PLM 지원을 위한 온톨로지 기반 지식 프레임워크 (Ontology-Based Knowledge Framework for Product Life cycle Management)

  • This paper introduces an approach to an ontology-based knowledge framework for product life cycle management (PLM). Participants in a product life cycle want to share comprehensive product knowledge without any ambiguity and heterogeneity. However, previous knowledge management approaches are limited in providing those aspects. Therefore, we suggest an ontology-based knowledge framework including knowledge maps, axioms and specific knowledge far domain. The bottom level, the axiom, specifies the semantics of concepts and relations of knowledge so that ambiguity of the semantics can be alleviated. The middle level is a product development knowledge map; it defines the concepts and the relations of the product domain common knowledge and guides engineers to process their engineering decisions. The middle level is then classified further into more detailed levels, such as generic product level, specific product level, product version level, and product item level for PLM. The top level is specialized knowledge fer a specific domain that gives the solution of a specific task or problem. It is classified into three knowledge types: expert knowledge, engineering function knowledge, and data-analysis-based knowledge. This proposed framework is based on ontology to accommodate a comprehensive range of unambiguous knowledge for PLM and is represented with first-order logic to maintain a uniform representation.

  • This paper introduces an approach to an ontology-based multi-level knowledge framework for a knowledge management system for discrete-product development. Participants in a product life cycle want to share comprehensive product knowledge without any ambiguity and heterogeneity. However, previous knowledge management approaches are limited in providing those aspects: therefore, we suggest an ontology-based multi-level knowledge framework (OBMKF). The bottom level, the axiom, specifies the semantics of concepts and relations of knowledge so ambiguity can be alleviated.   • Modeling product configurations needs large amounts of knowledge about technical and marketing restrictions on the product. Previous attempts to automate product configurations concentrate on representations and management of the knowledge for specific domains in fixed and isolated computing environments. Since the knowledge about product configurations is subject to continuous change and hard to express, these attempts often failed to efficiently manage and exchange the knowledge in collaborative product development. In this paper, XML Topic Map (XTM) is introduced to represent and exchange the knowledge about product configurations in collaborative product development. A product configuration model based on XTM along with its merger and inference facilities enables configuration engineers In collaborative product development to manage and exchange their knowledge efficiently. An implementation of the proposed product configuration model is presented to demonstrate that the proposed approach enables enterprises to exchange the knowledge about product configurations during their collaborative product development.

  • This study examined the influences of product knowledge(subject knowledge, purchase experience and information search) on perceived risks and benefits to natural dyeing product. Data were collected from a total of 213 Korean females ranging from 20 to 50 years old who know natural dyeing product through online survey. There were significant differences between(or among) groups with different levels of subject knowledge, purchase experience and information search in several types of perceived risks and benefits to natural dyeing product. Consumers with high knowledge of natural dyeing product perceived several types of risks lower than consumers with low knowledge but they perceived several types of benefits higher than consumers with low knowledge.

제품개발을 위한 온톨로지 기반 지식 프레임워크 (Ontology-based Knowledge Framework for Product Development)

  • This paper introduces an approach to ontology-based framework for knowledge management in a product development domain. The participants in a product life cycle want to share the product knowledge without any heterogeneity. However, previous knowledge management systems do not have any conceptual specifications of their knowledge. We suggest the three levels of knowledge framework. First level is an axiom, which specifies the semantics of concepts and relations. Second level is a product development knowledge map. It defines the common domain knowledge which domain experts agree with. Third level is a specialized knowledge for domain, which includes three knowledge types; expert knowledge, engineering function and data-analysis-based knowledge. We propose an ontology-based knowledge framework based on the three levels of knowledge. The framework has a uniform representation; first order logic to increase integrity of the framework. We implement the framework using prolog and test example queries to show the effectiveness of the framework.

  • As the external knowledge networks of firms have become more and more important to their product and service innovations, many global leading companies such as P & G, IBM, and Samsung Electronics have formulated and implemented their open innovation strategy. This study attempts to empirically analyze the effects of CEOs' supports for external knowledge networks, external knowledge network-oriented cultures and inter-organizational knowledge management systems as the major antecedents to external knowledge networks by using the data based on organizational members' perceptions about them. Based on 847 samples collected from employees in three companies in the medical, the construction and the IT service industries, this study performed a structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis about the effects of the antecedents to the external knowledge networks on product and service innovations through Partial Least Squares (PLS). The empirical findings of this study show that CEOs' supports for external knowledge network positively influence product and service innovations, partially mediated by external knowledge network-oriented cultures and inter-organizational knowledge management systems. And they also show that external knowledge network-oriented cultures and inter-organizational knowledge management systems have a positive effect on product and service innovations, respectively, partially mediated by external knowledge networks. With these new findings, academic and practical implications are discussed.

