  • Laser induced fluorescence spectra of OH produced from photodissociation of $H_2O_2$ at 280-290 nm in the gas phase have been observed. By analyzing the Doppler profiles, the anisotropy parameter($\beta$ =-0.7) and the center of mass translational energy of the fragments have been measured. The measured energy distribution is well described by an impulsive model. The excited state leading to dissociation is found to be of 1Au symmetry. The dissociation from this state is prompt and direct with the fragment OH rotating in the plane perpendicular to the O-O bond axis.

  • A new type of motor-driven total artificial heart system with a moving-actuator mechanism has been developed. The prototype system consists of a brushless do motor inside of actuator, two polyurethane sacs, and peripheral devices with internal controller. In this research work, the moving-actuator type electromechanical total artificial heart was redesigned for a good anatomical fitting. For total implantation we are developing the internal controller with high reliability and stability, and automatic control algorithm in response to the physiological requirements of animal. Contents and scope of the research work on ";Development of a totally implantable artificial heart of pre-clinical stage"; is summerized below 1) Animal experiment using sheep(55-60kg) 2) Development of implantable controller 3) Automatic control algorithm 4) Improvement of biocompatibility 5) Redesign of Actuator/blood pump.

  • The rhGH-loaded PLGA microsphere formulation was prepared using a double emulsion process from hydrophilic 0:50 poly(D.L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) polymers. To investigate the sustained efficacy of this formulation, ts pharmacodynamic characteristics were analyzed. It showed particle size of ca 53.1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ with high drug ncorporation efficiency and it was sucutaneously administrated to hypophysectomized rats and whole body rowth responses of this formulation were compared to those of the different dosing patterns of rhGH. • The in vivo release characteristics of rhGH-loaded PLGA microsphere prepared using a double emulsion process from hydrophilic 50:50 poly(D.L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) polymers were analyzed. This formulation showed particle size of ca 53.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ with high drug incorporation efficiency. To investigate in vivo release kinetics without the interference of formation of antibodies to rhGH in the experimental animals, the animals were immunosuppressed by treatment with Cyclosporin. • The in vitro release of rhGH from PLGA microspheres was characterized. rhGH-loaded PLGA microspheres were prepared with 50:50 poly(D.L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) polymers using a double emulsion process. To simulate rhGH release under physiological conditions. the microspheres were suspended in a physiological buller at 37$^{\circ}C$. Quantification of the rhGH released and its molecular form analysis were carried out using SE-HPLC. (omitted)

  • Eight compounds were isolated from the roots of Asarum sieboldii and their structures were identified as $({\pm})$-car-3-ene-2,5-dione (1), (-)-asarinin (2), (-)-sesamin (3), eucarvone (4), methyleugenol (5), ${\gamma}-asarone$ (6), pellitorine (7) and asarinol A (8) by analysis of spectral data. Among them, (-)-asarinin (2) showed the most potent inhibitory effect on melanogenesis, with inhibition rate of 66%.
