Research on reverse knowledge transfer from subsidiaries to headquarters is recently gaining prominence. The debate regarding the precedents affecting the phenomenon has yet to reach a consensus. Therefore, this paper attempts to identify the effects of an organization's subsidiaries' knowledge transfer capacity (KTC) on reversely transferred local market information (LMI) to headquarters. The present study also examines the moderating effect of intrinsic KTC on the relationship between extrinsic KTC and RKT in an effort to gain better insights into KTC. Through sample data gathered from South Korea, knowledge development capability and subsidiary willingness were found to be vital precedents for successful reverse transferring of LMI to headquarters. Furthermore, we also found that subsidiary willingness functions as an interfering moderator between the relationship of knowledge development capability and RKT. Theoretical contributions and practical implications of these findings are discussed.
On the standards or elements of teaching evaluation, the Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation(KICE) has carried out several research as follows : 1) establishment of observation elements for selecting examples of good instruction between 2001 and 2002, 2) development of the standards on teaching evaluation between 2004 and 2006, and 3) investigation on the elements of Pedagogical Content Knowledge including Subject Matter Knowledge between 2007 and 2008. The purpose of development of mathematics teaching evaluation standards through those studies were to improve not only mathematics teachers' professionalism but also their own teaching methods or strategies. Especially, the standards on mathematics teaching evaluation were developed based on the standards on general teaching evaluation. In this study, the standards were revised and modified by analyzing the results of those studies (namely, evaluation standards) focused on SMK. For this purpose, four domains such as the knowledge of curriculum reconstruction, knowledge of mathematical contents, methodological knowledge, mathematical value were new established based on the theories relevant to SMK and on the base of these four domains, standards or elements on teaching evaluation focused on SMK were reconstructed.
This paper analyzed the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) presented in three novice teachers' mathematics instruction. PCK was analyzed in terms of the knowledge of mathematics content, the knowledge of students' understanding, and the knowledge of teaching methods. Teacher A executed a concept-oriented instruction with manipulative materials because she had difficulties in learning mathematics during her childhood. Teacher B attempted to implement an inquiry-centered instruction in the lesson of looking for the area of a trapezoid. Teacher C focused on the real-life connection to mathematics instruction. There were substantial differences among the teachers' PCK revealed in mathematics teaching, depending on their instructional goals. The detailed analyses of three teachers' teaching in terms of their PCK will give rise to the issues and suggestions of professional development for beginning elementary school teachers in mathematics teaching.
In the present reflective study, the research findings of professional development in mathematics education are reviewed and significant ideas that emerged are addressed in ter ms of (1) building on collaborative effort; (2) focusing on content knowledge; (3) centering on students' learning and bringing forth teacher knowledge; (4) perception-based and conception-based perspective; 5) situating in the context of teaching and sustained over ti me. Then it is followed by suggesting what components a desirable professional develop ment program needs to include and a possible direction toward which future research on professional development in mathematics education heads.
With the increasing market share of retailer brands, many authors have paid considerable attention to retailer brands. Before market liberalisation in 1996 in Korea, retailer brand market was led by the supermarket retailing format, although the first retailer brand product was developed by the department store format. In parallel with the entry of foreign multiple retailers, the retailer brand market has experienced rapid growth. Particularly, the expansion of Tesco UK with well-established retailing know-how into Korea has encouraged Tesco Korea to actively get involved in retailer brand program. As a result, Tesco Korea has led retailer brand market in the Korean marketplace. The research starts with the question of why Tesco Korea has achieved such a higher retailer brand share. Accordingly, this study is to explore how Tesco UK has transferred its own retailing knowledge into Tesco Korea, in terms of retailer brand program development. In order to explore why the retailer brand share of Tesco Korea is higher than that of its counterparts, the author adopted in-depth interview with prepared-questions and store observation as a research methodology. To examine working process as well as information flows within Tesco Korea and from UK to Korea, in-depth interview method is one of the most suitable research methodologies, because of the difficulty of quantifying information or data related to work flows. In addition, to increase the validity of information, the researcher had interviews with Tesco Korea supplier and store personnel. Based on these research techniques, this research explored how Tesco UK has influenced or advised Tesco Korea, particularly, from the point of view of knowledge transfer. Since the entry of Tesco UK into Korea as a joint-venture, the retailer brand market share of Tesco Korea has continuously increased. It would be expected that Tesco UK has helped Tesco Korea to settle down in the Korean market. During interviews with Tesco and a Tesco supplier, the researcher found that Tesco Korea has obviously taken an advantage of retailing know-how created by Tesco UK. Furthermore, the retailer brand development and handling process of Tesco Korea has been operated with the help of Tesco UK. This might mean that Tesco UK has directly or indirectly an impact on the improvement of Korean retailer brand development skills. As a mechanism to transfer retailing knowledge developed in the home market into the host market, one of the international retailers, Tesco UK has adopted many different ways such as annual meeting, trading meeting to import or export own retailer brand products, offering of operation manual developed by Tesco UK and buyer cooperation between Tesco UK and Korea, in order to share information. Through these communication techniques, the knowledge of Tesco UK has been transferred to Tesco Korea. This research accordingly suggests that retailer brand market share is apparently related to how sophisticated or advanced the knowledge of the retailer brand development and handling process of retailers are. It is also demonstrated by this research that advanced development and handling skills make a considerable contribution to increasing retailer brand share in markets with a lower share or no presence of retailer brands.