  • This paper introduces an approach to multi-layered product knowledge model for collaborative engineering environment. The participants in collaborative engineering want to share and reason product knowledge through internet without any heterogeneity and ambiguity. However the previous knowledge models are limited in providing those aspects. In this paper, the collaborative engineering domain is analyzed and then the product knowledge is organized into four levels such as product context model, product specific model, product design model and product manufacturing model. The four levels are represented by first-order logic in layered fashion. The concepts and the instances of a formal ontology are used for recursive representation of the four levels. The instances of the concepts of an upper level like product context model are considered as the concepts of an adjacent lower level like product specific model, and this mechanism is applied to the other levels. These logic representations are integrated with the schema and the instances of a relational database. OWL representation of the four levels is defined through the integration of the logic representation and OWL primitives. The four product knowledge models have their major representation according to the characteristics of each model. This approach enables engineer to share product knowledge through internet without any ambiguity and utilize it as basis for additional reasoning.

기술협력 네트워크에서의 사회적자본, 지식활용, 제품혁신성과의 관계에 대한 실증연구 (An Empirical Study on the Relationship among Social Capital, Knowledge Application, and Product Innovation Performance in Technology Cooperation Network)

  • Due to the awareness for the importance of social capital, many researches have investigated that social capital contributes to the successful implementation of product innovation. Although most researchers tried to model the effect of social capital on product innovation as a linear relation, we consider it too simplistic and fuzzy because knowledge utilization which ultimately leads to product innovation should exist in the relationship between social capital and product innovation. Using 107 survey data, this study found there is a partial mediating effect of knowledge utilization on the link between structure aspect of social capital and product innovation (i.e., new product development and improvement in existing products). Next, this study reported knowledge utilization does act as a perfect mediating variable on the link between awareness aspect of social capital and improvement of existing products, but act as a partial mediating variable on the link between awareness aspect of social capital and new product development. Finally, this study found that knowledge utilization does not act as a mediating variable on the link between relation aspect of social capita and product innovation.

  • 제품 설계를 위한 시뮬레이션을 위해서는 다양한 인과지식이 필요하다. 따라서 현존하는 다양한 지식으로부터 새로운 지식을 획득하기 위해서는 이러한 지식들을 통합하는 것이 필요하다. 예를 들어, 사용자가 가열이 되는 컵을 설계하고자 하지만 기존의 설계 지식 베이스에는 가열되는 컵에 대한 설계 지식은 없고 가열 기구에 대한 지식과 컵에 대한 지식이 따로 존재한다. 이러한 상황에서 가열 기구에 대한 지식과 컵에 대한 지식을 통합할 수 있는 자동화된 방법론이 필요하다. 이를 통해 사용자는 가열이 되는 컵을 설계하는 지식을 획득할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 이러한 제품 설계에 관련한 지식을 통합하여 새로운 지식을 만드는 방법론을 제안 한다.

  • 제품수명주기관리(Product Lifecycle Management)는 8개의 지식영역으로 구성된 잘 정의된 관리방법이다. 4차 산업혁명이 스마트 팩토리와 밀접한 관련이 있기 때문에 궁극적으로 제품의 아이디어 생성에서 폐기까지의 전 과정을 효과적으로 관리하는 제품수명주기관리의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 제품수명주기관리 분야의 전문가를 대상으로 제품수명주기관리의 지식영역의 현재와 향후 적용정도를 4차 산업혁명의 관점에서 분석하였다. 제품수명주기관리의 지식영역이 현장에서 어느 정도 적용되고 있는지를 현재의 관점과 가까운 미래의 관점에서 전문가 인식을 분석하였다. 제품수명주기관리의 지식영역의 현재 및 미래의 적용정도를 분석하고, 적용정도의 관점에서 지식영역 간의 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 분석된 결과를 중심으로 그 의미와 향후 흐름을 제시하였다.
