Study of $CO_2$ Absorption Characteristics in Aqueous K_2CO_3$ Solution with Homopiperazine (K_2CO_3$/homopiperazine 수용액의 이산화탄소 흡수 특성 연구)

  • In this study, as one of the carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) adsorbents the aqueous potassium carbonate ($K_2CO_3$)/promoter mixtures were investigated. Equilibrium partial pressure ($P_{CO_2}^*$) and pressure change were measured by using VLE (Vapor-liquid equilibrium) equipment in the mixture solution at 60 and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. Absorption capacity was estimated in the semi-batch absorption apparatus at 40, 60 and $80^{\circ}C$. We proposed to use homopiperazine (homoPZ), cyclic diamine compound as a promoter of $K_2CO_3$ solution, to prevent crystalline formation and increase absorption capacity of aqueous $K_2CO_3$ solution. The absorption capacity of $K_2CO_3$/homoPZ was compared with MEA, $K_2CO_3$ and $K_2CO_3$/piperazine (PZ). Based on the results, we found that the mixture solution containing homoPZ had lower equilibrium partial pressure than that of $K_2CO_3$ solution and the absorption rate was approximately 0.375-times faster at $60^{\circ}C$, 0.343-times faster at $80^{\circ}C$ than that of aqueous $K_2CO_3$ solution without homoPZ. $K_2CO_3$/homoPZ solution showed excellent CO2 loading capacity compared with MEA solution at $60^{\circ}C$.

Dielectric and conductivity properties of defect double Perovskite La1/3TaO3 single crystal (결함 이중 Perovskite La1/3TaO3 단결정의 유전 및 전도특성)

  • After the specimen of A-site defect double Perovskite La1/3TaO3 single crystal was manufactured, the dielectric properties have been studied between the temperature range of 10 and 800 K. Under 500 K, a paraelectric behavior has been shown, and above 550 K, a dielectric anomaly and a thermal history of dielectric constant has been shown. An activation energy by measurement of ac-conductivity has been the largest with 1.83 eV in the areas below 560 K, 0.35 eV in the areas of 560~690 K, and 0.28 eV in the areas of high temperature above 690 K. From these results, it is assumed that in the areas below 500 K, La3+-ion and vacancy-site are arranged in disorder to maintain a paraelectric phase. And in the areas near 560 K with the highest activation energy, a dielectric anomaly is attributes to rearrangement of La3+-ion due to conduction to vacancy-site or jumping.

  • $TiO_2/CH_3NH_3Pb_{1-x}Sb_xI_{3-3x}Br_{3x}-based$ photovoltaic devices were fabricated by a spin-coating method using mixture solutions with $SbBr_3$. Effects of $SbBr3$, CsI or RbBr addition to $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ precursor solutions on the photovoltaic properties where investigated. The short-circuit current densities and photoconversion efficiencies were improved by adding a small amount of $SbBr_3$, CsI or RbBr to the perovskite phase, which would be due to the doping effect of Sb, Br and Cs/Rb atom at the Pb, I and $CH_3NH3$ sites, respectively.

Fucoidan Stimulates Glucose Uptake via the PI3K/AMPK Pathway and Increases Insulin Sensitivity in 3T3-L1 Adipocytes (후코이단의 3T3-L1 지방세포에서 PI3K/AMPK 경로를 통한 포도당 흡수 촉진 및 인슐린 민감성 증진 효과)

