Growth of highly purified carbon nanotubes by thermal chemical vapor deposition (열화학기상증착법에 의한 고순도 탄소나노튜브의 성장)

  • We have synthesized carbon nanotubes by thermal chemical vapor deposition of $C_2H_2$ on transition metal-coated silicon substrates. Carbon nanotubes are uniformly synthesized on a large area of the plain Si substrates, different from Previously reported porous Si substrates. It is observed that surface modification of transition metals deposited on substrates by either etching with dipping in a HF solution and/or $NH_3$ pretreatment is a crucial step for the nanotube growth prior to the reaction of $C_2H_2$ gas. We will demonstrate that the diameters of carbon naotubes can be controlled by applying the different transition metals.

A Study on Development Strategies for Kunsan Port : Focused on trade with China (군산항만의 발전전략에 관한 연구-대 중국교역을 중심으로-)

  • The establishment of the WTO system means that the global age of trade has officially arrived. Since the integration of the world economy brings about the free movement of goods and services between nations, it is inevitable that sea-bound freight will continue to increase. A recent World Bank report says that China and Korea will be the first and seventh largest economic Powers, respectively, by the year 2020. In particular, the Korea peninsula has a geo-political advantage in being developed as a major Northeast Asian container center. Moreover China's swift uprising needs new order of trade for economy belt in Northeast Asia. Therefore, it can be said that Kunsan Port. which has already been designated as a free trade zone, has greater potential to rise as a regional beach-head port and main region for foreign investment. As such. Kunsan Port will play a major role in accelerating the emergence of the West Sea in international trade. There are several strategies for developing Kunsan Port into a central container port: 1) develop Kunsan port Into an import/export front base f3r multinational corporations, 2) develop Kunsan container port into the core composite container-linked central port, 3) attract foreign investment to the Kunsan Free Trade Area so as to promote balanced development among the regions of Korea, 4) support the central government and local governments to accelerate the coming of the "West Sea Era." These recommendations call for urgent implementation.

  • Vibrio alginolyticus, a marine fish and shellfish pathogen, has been found at a high frequency around the coastal areas of Korea. Vibrio alginolyticus was purified from various diseased fish, and a V. alginolyticus-specific bacteriophage was isolated from seawater obtained from fish farms located on the west coast of Korea. In a bacterial lysis experiment using the phage and antibiotics, tetracycline, $10^3$ cfu/ml of V. alginolyticus were completely lysed by both the phage and the antibiotic, suggesting that the purified phage in the study could be utilized as an alternative to antibiotics in the control of fish and shellfish diseases caused by V. alginolyticus.

  • 이 논문에서는 다종 재배 환경을 고려한 이동형 스마트팜 모니터링 로봇을 제안한다. 기존 스마트 농장 연구는 각 구역마다 고정형 측정 장치를 이용하여 데이터를 수집한다. 또한 고정형 센서 기반 스마트 농장이므로 다종, 다수의 센서가 필요하다는 문제점이 있다. 이 논문에서 제안하는 것은 기존의 스마트 농장과는 달리 스마트팜 모니터링 로봇은 농장의 모든 구역을 이동을 하며 데이터를 측정, 수집한다. 그리고 수집한 데이터를 웹 페이지를 통해 시각화한다. 그 결과 제안한 시스템을 통해 자동으로 이동 및 측정을 하여 다종의 재배 환경에서도 안정적으로 정확한 측정이 가능하다는 장점이 있다.

  • 이 논문에서는 라즈베리파이카메라를 이용하여 실내 흡연감지를 실시간으로 모니터링하는 시스템을 제안한다. 기존에 라즈베리파이에 가스센서를 SPI 통신으로 연결하여 실외 흡연감지 기능을 제공하는 시스템에 대한 연구가 진행되었다. 그러나 기존의 시스템은 부정확한 센서 값의 원인과 흡연이 감지되어도 흡연자를 조치하는 부분에 대한 문제점이 있다. 이 논문에서 제안하는 것은 연기센서, 가스센서를 시리얼통신으로 연결하여 공공장소 실내 흡연여부를 판단해 라즈베리파이카메라를 사용하여 실시간으로 흡연감지 하는 시스템을 제안한다. 이 논문에서 제안 시스템은 공공장소에서 실내흡연을 감지하고 이미지조회기능으로 보다 더 신뢰성있는 흡연감지 시스템에 대해 기대된다.

Estimating the lateral profile of helical piles using modified p-y springs

  • A growing trend of utilizing helical piles for soft soil strata to support infrastructure projects is currently observed in Saemangeum, South Korea. Recognized mainly due to its ease of installation and reusability proves to be far more superior compared to other foundation types in terms of sustainability. This study applies modified p-y springs to characterize the behavior of a laterally loaded helical pile with a shaft diameter of 89.1 mm affixed with 3 helices evenly spaced along its embedded length of 2.5 m. Geotechnical soil properties are correlated from CPT data near the test bed vicinity and strain gauges mounted on the shaft surface. A modification factor is applied on the p-y springs to adjust the simulated data and match it to the bending moment, soil resistance and deflection values from the strain gauge measurements. The predicted lateral behavior of the helical pile through the numerical analysis method shows fairly good agreement to the recorded field test results.
