  • This study analyzed the pattern of preschool children's abilities based on Project Spectrum and compared the relationship between intelligence domains with working styles of children. Generally, children showed both strengths and weaknesses in specific Spectrum domains, but some children had only strengths and others had only weaknesses without strengths. It appeared that working style does not relate to children's strong domains, but individual disposition was reflected by characteristics of the task. During both individual and group spectrum activities, children with strengths were more "easily engaged in activity", "confident", and "focused" than those without strong intelligence domains. During individual activities, the "reflective" domain showed children with strengths in intelligence domains are more reflective than those without strengths.

  • This research analyzed differences between parents and teachers in assessment of young children's potential abilities based on multiple intelligences theory. Subjects were 10 boys and 10 girls, 4 and 5 years of age and their parents and teachers. Children's potential abilities were measured by the Korean Project Spectrum(KPS) and by the assessments of parents and teachers. Data were analyzed by SPSS. Statistical methods were Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, t-test, and Pearson's and Spearman's correlations. Results revealed differences between the assessments of parents and of teachers. While teacher assessments were very similar to the results of the KPS on logical mathematical and linguistic intelligence, the results of parents' assessments were different from the results of the KPS on musical, interpersonal-intrapersonal, and naturalistic intelligence.

  • The objective of this study is to assess the economic impacts that ensue from the ubiquitous spectrum monitoring project(u-SMP) by employing a contingent valuation method(CVM) to provide policy-makers with useful and responsible information. Importance of investigating the u-SMP service and its economic desirability cannot be overemphasized to actively cope with varying environment for spectrum use in that the spectrum monitoring contributes to the public welfare. According to estimating results, annually WTP per household is 1,268 Korean Won. Consequently, the annual benefit of u-SMP is about 7.9 billion Korean won. This result contributes to robust policy-makings for the u-SMP, to uncovering the economic value of the u-SMP, and to obtaining policy implications for activating the spectrum use.

  • In this paper, the lessons and learns are introduced from the result of the trial project which is the first CBTC(Communication Based Train Control System) at Korail Bundang Line. This project has started end of 2002 and finished recently by Samsung SDS. The main purpose of this project was that new technology was seek for next generation of railway signal control system adapted in Korea. In 2002, there was no any revenue service system using Radio Frequency CBTC in the world at that time. Just a few trial project was on going in USA and EU. In well developed cities, the metro system have been built and old enough therefore they have to be considering re-signalling their existing system with advanced system for increasing availabilities of line usage and safety. This Bundang Line Trial Project was the first Korean CBTC project for above reasons. Most sub systems have been developed using local technology such as Electronics Controlled Interlocking System and Track Circuit Systems etc. Specially, in this project the RF-Communication devices are developed by local technology using DSSS(Direct Sequency Spread Spectrum) instead of FHSS(Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum). This project has lasted for more than five years originally planned for three years because it was only accessible only night time in the main line from Ori to Suseo about 20km long. Each night only 2 and half hours are available to use the main line. Now the trial project has been done successfully with meet the customer's requirement, therefore the upgrade the mainline of Bundang line and another extension area up to Wangsipli to make revenue service using this new technology. This paper shows this result of the trial project and the strategy of upgrade and extension project as well.

  • The 13C (α,n)16O reaction cross-section is important data for nuclear physics, astrophysical, and neutrino physics experiments, however, they exhibit uncertainties due to the discrepancies in the experimental data. In this study, using the Nedis-2m program code, the energy spectrum of α-induced neutrons in a thin carbon target was calculated and the corresponding reaction cross-section was refined in the alpha particle energy range of 5-8 MeV. The results were used to calculate the intensity and energy spectrum of background neutrons produced in the liquid scintillator of KamLAND. The results will be useful in a variety of astrophysical and neutrino experiments especially those based on LS or Gd-LS detectors.

  • A comprehensive research effort in order to develop and disseminate modernized Korean housing (Hanok) has recently been initiated by Korean government. This large scale research project encompasses a wide spectrum of housing development including public policy, architectural plans, modules, construction materials and methods, prefabricated assemblies, automated production, construction management, and advanced information systems. For the purpose of integrating and automating the whole processes from an industry perspective, it is of great importance to develop a standard classification system and project numbering system (PNS) for the modernized Korean housing. This paper focuses on the standard classification systems and PNS for cost and schedule control. The distinct characteristics and managerial requirements were explored and embedded into the proposed classifications for modernized Hanok.

  • In construction industry, project performance should be evaluated in terms of project value objectives, i.e., cost, time, quality, safety, and environment. However, there have been few, if any, systematic approaches in assessing comprehensive performance level which encompasses the whole spectrum of project value objectives. It is non trivial to establish the standardized performance metric system due to the project individualities. This study provides a new approach in assessing the wide variety of project performance types by collecting the real industry project data. In addition, the proposed system has been validated through industry survey on project practitioners. It is concluded that the developed quantitative project performance measurement system would be effectively useful in indicating the level of current status of a particular project and furthermore, to provide a meaningful strategy for the future project in a more sustainable way.

  • High-precision lasers and anti-aircraft radars are the main equipment to protect the Korean Peninsula, and require preemptive maintenance before signs of failure. Of the key components in the drive sector, bearings do not have a fault alarm function. Therefore, the technology for diagnosing defects in bearings before the performance degradation of equipment occurs is becoming more important. In this paper, for the experimental analysis, we measured the acceleration of the four sets of the same lot using acceleration sensors. Through periodic measurements, the factors that changed until the bearing stopped rotating were analyzed. To determine the replacement time, the main factors and threshold values of the bearing signal were analyzed. The error of the theoretical and experimental analysis results of the defect frequency was within 2.8 %, and the validity of the theoretical analysis results could be confirmed. Based on the results, it is possible to remotely transmit trouble alerts to users through the system check function.

  • To acquire an appointed speaker's clear voice signal from inspect-camera, picture-conference or hands free microphone eliminating interference noises needs to be preceded speaker's position automatically. Presumption of sound source position's basic algorithm is about measuring TDOA(Time Difference Of Arrival) from reaching same signals between two microphones. This main project uses ADF(Adaptive Delay Filter) [4] and CPS(Cross Power Spectrum) [5] which are one of the most important analysis of TDOA. From these analysis this project proposes presumption of real time sound source position and improved model NI-ADF which makes possible to presume both directions of sound source position. NI-ADF noticed that if auditory sense of humankind reaches above to some specified level in specified frequency, it will accept sound through activated nerve. NI-ADF also proposes practicable algorithm, the presumption of real time sound source position including both directions, that when microphone loads to some specified system, it will use sounds level difference from external system related to sounds of diffraction phenomenon. In accordance with the project, when existing both direction adaptation filter's algorithm measures sound source, it increases more than twice number by measuring one way. Preserving this weak point, this project proposes improved algorithm to presume real time in both directions.

  • Recently, a lot of countries including the USA, Japan and European countries are working on applying IT technologies to spectrum management. Korea has put the G4C(Government for Citizen) project in pace that enables customers to access online public services including authorization of radio station. To improve the spectrum access and use, it is required to develop advanced support system for spectrum policy. This study analyzed and compared the e-licensing systems of foreign countries with those of Korea, and considers what process and methods of e-licensing are needed for Korea.
