  • Domain Name System(DNS), one of the most important Internet services, handles mapping from host names to Internet addresses and vice versa, and precedes many Internet applications such as Web, e-mail, file transfer, etc. In this paper, we propose a structural design of a generic name server system providing name services for a huge domain for the purpose of improving the performance as well as the reliability of the system. We demonstrate the validity of the design by implementing and running a testbed system. Our testbed employs a couple of master name sowers for distributing the service overhead over two, rather than one, servers and for achieving high availability of the system as a whole. We suggest the use of dynamic update to add and delete records from a zone for which the name server has authority. The slave name servers located remotely then get a new, updated copy of the zone via incremental zone transfers(IXFRs). The experiments with the implemented testbed show that the proposed structure would easily manage increasing demands on the server power, and be highly available in the face of transient faults of a module in the system.

  • Since the Arbitration Law of China took effect in 1995, arbitration has grown with the economy. At the end of 2009, there were 202 arbitration institutions in China. Among them, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission(CIETAC) has adopted online arbitration and has settled internet domain name disputes since 2001. CIETAC Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center(DNDRC) has accumulated abundant experiences of online arbitration in the field of domain name disputes. Based on those experiences, on 1 May 2009, CIETAC implemented the CIETAC Online Arbitration Rules(Rules') to regulate the resolution of e-business disputes as well as other business disputes. With this background, this article aims to study the status quo, practices and issues of online arbitration conducted by CIETAC. For the purpose of the article, a general picture of online arbitration is outlined first, followed by introducing the steps of the online arbitration procedure. According to the 'Rules', the entire arbitration process is conducted using online communication methods which are cost-effective and efficient. To facilitate the development of online arbitration, legal barriers need to be removed. This article considers main legal issues of online arbitration in China and proposes amendment to Chinese Arbitration Law, in particular, the recognition of the validity of electronic arbitration agreements and awards.

  • Cybersquatting is a type of conflicts between a trademark and a domain, and refers to "behaviors of registering, retaining, transferring, and using the identical or similar domain name in bad faith for the profit from the mark such as trademark". That is, it is preoccupying behavior to abuse the fact that the domain name in the Internet can be freely registered on a first come, first served basis and can't duplicate. Though this should be prohibited, given the reality that most of our daily lives are based in the Internet, this is creating many problems in IT environment beyond social structure in rule of law. Therefore, this study has the purpose that it provides cybersquatting-related information and suggests legislative implications hereafter through the analysis of cybersquatting-related precedent from the Supreme Court.

  • Given a domain, client applications over the Internet are in support of the DNS (Domain Name System) to get its corresponding IP address. Currently, only domain names expressed by ASCII code are recognized over the Internet. This enforces the usage of ASCII domain names even in countries which use languages based on multilingual code other than ASCII code. In this paper, we present a methodology to support multilingual domain names on top of the existing DNS. The methodology is based on code translation of domain names in multilingual code into ASCII code via UTF5. We implement a gateway, called Proxy Hangul DNS (P-HDNS) based on the proposed methodology. This paper presents the principles of the methodology and the implementation details of P-HDNS.

  • This paper presents the automatically extracting method of data item from name-cards using knowledge-base. In our approach, we utilize a structural information and a relational information between data items and elements with knowledge in the name-cards. To describe a hierarchical knowledge, we uses a flame structure and we propose an algorithim of domain classification to extract item and group candidate domains from the name-cards. From the experimental results, we obtain the extraction rate, 95%, for 100 samples.

  • As one of the most spotlighted research areas, these days, the Internet of Things (IoT) aims to provide users with various services through many devices. Since there exist so many devices in IoT environments, it is inefficient to manually configure the domain name system (DNS) names of such devices. Thus, for IPv6-based IoT environments, this paper proposes a scheme called the DNS Name Autoconfiguration (DNSNA) that autoconfigures an IoT device's DNS name and manages it. In the procedure for generating and registering an IoT device's DNS name, the standard protocols of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) are used. Since the proposed scheme resolves an IoT device's DNS name into an IPv6 address in unicast through a DNS server, it generates less traffic than multicast-based mDNS (Multicast DNS) which is a legacy DNS application for the DNS name service in the smart home. Thus, the proposed scheme is more appropriate in multi-hop IoT networks than mDNS. This paper explains the design of the proposed scheme and its service scenarios, such as smart home and smart road. It also explains the implementation and testing of the proposed scheme in the smart grid.

  • Recursive DNS is configured as primary or secondary DNS on user PC and performs domain name resolution corresponding user's DNS query. At present, the amount of DNS traffic is occupied high rate in the total internet traffic and the internet traffic would be increased by failure of IPv6 DNS queries and responses as IPv6 transition environment. Also, existing Recursive DNS service mechanisms is unstable on malicious user's attack same as DoS/DDoS Attack and isn't provide to user trust DNS service fail-over. In this paper, we propose IPv6 Recursive DNS service mechanisms for based on anycast for improving stability. It is that fail-over Recursive DNS is configured IPv6 Anycast address for primary Recursive DNS's foil-over. this mechanisms increases reliability and resiliency to DoS/DDoS attacks and reduces query latency and helps minimize DNS traffic as inducing IPv6 address.

  • In order to extract some important information of a person from text, an extracting model was proposed. The person's name is recognized based on the maximal entropy statistic model and the training corpus. The sentences surrounding the person's name are analyzed according to the conceptual knowledge base. The three main elements of events, domain, situation and background, are also extracted from the sentences to construct the structure of events about the person.
