고속열차 운행 환경변화에 따른 수송수요예측 연구 (A Study on the estimation of transport demand in accordance with the changed operating environment of high speed train)

  • Recently, there has been growing necessity to estimate the future travel demand of high speed train because the circumstance of high speed train service is rapidly changing with the launching of 2011 second stage of Gyeongbu high speed railway(Dongdaegu-Busan) and the completion of 2014 first stage of Honam high speed railway(Yongsan-Gwangju), etc. This study was designed to estimate future travel demand by analyzing the transport performance and train service characteristics of Gyeongbu and Honam line. This study presents the maximum load section and the changed future travel demand, which will be applied to establish a train operation plan.

Review of the Improvement Plans on Catenary Systems for Speed Increase in Gyeongbu High-Speed Line

  • In recent years, the speed of a train has been recognized as one of the important factors to determine the competitiveness as a mean of transportation. In line with this, infrastructure improvements and enhancements are being made with increases in the speed of train. Accordingly, there is a need to establish plans for infrastructure improvements through a comprehensive analysis of signals, track/civil engineering, catenary and environment, etc. to improve the speed of a train of high-speed train service sections in Korea. This study proposes improvement plans for catenary systems by investigating the possibility of improvements through performance analysis of catenary equipment by speed increase based on the analysis on catenary systems in Gyeongbu high-speed line, and analysis the applicability of catenary improvements and economic feasibility.

  • The Train Diagnostic and Control System(TDCS) has been equipped on the modern Metro Vehicle, Locomotive and High Speed Train. The main purpose of this system is to support the identification of train status by real-time, the fast action against such failure events during revenue service and the fast convenient maintenance processes. Some of newest TCMS, a kind of control and monitoring system, has participated in the main control functions such as pantograph up and down, powering and braking command and so on. But these kind of control functions of the high speed train which has the operating speed over 300km/h are conducted by the train electrical logic circuits. The KTX-I and KTX-II - the local high speed train, are the typical example. The next generation TDCS for the ongoing project of distributed high speed train(HEMU) is designing with the target to increase main train control functions, to increase the reliability/avalibility and to increase the convenient driving. This paper introduces the overall configurations and functions of the new generation TDCS.

UIC 513R에 따른 통계적 방법을 이용한 고속철도 차량의 승차감 분석 및 평가 (Analysis and Evaluation of Ride Comfort for High Speed Train using Statistical Method according to UIC 513R)

  • The two projects about the high speed train have been performed in Korea, one project is the commercial run of high speed train(KTX) from Seoul to Busan and the other is the development of original high speed train(HSR 350x). As the successful results, the service run of KTX had been launched on the 1st of April, 2004 and HSR 350x had been fabricated in June, 2002 and has been tested in the Kyoungbu line and Honam line since then. The railway has the track irregularities which cause vibrations, such as rail joints, turnout, level crossing, transition curves and super-elevation ramps, and variations in the track level(z-axis) and the gauge(y-axis). Generally, the ride comfort for railway is evaluated by using the vibrations. In this paper, the ride comfort indices according to mc 513R and ISO 10056 have been reviewed when the high-speed trains are operated on both Kyoungbu line and Honam line. Also, the ride characteristics for KTX and HSR 350x on the high speed line and the conventional line have been analyzed and evaluated. The results show that the high-speed train has no problem from the viewpoint of the comfort ride on the high speed line and the conventional line and the ride index for HSR 350x is same as that for KTX in the high speed(300 km/h).

  • An instantaneous environmental noise simulation method emitted by a moving high-speed train by quasi-stationary analysis is proposed in this study. In the method, the propagation attenuations from stationary point sources on segmented railways to a receiver are calculated using a general purpose environmental noise prediction program ENPro based on the ISO 9613-2 method. Then, the instantaneous environmental noise at a receiver due to a moving high-speed train considering convection effect is evaluated with the information on the propagation attenuations from the instantaneous train location to the receiver and the sound power levels and directivity of stationary point sources evaluated by German Schall 03 (2006). To demonstrate the validity of proposed method, simulated and measured time history of instantaneous noise for KTX-I and KTX-II on running are compared and the results show that the method can be utilized for the train noise source identification as well as the simulation of instantaneous environmental noise emitted by a high-speed train.

  • The present study describes a practical estimation procedure about the pantograph under several severe aerodynamic load conditions. As the operating speed of the Korean Train Express(KTX) reaches 350km/h, structural safety at various conditions should be examined at the design stage. In the present study, a compact and reliable procedure is developed to get aerodynamic loads on each part of the pantograph regarding the typhoon condition, the train/tunnel interaction, the train/train interaction and the side wind condition. In the estimation procedure, 3-dimensional steady and unsteady CFD simulation around the high speed train facilitates assigning the external local flow condition around the pantograph. The procedure is verified using the results of the low speed wind tunnel test at JARI and applied to 7 flow conditions and 4 operation configurations.

  • High-speed train of push-pull type called as G7 train has been developed and chosen as the model of KTX-II which will be operated on Honam Line nexr year. However, the EMU-type high-speed train appeared to be the recent trend that foreign markets have shown. Also, in the near future, a great number of new train sets are needed to accommodate the increased passengers in our country. Thus, development of the high-speed EMU was decided, planned, and started. In the development, included were almost all fundamental key technologies such as noise and vibration reduction in a passenger cabin, running characteristics, aerodynamic analysis, crashworthiness evaluation, EMI/EMC analysis, design of the cooling system for the propulsion control system, enhanced performance of transformer and switching converters, synchronous traction motor with permanent magnets, new design of front nose and ergonomic interiors, application of advanced information technology(IT) and smart sensors and the cost reduction of construction of railway bridges, etc. Each key technologies are carried out as sub-project independently but under the supervision of a project. The project will develop the high advanced level of technologies and provide necessary know-why's and support the team in charge of the development of the high-speed EMU, Hyundai Rotem Co. Ltd. The high-speed EMU will be successfully developed with the support of the project.

  • Korean High Speed Train(KHST) has been tested on the high speed test line in Osung site, since it was developed through the G7 Project Plan in 2002. It was also tested on the conventional line such as KyongBu and Honan Line to know the possibility of increasing the limited speed for the high speed trains. This paper introduces the method to improve the speed on the conventional line with body lateral acceleration among the several considered issues and explains the parameters related to those analysis, such as the cant deficiency, the radius of curve, speed and etc. When a train pass on the curved track, the lateral accelerations of body are divided into the quasi-static and the maximum accelerations according to the UIC 518 which is the international specification for testing and approval of railway vehicles from the point of view of their dynamic behaviour, especially for safety and ride comfort. This paper shows that it is safe and comfort from the results of test when KHST runs on the conventional line with the curves and proposes that the limited speed of conventional curved line could be changed to a little higher speed if the analysises of other fields are completed.

  • With the opening of 1st phase and 2nd phase in Gyeongbu High Speed Line, KTX(The Korea Train Express) and Sancheon(2nd generation of High Speed Train) are operating commercially on entire line. Gyeongbu High Speed Line can be separated as several sections. In this entire line, a few types of train has operating by it's own pattern. However, commercial speed of the line compared with the maximum speed of Train is rather slow. Through this study, I found the reason of the slow speed on the Catenary system and suggested a solution.
