  • This paper deals with the design problem of model reference adaptive controllers for MIMO plants with unknown orders. A design scheme for an adaptive control system based on CGT theorem, which has hierarchical structures derived from backstepping strategies, is proposed for MIMO plants with unknown orders but with known relative MacMillan degrees(relative degrees for SISO plants). It is also shown that all the signals in the resulting control system are bounded, and that the asymptotic tracking is achieved in the case where reference inputs are step.

  • As the population of persons over the age of sixty-five is rapidly growing, the population of solitary senior person living at own home is growing in Japan. This situation has caused the social issue of how supports their healthy life. There have been some projects related to improve their quality of life and support their healthy life. Unfortunately mostly they focus the method of measuring vital signal and observing behavior. Nobody reports how utilize the measured data. Aim of our project is how find emergency of the aged people at home. As emergency is big different from regular life behavior, we have to recognize it. We propose concept of the human behavior model and show the some types human behavior knowledge constructed by observed human behavior model and show the some types human behavior knowledge constructed by observed human behavior. This idea is based on human having habitual life. And we discuss the possibility of finding emergency using knowledge and observed data.

  • This paper is concerned with the design method of a de-centralized linear control system and its application to vibration control of multi degree of freedom structures. The method is based on the partial model matching on frequency domain by minimizing the relative model error functions between the diagonal elements of the open loop transfer function matrix of the control system and these of the reference model. The method is examined and evaluated by both simulation and experiment of a multi degree of freedom structure(MDFS).

  • In this paper, very simple methods based on the exponential analysis are presented by which transfer function models for processes can easily be obtained. These methods employ step responses or impulse responses of the processes. These can also give a more precise transfer function model compared to the well-known graphical methods. Transfer functions are determined based on Prony method, which is one of the oldest and the most representative methods in the exponential analysis. Here, the method is reformed and applied to obtain the so-called low-order transfer function with pure time delay from the data of the step response. The effectiveness of the proposed method is examined through several numerical examples and experiments of the 2-tank level control process.

  • The importance of e-Learning, which supports to study anywhere and anytime, has been pointed out for improving education. There have been various research papers on e-Learning system for educations. Most of literatures have focused on guiding the student or measuring understanding their level etc. Design method of e-Learning system has not been discussed based on structure and analysis of the class. In this paper, scheme of the class is proposed by analyzing and structuring class, then design method of e-Learning system is discussed based on it.

  • This paper proposes modeling of human behavior and a method of finding irregular human behavior. At first, human behavior model is proposed by paying attention to habitual human behavior at home. Generally, it is difficult to obtain the information of individual life pattern because of high cost for setting sensors such as cameras to observe human action. Therefore we capture turning on/off consumer electronic equipments as actual human behavior action, where some or many consumer electric equipments were used such as television, room light, video and so on in our daily life. Noting that are some relations between turning on/off those consumer electric equipments and our action, we proposes how to construct a human behavior knowledge by analyzing human behavior based on observation of human habitual life. Also an algorithm to identify on find irregular behavior different from habitual life behavior are described. Finally, the significance of the proposed method is shown by some experimental results.

  • It is known that Volterra kernel model can represent a wide variety of nonlinear chemical processes. But almost all Volterra kernel models which appeared in the literature are up to second order, because it was difficult to measure higher order Volterra kernels. Kashiwagi has recently shown a method for measuring Volterra kernels up to third order using pseudorandom M-sequence signals. In this paper, the authors verified the applicability of this method for chemical processes using polymerization reactor simulation. Also, the authors have recently proposed a practical Identification method for chemical processes, which is based on the combination of off-line nonlinear identification and on-line linear identification. This method is also applied to the identification of polymerization reactor, and we obtained ...

  • Surrounding noise often affects the performance of speech recognition system when it is used in office or home. Especially situation is more serious when colored and nonstational noise such as an sound from television or other audio equipment is introduced. The authors proposed a voice control system for television set using an adaptive noise canceler, and it works well even is sound of television set has comparable level of speech. In this paper, a new front-end of speech recognition is introduced for the voice control system. This font-end utilizes a simplified masking model to reduce the effect of residual noise. According to experimental results, 90% correct recognition is achieved even if the level of television sound is almost 15dB higher than one of speech.

  • The concept of dissipativity and passivity are of interest to us from a theoretical as well as a practical point of view. It is well known that the Riccati equation is derived from the dissipation inequality which expresses the fact that the system is dissipative; the energy stored inside the system doesn't exceed the amount of supply which flows into the system. The pencil model is regarded as a representation based on behavioral approach introduced by J.C. Willems. It has first order in the internal variable and zeroth order in the external variable. In general, any matrix pencil is transformed into a canonical form which is consist of several kind of sub-pencils, One of them has row full rank for $^\forall S\;\in\;\mathds{C}\;\bigcup{\infty}$, we call it under-determined mode of the model. In our opinion, most important properties of dynamical system lay in the mode. According to the properties of canonical form for pencil, it is shown that the storage function which characterizes the dissipativity of the system can be written as a LMI for the under-determined mode, if the system doesn't include impulse mode.

  • This paper presents a discrete-time model reference adaptive control technique for periodically time-varying plants. It is shown that the identification problem for periodic parameters can be reduced to that of constant unknown parameters case. The global stability of the resulting closed-loop system is established using the key technical lemma of Goodwin, Ramadge and Caines.
