  • Isometric array grammar is one of the simplest model to generate picture languages, since both sides of its production rule have the same shape. In this paper, we have introduced isometric fuzzy regular array grammars to generate isometric fuzzy regular array languages and discussed its closure properties. Also, the relation between isometric fuzzy regular array grammar and boustrophedon fuzzy finite automata has been discussed. Moreover, we study the relation between two dimensional fuzzy regular grammars with returning fuzzy finite automata and boustrophedon fuzzy finite automata. Further, the hierarchy results of these three classes of languages have been discussed.

  • Context-sensitive spelling errors (CSSE) are hard to correct, since they are perfect words when analyzed alone. Determined only by considering the semantic and syntactic relations of their context, CSSEs affect largely the performance of spelling and grammar checkers. The existing Korean Spelling and Grammar Checker (KSGC 4.5) adopts a rule-based method, which uses hand-made correction rules for CSSEs. Using rule-based method, the KSGC 4.5 is designed to obtain the very high precision, which results in the extremely low recall. In this paper, we integrate our previous works that control the CSSE correction rules, in order to improve the recall without sacrificing the precision. In addition to the integration, facultative insertion of adverbs and conjugation suffix of predicates are also considered, as for constraint-loosening linguistic features.

  • This paper describes a large-vocabulary continuous speech recognition system using continuous hidden Markov models for the Korean language. To improve the performance of the system, we study on the selection of speech modeling units, inter-word modeling, search algorithm, and grammars. We used triphones as basic speech modeling units, generalized triphones and function word-dependent phones are used to improve the trainability of speech units and to reduce errors in function words. Silence between words is optionally inserted by using a silence model and a null transition. Word pair grammar and bigram model based oil word classes are used. Also we implement a search algorithm to find N-best candidate sentences. A postprocessor reorders the N-best sentences using word triple grammar, selects the most likely sentence as the final recognition result, and finally corrects trivial errors related with postpositions. In recognition tests using a 3,000-word continuous speech database, the system attained $93.1\%$ word recognition accuracy and $73.8\%$ sentence recognition accuracy using word triple grammar in postprocessing.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze elementary students' conceptual metaphor forms of light through their image schema of light. The participants were 162 $6^{th}$ grade students from G city, Gyeongsangnam-do. For this study, the analysis framework was developed as image schema analysis and systemic functional grammar analysis. Then, students' metaphorical expressions of light concepts were analyzed by the framework(image schema analysis and systemic functional grammar analysis). The findings are as follows. First, in the understanding of source of light, students had two structures of light. (a)Light comes out from a light source and goes straight in space. (b)Light is dispersed around a light source. Second, in the understanding of the process to see a material, students had five structures including scientific concept as light came out from a light source approaches the material and reflects off the material, then the light goes into the person's eyes. Third, in the understanding of reflection of light, students had four structures including scientific concept as light came out from a light source approaches the mirror and is reflected from the mirror.

  • Digital transformation refers to the process by which a company or organization changes or innovates its existing business model or sales activities using digital technology. This requires the use of various digital technologies - cloud computing, IoT, artificial intelligence, etc. - to strengthen competitiveness in the market, improve customer experience, and discover new businesses. In addition, in order to derive knowledge and insight about the market, customers, and production environment, it is necessary to select the right data, preprocess the data to an analyzable state, and establish the right process for systematic analysis suitable for the purpose. The usefulness of such digital data is determined by the importance of pre-processing and the correct application of exploratory data analysis (EDA), which is useful for information and hypothesis exploration and visualization of knowledge and insights. In this paper, we reexamine the philosophy and basic concepts of EDA and discuss key visualization information, information expression methods based on the grammar of graphics, and the ACCENT principle, which is the final visualization review standard, for effective visualization.

