몬테카를로 렌더링을 위한 슈어기반 실시간 에이트러스 웨이블릿 필터 (SURE-based-Trous Wavelet Filter for Interactive Monte Carlo Rendering)

  • 몬테카를로 렌더링은 사진과 흡사한 이미지를 렌더링하는 데 널리 쓰이는 기술이다. 그러나 이 기술로 고품질의 이미지를 얻으려면 픽셀 당 샘플의 수를 증가시켜야 하며, 필연적으로 긴 렌더링 시간을 필요로 한다. 이 문제를 풀기 위하여, 이미지 필터링 기술을 적용할 수 있다. 이는 적은 샘플 수로, 노이즈가 존재하는 렌더링 결과를 빠른 시간 내에 구한 뒤, 필터링을 적용하여 추가적인 샘플 없이 정답 이미지에 근사하는 부드러운 이미지를 얻는 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 에이트러스 웨이블릿필터에 스테인의 공평 에러 추정법(SURE)을 적용하여, 실시간에 가까운 속도로 렌더링한 이미지의 노이즈를 제거하는 방법을 제안한다. 슈어(SURE)를 이용하여 에이트러스 웨이블릿 필터의 필터링으로 인한 에러를 추정할 수 있고, 이를 통하여 에러를 줄이는 방향으로 웨이블릿의 계수를 정할 수 있다. 본 연구진은 이 필터링 방법을 최신 실시간 광선추적법 시스템인 엠브리(embree)에 적용하여 성능을 확인하였다.

  • Let $\{X_{ni},\;1{\leq}i{\leq}n,\;n{\geq}1\}$ be a sequence of LNQD which are dominated randomly by another random variable X. We obtain the complete convergence and almost sure convergence of weighted sums ${\sum}^n_{i=1}a_{ni}X_{ni}$ for LNQD by using a new exponential inequality, where $\{a_{ni},\;1{\leq}i{\leq}n,\;n{\geq}1\}$ is an array of constants. As corollary, the results of some authors are extended from i.i.d. case to not necessarily identically LNQD case.

  • In this paper, under some suitable integrability and smoothness conditions on f, we establish the central limit theorems for $$\sum_{k{\leq}N}k^{-1}f(S_k/{\sigma}\sqrt{k})$$, where $S_k$ is the partial sums of strictly stationary mixing random variables with $EX_1=0$ and ${\sigma}^2=EX^2_1+2\sum_{k=1}^{\infty}EX_1X_{1+k}$. We also establish an almost sure limit behaviors of the above sums.

  • Sono-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) of the thyroid is widely used, but the aspirated samples are typically not well preserved and low cellularity makes diagnosis difficult in many cases. The object of the current study is to evaluate the adequacy and diagnostic accuracy of the use of $SurePath^{TM}$ liquid-based cytology (SP-LBC) in the sonoguided fine needle aspiration of the thyroid nodule and to compare its use with that of the use of a conventional smear (CS). A total of 172 sono-guided FNAs of thyroid nodules from April to June, 2006 were prepared by the use of the split method with either SP-LBC or CS; the samples were stained with the use of hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) and Papanicolaou (Pap) stains. A cyto-histological correlation was performed in 69 (30 SP and 39 CS) cases that had been histologically confirmed. The rate of producing unsatisfactory slides by the use of the SP-LBC method (9.3%) was less than that of the use of the CS method (20.9%). The diagnostic accuracy of the SP method (93.3%) was better than that of the CS method (85.3%). The sensitivity and specificity of the SP method (94.4% and 92.3%) was better than that of the CS method (83.3% and 70%), respectively (p < 0.05). The CS of sono-guided aspirated specimens had some unavoidable limitations related to inadequate sampling such as a bloody background, low cellularity and an indication that some clinicians smeared many useless slides (averaging four to ten slides), and that most slides showed only blood that included few follicular cells. The SP method resulted in more thinly smeared slides and showed cleaner background and greater cellularity than the use of the CS method. Each follicular cell shows superior nuclear detail, and more distinct cytoplasmic features than with the use of the CS method. SP-LBC appears to be an easy, highly accurate, and reliable cytological method for employ for a diagnostic approach of thyroid disease and thyroid nodules. The SP-LBC method is a suitable alternative to the CS method to overcome diagnostic difficulties.

ALMOST SURE LIMITS OF SAMPLE ALIGNMENTS IN PROPORTIONAL HAZARDS MODELS

  • The proportional hazards model (PHM) can be associated with a non- homogeneous Markov chain (NHMC) in the sense that sample alignments in the PHM correspond to trajectories of the NHMC. As a result the partial likelihood widely used for the PHM is a probabilistic function of the trajectories of the NHMC. In this paper, we show that, as the total number of subjects involved increases, the trajectories of the NHMC, i.e. sample alignments in the PHM, converges to the solution of an ordinary differential equation which, subsequently, characterizes the almost sure limit of the partial likelihood.

응축형 복합레진의 파괴거동에 관한 연구 (FRACTURE BEHAVIOR OF CONDENSABLE COMPOSITE RESINS)

  • In this study, compressive strengths of three condensable composite resins(ALERT, SureFil, Solitaire), conventional hybrid composite resin(Z-100) and amalgam(HI-Aristaloy 21) according to the 6 types of cavity design(cylinder, trapezoidal, butt-joint, round bevel, long bevel and short bevel) were measured and appearance of fracture surfaces were observed with SEM, thus evaluated clinical applications of condensable composite resins according to the cavity designs. The results were as follows; 1. Compressive strengths according to experimental materials were the highest in SureFil, and Z-100, ALERT, Solitaire, HI-Aristaloy 21 in order. 2. SureFil showed the highest compressive strength(p<0.05). compressive strengths of ALERT and Solitaire were lower than that of Z-100, hybrid composite(p<0.05). 3. Compressive strengths according to specimen design were the highest in trapezoidal shape(p<0.05) and no significant difference was detected between other specimen designs. 4. The appearance of condensable composite resin under SEM was of a diverse configuration according to component of resin matrix, shapes of filler and surface treatments between resin and filler.

반달가슴곰에서 시행된 고환절제술 (Orchiectomy in the Asiatic Black Bear (Ursus thibetanus))

  • 반달가슴곰 (Ursus thibetanus)은 국제적 멸종위기종으로, 국립공원관리공단에서 종복원 프로그램을 진행 중이다. 하지만 자연방사가 어려운 개체들은 제한된 사육 시설로 인해 곰 개체수 관리가 필요하여 수컷에서 고환절제술을 시행하였다. Tiletamine-zolazepam 2 mg/kg과 medetomidine $40{\mu}g/kg$ 합제를 이용하여 곰을 포획하고, 기관 삽관을 통해 isoflurane으로 전신마취를 유지하였다. 고환절제술은 전음낭 절개를 통해 closed method로 시행되었으며, LigaSure를 사용하여 정삭을 소락 절단였다. 절개면 피하조직은 흡수성 봉합사로 연속봉합 하였으며, 피부는 조직접착제로 봉합하였다. 별다른 부작용 없이 전신마취에서 회복되었으며, 총 마취 시간은 58분(곰 A)과 53분(곰 B)이었다. 수술시간은 26분(곰 A)과 24분(곰 B)이었으며, 술 후 부종이나 합병증은 관찰되지 않았다. 본 연구는 반달가슴곰에서 LigaSure를 이용한 최초의 고환절제술 증례이다.

  • The notion of asymptotically negative dependence for collection of random variables is generalized to a Hilbert space and the almost sure convergence for these H-valued random variables is obtained. The result is also applied to a linear process generated by H-valued asymptotically negatively dependent random variables.
