  • Pressure-assisted forward osmosis (PAFO) process has recently been under spotlight for its potential to improve forward osmosis (FO) process performance by applying low hydraulic pressure on the feed side. Structure parameter, one of the governing factors in estimating water flux and solute flux across FO membranes in the solution-diffusion model (S-D model), determines solute resistivity in FO and PAFO processes. This study aims to estimate the trend of structure parameter change with respect to varying additional hydraulic pressure condition in PAFO.

  • In this Paper, reduction of noise and vibration in ship cabins by using floating floor is studied. Two theoretical models are presented and predicted insertion losses of floating floor are compared to experimental results, where measurements have been done in mock-up built for simulating typical ship cabin structures. In ships, mineral wool is usually used as the impact absorbing materials. The first model (M-S-Plate Model) is that upper plate and mineral wool are assumed as a one-dimensional mass-spring system, which is in turn attached to the simply supported elastic floor. The second model (Wave-Plate Model) is that mineral wool is assumed as an elastic medium for wave propagation. The comparisons show that M-S-Plate model is in good agreement with experimental results when density of mineral wool is 140K, and fiber direction is horizontal. For higher density and vertical fiber direction, Wave-Plate model shows good agreements with measurements. It is found that including the elastic behavior of the floor is essential in improving accuracy of the prediction for low frequency ranges below $100{sim}200Hz$.

  • The stress relaxation and creep characteristics of fruits have usually been fit to an exponential expression based on a generalized Maxwell model and Burger's model. It is known that two to three terms in the expansion of those models are necessary to obtain a satisfactory fit to the rheological characteristics of fruits. Since four to six constants appear in the models, it is very difficult to determine their physical meaning according to the experimental conditions and levels. Therefore in order to ease the comparison of data, this study was conducted to develop the linearized rheological model of the fruit from the previous studies of stress relaxation and creep characteristics of fruits. Stress relaxation and creep characteristics were able to normalize and presented in the linear form of $t/S(t)=K_1+k_2t$ and $t/C(t)={K_1}^{\prime}+{K_2}^{\prime}t$, respectively. It was possible to compare the effects of experimental conditions and levels much easier from the linearized models developed in this study than from the generalized Maxwell model and Burger's model.

  • We present a new high-frequency equivalent circuit model for 52pin QFP used in typical IC's and extract R, L, and C values of this circuit model using a 3-D E & M field simulator. Futhermore, L and C value variations as a function of Pin number due to the shape differences of the leads have been fitted to 2nd order polynomials in order to extend the applicability of this model.

  • The object of this study is to develop simulation model using GASS for analyzing complex agricultural marketing. It's hard to analyze agricultural marketing system which consists of many marketing unit by economic mathematical model. This paper proposes simulation model based on GASS which can reduce complexity of system, and applies the national average wholesale cost and retail cost of alpine Chinese cabbage at 2001, 2002 to proposed simulation model.

  • In this paper, we present simulation results of Dynamic Matrix Control(DMC) to a boiler steam temperature. In order to control of steam temperature, we choose the input-output variables and generate the step response model by each input variable's step test. After that, the control structure executes on-line control with optimization using step response model. Proposed controller is applied to the APESS(Doosan company's boiler model simulator) and it is observed that the simulation results show satisfactory performance of proposed control.

  • Regularlization approach to regression can be easily found in Statistics and Information Science literature. The technique of regularlization was introduced as a way of controlling the smoothness properties of regression function. In this paper, we have presented a new method to evaluate linear and non-linear fuzzy regression model based on Tanaka's model using the idea of regularlization technique. Especially this method is a very attractive approach to model non -linear fuzzy data.

  • We consider the problem of testing for outliers in generalized linear model. We proceed by first specifying a mean shift outlier model, assuming the suspect set of ourliers is known. Given this model, we discuss standard approaches to obtaining score test for outliers as an alternative to the likelihood ratio test.

  • The objective of this study was to develop dynamic model to describe the kinetic behavior of E. coli in sliced smoked duck. E. coli was detected in 2 sliced smoked duck samples (16.7%) at 1.23 log CFU/g. The maximum specific growth rate (𝜇max) of E. coli ranged from 0.05 to 0.36 log CFU/g/h, and lag phase duration (LPD) ranged from 4.39 to 1.07 h, depending on the storage at 10-30℃, and h0 value ranged from 0.24 to 0.51. The developed model was validated with observed values obtained at 13℃ and 25℃. The model performance was appropriate with 0.130 of root mean squared error (RMSE), and the dynamic model also described properly kinetic behavior of E. coli in sliced smoked duck samples. These results indicate that E. coli can contaminate sliced smoked ducks and the models developed with the E. coli isolates are useful in describing the kinetic behavior of E. coli in sliced smoked duck.
