  • This paper describes a study on the expert system based process planning of the block division process in shipbuilding. The prototype system developed deterines the block division line of the midship of crude-oil tanker. Case-based reasoning (CBR) approach relying on previous similar cases to solve the problem is applied instead of rule-based reasoning (RBR). Similar cases are retrieved from case base according to the similarity metrics between input problem and cases. The retrieved case with the highest priority is then adapted to fit to the input problem buy adaptation rules. The adapted solution is proposed as the division line for the input problem.

  • On the basis of the data collected from various fields , the energy input output state in the crop-growing sub-system in Guangdong is estimated and analyzed. Results show that the input of the artificial supplementary energy is approximately 201x105 Kcal/ha. year and the input and output ratio equals 1 : 4.73. Measures for improving productivity and speeding up the development of agricultural mechanization in Guangdong are eventually suggested.

  • An estimating procedure is introduced for kernel Poisson regression when the input variables consist of numerical and categorical variables, which is based on the penalized negative log-likelihood and the component-wise product of two different types of kernel functions. The proposed procedure provides the estimates of the mean function of the response variables, where the canonical parameter is linearly and/or nonlinearly related to the input variables. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of the proposed kernel Poisson regression.

  • The importance of input wariables of real-time accident consequence assessment model has been analyzed. Partial correlation coefficients of input variables related to the plume and the ingestion exposure have been estimated using latino hypercube sampling technique. It is known that wind speed and growth dilution rate are the most important variable in plume and ingestion exposure, respectively.

  • An experimental study has been made with the use of time reversal concepts to recover the input waveform in a long range propagation of dispersive Lamb waves. Three techniques have been tested: Regular TR, 1 bit TR and Inverse filter (IF). The IF approach was found to completely recover the original input signal. Moreover, the IF technique significantly increases the contrast, i.e., the ratio of the recovered signal and the sideband signal.

  • In this study, the technique of adaptive control based on certainty equivalence for the input-output linearization of nonlinear system is investigated. It is shown that the upper bound of the parameter estimation error can be represented more explicitly than Teel et al's works. Another direct approach, which stows that the adaptive input-output linearing control laws using the normalized identifier yield bounded tracing, is also presented.

  • Since the solution vector for input-output forecasting models is not directly obtainable, several iterative procedures have been proposed and utilized. As is often the case in numerical analysis, the question of the consistency between the original system and the converged system of the proposed iteration has been ignored, and no one has tried to express the converged solution explicitly. This paper examines this question and points out the inconsistencies between various well-known iterative procedures used to solve input-output models and the original input-output system.

  • We consider a single-input-single-output nonlinear system which can be represented in a normal form. The nonlinear system has a modeling uncertainties including the input coefficient uncertainty. A high-gain observer is used to estimate the states variables to reject a modeling uncertainty. A globally bounded output feedback integral sliding mode control is proposed to stabilize the closed loop system. The proposed integral sliding mode control can asymptotically stabilize the closed loop system in the presence of input coefficient uncertainty.

  • We, in this paper, design the Sugeno-models fuzzy controller by using the membership function modification algorithm and ANFIS, which are clustering and learning the input-output data. The membership function modification algorithm constructs the more concrete fuzzy controller by clustering the input-output data from the fuzzy inference system. ANFIS construct the Sugeno-models fuzzy controller by learning the input-output data from the above controller. We showed that the fuzzy controller designed by our method could have the stable learning and the enhanced performance.