  • Brown seaweeds have been shown to decrease blood glucose levels and improve insulin sensitivity previously. In this study, we investigated the effect of fucoidan, a complex polysaccharide derived from brown seaweeds, on glucose uptake to improve insulin resistance, and examined its mechanism of action in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. We observed that fucoidan significantly increased glucose uptake and it was related to an increased expression of plasma membrane-glucose transporter 4 (PM-GLUT4) in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Fucoidan treatment increased the activation of phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI3K) and the phosphorylation of insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1tyr) compared with that of the control cells. Fucoidan also promoted the phosphorylation of Akt and protein kinase C (PKC)-λ/ζ compared to that of the control cells. Moreover, fucoidan significantly upregulated acetyl-CoA-carboxylase (ACC) and adenosine monophosphate - activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation. As a result, translocation of GLUT4 was significantly enhanced in 3T3-L1 adipocytes, which significantly promoted glucose uptake via the PI3K/AMPK pathways. The elevation of glucose uptake by fucoidan was blocked by inhibitor of PI3K and inhibitor of AMPK in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. These findings indicate that fucoidan might ameliorate glucose uptake through GLUT4 translocation to the plasma membrane by activating the PI3K/Akt and AMPK pathways in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Fucoidan is thought to be of high material value to diabetes treatments and functional foods.

  • Reaction of AgNO3 with triethanolaminetriisonicotinate (L) produces 1 D coordination polymer of [Ag3(L)2](NO3)3 and the same treatment of Cu(NO3)2 with L gives 1D coordination polymer of [Cu(L)2](NO3)2. The nonrigid triethanolaminetriisonicotinate acts as a m 3-bridged tridentate for [Ag3(L)2](NO3)3 and a m 2-bridged bidentate for [Cu(L)2](NO3)2 to produce unusual motifs. The NO3- anions can be smoothly exchanged by PF6- anions in an aqueous suspension without destruction of the skeletal structure.

Cloning and Characterization of Phosphoinositide 3-Kinase γ cDNA from Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) (넙치에서 분리된 phosphoinositide 3-kinase γ 유전자의 클로닝 및 특성 연구)

  • Phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) plays a central role in cell signaling and leads to cell proliferation, survival, motility, exocytosis, and cytoskeletal rearrangements, as well as specialized cell responses, superoxide production, and cardiac myocyte growth. PI3K is divided into three classes; type I PI3K is preferentially expressed in leukocytes and activated by ${\beta}{\gamma}$ subunits of heterotrimeric G-proteins. In this study, the cDNAs encoding the $PI3K{\gamma}$ gene were isolated from a brain cDNA library constructed using the flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus). The sequence of the isolated $PI3K{\gamma}$ was 1341 bp, encoding 447 amino acids. The nucleotide sequence of the $PI3K{\gamma}$ gene was analyzed with that of other species, including Oreochromis niloticus and Danio rerio, and it turned out to be well conserved during evolution. The $PI3K{\gamma}$ gene was subcloned into the expression vector pET-44a(+), and expressed in the E. coli BL21 (DE3) codon plus cell. The resulting protein was expressed as a fusion protein of approximately 49 kDa containing a C-terminal six-histidine extension that was derived from the expression vector. The expressed protein was purified to homogeneity by His-tag affinity chromatography and showed enzymatic activity corresponding to $PI3K{\gamma}$. The binding of wortmannin to $PI3K{\gamma}$, as detected by anti-wortmannin antisera, closely followed the inhibition of the kinase activities. The results obtained from this study will provide a wider base of knowledge on the primary structure and characterization of the $PI3K{\gamma}$ at the molecular level.

Dielectric Relaxation Properties of KNN-BT Ceramics with (Ba,Ca)SiO3 Glass Frit ((Ba,Ca)SiO3 Glass Frit 첨가에 따른 NKN-BT 세라믹스의 유전 완화 특성)

  • We investigated dielectric relaxation properties of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics by addition (0~0.3 wt%) of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit. All composition of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit showed the same crystallographic properties, coexistence of orthorhombic and tetragonal phase. By increasing addition of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, the Curie temperatures of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were decreased, whereas maximum dielectric constants of $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were dramatically increased. Especially the deviations of Curie temperature $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics were increased by increasing amount of $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit, and it indicated that $0.95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-0.05BaTiO_3$ ceramics added $(Ba,Ca)SiO_3$ glass frit have relaxor characteristics.