  • The types of errors corrected by a Korean spelling and grammar checker can be classified into isolated-term spelling errors and context-sensitive spelling errors (CSSE). CSSEs are difficult to detect and to correct, since they are correct words when examined alone. Thus, they can be corrected only by considering the semantic and syntactic relations to their context. CSSEs, which are frequently made even by expert wiriters, significantly affect the reliability of spelling and grammar checkers. An existing Korean spelling and grammar checker developed by P University (KSGC 4.5) adopts hand-made correction rules for correcting CSSEs. The KSGC 4.5 is designed to obtain very high precision, which results in an extremely low recall. Our overall goal of previous works was to improve the recall without considerably lowering the precision, by generalizing CSSE correction rules that mainly depend on linguistic knowledge. A variety of rule-based methods has been proposed in previous works, and the best performance showed 95.19% of average precision and 37.56% of recall. This study thus proposes a statistics based method using a conditional probability model with dynamic window sizes. in order to further improve the recall. The proposed method obtained 97.23% of average precision and 50.50% of recall.

  • A new multiresolutional scheme that reconstructs a polygonal mesh from the set of contours is presented. In the first step, we apply a radial gradient method to extract the contours on the sampled slices from a volume data. After classifying the types of the edges on the contours, we represent the contour using the context-free grammar. The polygons between two neighboring contours are generated through the traversal of the derivation trees of the context-free grammar. The polygonal surface of the coarsest resolution is refined through the refinement of the contours, which is executed by casting more rays on the slices. The topologies between the polygonal surfaces of various resolutions are maintained from the fact that the radial gradient method preserves the topologies of the contours of various resolutions. The proposed scheme provides efficient computation and compression methods for the tiling procedure with the feature preservation.

  • The cleaning robot is popularly used as a home appliance. The state-of-the-art cleaning robot can clean more efficiently by using information gathered from its sensor, which is difficult for low-price cleaning robots due to limitation in this aspect. In this paper, we suggested a method for the moving pattern of cleaning robot based on grammatical evolution. Optimized program is generated by using moving pattern grammar, which is defined by Backus-Naur form. In addition, conditional probability is used between each of the grammar elements during the program creation process. The proposed method is evaluated by robot simulation in order to verify its performance and further compare it with existing algorithms. The experiment results showed that the proposed method is better than the compared algorithms.

  • Single-state parsing automata have a characteristic such that the decision of an action depends only on the current state but not on the parsing history. The memory space and the parsing time of single-state parsing automata are less than the memory space and the parsing time of LR automata. However, the applicable grammar class of single-state parsing automata is less than that of LR automata. This paper provides extended single-state parsing automata, which are applicable to LR grammars. In the prior work, the special state, referred to as the cyclic state was not treated in the construction of single-state parsing automata, and hence, the applicable grammar class was less than LR grammars. The paper solves the problem of cyclic states by processing dynamic information depending on an input string. The proposed method expands the application of grammar class of single-state parsing automata to LR grammars.

  • In this paper, we describe a design and implementation of the Wireless Markup Language(WML) compiler to deploy wireless Internet services effectively. The WML compiler translates textual WML decks into binary ones in order to reduce the traffic on wireless links that have relatively low bandwidth to wireline links and mitigate the processing overhead of WML decks on, wireless terminals that have relatively low processing power to fixed workstations. In addition, it takes over the overhead of eXtensible Markup Language(XML) well-formedness and validation processes. The WML compiler consists of the lexical analyzer and parser modules. The granunar for the WML parser module is LALR(1) context-free grammar that is designed based on XML 1.0 and WML 1.2 DTD(Document Type Definition) with the consideration of the Wireless Application Protocol Binary XML grammar. The grammar description is converted into a C program to parse that grammar by using parser generator. Even though the tags in WML will be extended or WML DTD will be upgraded, this approach has the advantage of flexibility because the program is generated by modifying just the changed parts. We have verified the functionality of the WML compiler by using a WML decompiler in the public domain and by using the Nokia WAP Toolkit as a WAP client. To measurethe compressibility gain of the WML compiler, we have tested a large number of textual WML decks and obtained a maximum 85 %. As the effect of compression is reduced when the portion of general textual strings increases relative to one of the tags and attributes in a WML deck, an extended encoding method might be needed for specific applications such as compiling of the WML decks to which the Hyper Text Markup Language document is translated dynamically.
