\oplus}sV),{\mathbb{L}}(W))){\rightarrow}H_*({\mathbb{L}}(W){\oplus}Der({\mathbb{L}}(V),{\mathbb{L}}(W)))$. We define a Samelson product on $H_*(Hom_{TV}(TV{\otimes}({\mathbb{Q}}{\oplus}sV),{\mathbb{L}}(W)))$.

  • Fuzzy L.P. with Multi-criteria function is adopted in this VAR planning algorithm to accomplish the optimization of comflicting objectives, such as the amount of the VAR installed and power system loss, while keeping the bus voltage profile within an admissible range. Fuzzy L.P. with Multi-criteria function, a powerful tool dealing with the fuzziness of satisfaction levels of the constraints and the goal of objective functions, enables us to search for the solutions which may contribute in VAR planning. This advantage is not provided by traditional standardized L.P. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been verified by the test on the IEEE-30 bus system.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine correlations among UPDRS, respiratory function, and senior fitness and to investigate the effects of restrictive respiratory function on these factors in Parkinson's disease patients. Methods: Subjects (n=25, Hoehn & Yahr (H&Y) stage: 2-3, $69.3{\pm}5.9$ yrs) from D Hospital Parkinson's Disease Center at Busan metropolitan area in the Republic of Korea volunteered for this study. They performed the pulmonary function test, UPDRS, and the senior fitness test. SPSS 18.0 was used for analysis of data, and the collected data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient (n=25). In addition, Independent t-test was used for determination of differences between two groups (between the normal pulmonary function group (n=10) and the restrictive pulmonary function group (n=10)). Results: Forced vital capacity (FVC (L)) showed significant negative correlation (r=-0.44, p<0.05) with H&Y stage in Parkinson's disease patients, and chair stand showed significant negative correlations (r=0.41, 0.43, 0.42, p<0.05) with FVC (L), FVC (%), and FEV1 (L). FVC (%) showed significant positive correlations (r=0.44, r=0.44, p<0.05) with right and left back scratch. In addition, the restrictive respiratory function group showed significantly lower FVC (%) (p<0.01) and was significantly slower (p<0.05) in the 8-foot up-and-go test than the normal respiratory function group. Conclusion: In conclusion, these results suggest that restrictive respiratory function in PD was related to H&Y stage. In addition, agility of PD patients was lower in the restrictive respiratory function group than in the normal function group.
