In this paper a modern sailing boat for our costal area was developed by using the traditional boat hull form. Main particulars of design ship were determined by using the statistical values. Hull form was varied from the traditional boat hull form which was selected by the previous study and modified to fit Lateen sail. The appendage, rudder and keel were designed for good performance of against wind sailing. The performance of hull form was examined and the results were shown.

A reverse-phase system of HPLC using a linear gradient of acetonitrile and deionized water was developed for the quantification lignans, eleutherosides B and E, in Acanthopanax senticosus. The HPLC system consisted of linear gradient of acetonitrile and deionized water, and UV/VIS detection was set at 210 nm. Both eleutherosides B and E contents in different parts of A. senticosus were determined. As a result, the contents of eleutherosides B and E were measured in the leaves (trace amounts and 0.029 mg/g, respectively), stems (0.107 and 1.015 mg/g, respectively), roots (0.026 and 0.390 mg/g, respectively), and fruits (0.022 and 0.043 mg/g, respectively). Moreover, eleutherosides B and E in the water extract were found 0.011 and 0.171 mg/g, respectively.

The paper presents the Philippine maritime condition, safety systems and navigational aids. It aims to uplift the maritime safety systems and infrastructures by studying the different strata of the industry, thereby emphasizing on the structures, weaknesses and opportunities. It presents the different maritime agencies involved and each responsibilities. Data from PPA demonstrate the statistics of increase in the cargo throughput, passenger, shipcalls and cargo-container handled in the year 2014. It also highlights the insufficiency of different navigational aids, VTMS, MBS and TSS placed in the whole archipelago. It gathers data of maritime accidents in 10-year period, 2006-2015, showing the most occurred accidents, casualties and areas these accidents happened. It includes the weather phenomena which contribute to the maritime movements and accidents incidence. The results show that systems and infrastructures that focus on the lack of improvement in technology and over-lapping functions of different agencies of government require development and upgrading.

To increase the riding comfort and running stability of articulated type high speed railway vehicles(HSRV), it is important that the gangway connections for the passenger car satisfied fire safety, sound proof and durability under triaxial angular displacement (rolling/yawing/pitching) modes. On the other hand, a domestic test standard on the durability of the rubber components has not been determined. In this study, the fatigue life was predicted using the results of the nonlinear finite element analysis and the fatigue properties. Moreover, a fatigue rig test of the component was constructed to examine the durability.

In this paper, a soft robotic arm which can prevent impact injury during human-robot interaction is introduced. Two degrees of freedom joint are required to realize free movement of the robotic arm. A robotic joint concept with a single degree of freedom is presented using simple inflatable elements, and then extended to form a robotic joint with two degrees of freedom joint using similar manufacturing methods. The robotic joint with a single degree of freedom has a joint angle of $0^{\circ}$ bending angle when both chamber are inflated at equal pressures and maximum bending angles of $28.4^{\circ}$ and $27.1^{\circ}$ when a single chamber if inflated. The robotic joint with two degrees of freedom also has a bending angle of $0^{\circ}$ in both direction when all three chambers are inflated at equal pressures. When either one or two chambers were pressurized, the robotic joint performed bending towards the uninflated chambers.

In this study, we suggest that Copying Theory suggested by Pym could be effective in translating games. Languages used in games are based on English because of the history of games mainly developed in America. When people are playing games, people pursue effective communication. Because of this, they transform translated words into simple forms or original foreign languages to communicate each other for effective communication, The usage of English in game translation and communication support the idea that Copying strategy could be effective in translating games.

This paper compares the maritime education of two traditional maritime countries, Korea and the Philippines, specifically, in their maritime transportation education. The subjects of this review focus on Mokpo National Maritime University(MMU) and the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy(PMMA). The paper presents the curricular and training programs of both institutions and shows the differences in the curriculum designs and methodology of delivery as contained in the requirements of Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping 1978, as amended in 1995(STCW 95). It also illustrates the social climate of the two countries and the attitude of maritime community in relation with the maritime programs offered by the institutions towards the quality of the competent maritime graduates.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a service system for a digital hologram video, which has not been published yet. This system assumes the existing service framework for 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional image/video, which includes data acquisition, processing, transmission, reception, and reconstruction. This system includes acquisition of color and depth image pairs from a image acquisition system with vertical rigs, rectification of acquired image pairs and generating digital hologram. Also it is designed to reduce the CGH (computer-generated hologram) generation time to 1/3. It also includes some additional and optional functions such as watermarking, compression, and encryption.

Optimizing in-cylinder flow such as tumble or swirl is one of the key factors to develop better internal combustion engines. Especially, the tumble, which is more dominant flow in current high performance gasoline engines, has significant effects on the fuel consumptions and exhaust emissions under part load conditions. The first step for the tumble optimization is to find an accurate but cost-effective way to measure the tumble ratio. From this point of view, tumble ratios from three different measuring methods were compared and correlated in this research. Steady flow rig, water rig, and PIV were utilized for that purpose. Engine dynamometer test was also performed to find out the effect of the tumble. The results show that the tumble ratios from those methods are well correlated and that the steady flow rig is the effective method to measure the tumble despite its limitations.

It is widely known that the home advantage plays an important factor for determining victory or defeat in sport leagues. Thus a ranking system of sport league should take account of the home advantage as a key factor. Various statistical models are studied to rate the Korean Basketball league teams in 2006-2007 season. Among them, the model equation provided by Harville and Smith (1994) is useful for constructing two ranking systems. Both systems give quite reasonable quantifications of the team's ability and the home advantage.