This paper defines appraisal items and weights of the items for the purpose of developing an appraisal instrument that objectively measures employee's effectiveness of knowledge contribution. Deductive research is used for the development of appraisal items and delphi method for the development of weights of the items. In the deductive research the term, "effectiveness of knowledge contribution" is first defined. Then knowledge contribution activities are classified as "dimension of explicit contribution" and " dimension of tacit contribution" due to the characteristics of knowledge. Each dimension is divided again by components. The dimension of explicit contribution is divided according to the content of knowledge, and the dimension of tacit contribution is divided according to the extent of tacitness of knowledge contribution. The total components of dimensions are 7. The dimension of explicit contribution is composed of factual knowledge and procedural knowledge. The factual knowledge is made up of "procedural knowledge outcome" and "other factual knowledge". The procedural knowledge is made up of "procedural knowledge manual" and "lessons-learned procedural knowledge". The dimension of tacit contribution is composed of "agency", "model" and "Q&A". The basic framework for measuring 7 components of knowledge contribution is quantitative and qualitative approach. This paper is premised on the assumption that the outcomes of employee's knowledge contribution activities are recorded in the knowledge management systems in order to evaluate them objectively. The appraisal items are defined as follows: at the dimension of explicit contribution, in quantitative approach, "the upload number" or "performance number", and in qualitative approach, other employee's "referred number" and other employee's "content and format satisfaction evaluation"; at the dimension of tacit contribution, "demanded number of performance" After the development of appraisal items by the deductive method, delphi method was used for the analysis of the weights of the items with the total degree of knowledge contribution, 100. This research does not include the standard marks of the appraisal items. It is because when companies apply this appraisal instrument, they could use their own standard appraisal marks of the appraisal items considering their present situations and companies' goals. Through this almost desert-like research about the appraisal instrument of employee's knowledge contribution effectiveness, it proposes a cornerstone in the research field of appraisal instrument, which provides a standard for employee's knowledge contribution appraisal, and appraisal items that make organizational knowledge to be managed more systemically in business sites.
Objectives : This paper summarizes contents on fish in the Injeji and Jeoneo-Ji parts in the Imwon-Gyeongje-Ji and compares them with those in the Dong-uibogam from a Korean Medical perspective. Methods : Most of the knowledge of fish in the Imwon-Gyeongje-Ji is based on preceding material medica studies such as the Dongui-bogam in Joseon, the Bencao-gangmu in China, and the Hwahan Samjaedohoe in Japan. The influential relationships and the process of change among these knowledge information were examined within the context of each literature's development or through identifiable changes in knowledge on each particular kind of fish. Results & Conclusions : In the Imwon-Gyeongje-Ji, the consisting 16 parts are organically connected, sometimes functioning as cross-references. In particular, the medical contents on the efficacy of fish for treating disease is closely linked to contents on fish ecology and environment as written in the Jeoneo-Ji, which deals with the field of living things. On the more detailed knowledge on about 30 kinds of fish, one could grasp the formation process and changes of East Asian traditional knowledge on fishkind among historical study of influential Chinese texts, new stimulation and methodology through Japanese literature on natural history, and dynamic processes of inheriting and selectively accepting traditional knowledge of Joseon.
This study investigated the perceptions of beginning teachers about teacher knowledge. Reflections and improvement of their class knowledge have been perceived as the most important factors by beginning teachers. In terms of utilization of actual classes, teacher knowledge, mathematical concepts and correlations such as connection linked to class contents and hierarchy have been used the most. Among the needed teachers knowledge, knowledge of student understanding and mathematics content knowledge was the most essential knowledge that could be mainly formed through classroom experience and teacher training program. On the other hand, knowledge about technology and assessment was not necessary or useful factor for beginning teachers. To facilitate formation of beginning teachers' knowledge, teacher introductory program, mentoring program, interactive relationship with teacher education institutes, curriculum improvement for teacher education institute and the development and dissemination of various teachers training program would be required.
The purpose of this study is to conduct classroom-friendly learning activity for sustainable development and to find out the learner's understanding level of experiences on sustainable development. The results of this study could be summarized as follows. First, classroom-friendly learning activity for sustainable development which is focused on the sustainable flea market is concerned about enhancing learner's understanding sustainable development. It could be emphasized a viewpoint of sustainable development, and a possibility of expanding learner's experience in dealing with sustainable development. Second, this study shows also a application of the teaching & learning strategy for classroom-friendly learning for sustainable development. Three different group of pre-service teachers were participated in sustainable flea marker activity. It is considered to make the student be able to catch up core knowledge and value of sustainable development during the classroom-friendly learning activity. In conclusion, this research asserts that classroom-friendly learning activity for sustainable development could make students improve the knowledge and value of sustainable development. It is emphasized to advance education for sustainable development as a new teaching & learning strategy.
Improving performance needs Creativity and Improving Creativity needs clear communication of work orders in technology development projects. This study empirically analyzed the effects of team efficacy and knowledge sharing on communication competence and the effects of communication competence on individual creativity and product development performance. The purpose of this study is to verify the importance of communication and personal creativity in technology development projects and to suggest ways to improve communication capabilities. A survey was conducted of participants in technology development and the relationship between variables was confirmed by the structural equation model. The results show that team efficacy and knowledge sharing had a positive effect on communication competence, and that the clear delivery and understanding of team orders were the main factors in improving individual creativity. The results of this study will contribute to improving the communication competence of participants who are required for improving individual creativity in technology development projects in which high technology is converged. In the future, we will study the effects of Communication Competence on Organizational Creativity.
