This study examines the effects of several factors indicating economic openness-imported intermediate goods, total imports, IFDI (inward foreign direct investment), and foreign ownership-on regular, irregular jobs and the ratio of irregular employment to regular employment. Findings revealed that imported intermediate inputs and IFDI affected neither regular nor irregular job figures. However, an increase in total imports led to a decrease in the number of irregular jobs without affecting regular full time jobs, leading to a decrease in the ratio of irregular jobs to regular jobs. On the other hand, changes in foreign ownership structure had a contrary effect, that is, a decrease in the number of regular jobs and an increase in irregular ones, and, thus, an increase in the ratio of irregular jobs to regular jobs. Overall results showed that a rise in imports results in depressed overall employment, irregular employment in particular, while more IFDI results in more irregular jobs replacing regular ones, effectively exacerbating job insecurity. The implication of this analysis is that greater economic openness may have a negative impact on the South Korean labor market overall.
Main motivation for this study was to identify the relationship between high-risk hospital jobs and their symptoms associated. This study has three objectives; 1) Evaluate major jobs of hospital workers based on Criterion(Notification number 2003-24 from Ministry of Labor in Korea) for high-risk musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs), 2) Relate each jobs in criterion and the hospital jobs considered in this study, 3) Relate each jobs in criterion and MSDs symptoms of hospital workers. A total 141 hospital jobs was evaluated. Specifically, a total 688 hospital workers participated in the questionnaire survey in this study. There were two most jobs belonged to the numbers 2 and 4 from criterion. Most hospital workers participated in this study thought that the numbers 1 and 2 from criterion were associated with their jobs. In terms of MSDs symptoms, the numbers 1 and 2 from criterion were associated with their jobs as well. Further study for hospital jobs should be focused on breaking down quantification levels of each numbers in the criterion due to its atypical and non-repetitive job characteristics of hospital jobs.

Due to the rapid performance improvement of smartphones, multitasking on mobile platforms has become an essential feature. Unlike traditional desktop or server environments, mobile applications are mostly interactive jobs where response time is important, and some applications are classified as real-time jobs with deadlines. When interactive and real-time jobs run concurrently, memory allocation between multitasking applications is a challenging issue as they have different time requirements. In this paper, we study how to allocate memory space when real-time and interactive jobs are simultaneously executed in a smartphone to meet the multitasking requirements between heterogeneous jobs. Specifically, we analyze the memory size required to satisfy the constraints of real-time jobs and present a new model for allocating memory space between heterogeneous multitasking jobs. Trace-driven simulations show that the proposed model provides reasonable performance for interactive jobs while guaranteeing the requirement of real-time jobs.
This study investigated medical students' perceptions of good jobs. We classified medical students' perceptions of good jobs and analyzed the characteristics of each type. The Q methodology was used to extract medical students' subjective thoughts. After extracting statements based on previous studies, 46 Q samples were selected. The P sample consisted of 40 medical students divided evenly by gender and grade. They performed a Q sort of the 46 Q sample questionnaire and the results were analyzed using the QUANL ver. 1.2 program. Very few consensus statements were found in the replies. We divided answers into four types, each of which was clearly distinguished: (1) quality of life-oriented jobs, (2) reward-oriented jobs, (3) service-oriented jobs, and (4) self-realization-oriented jobs. Medical students in type 1 prioritized quality of life equally at work and at home. Medical students in type 2 preferred high-paying jobs. Medical students in type 3 placed importance on serving others. Finally, medical students in type 4 viewed good jobs as involving learning and development. The types of jobs sought were classified according to individual students' values and subjectivity. Medical schools may use the results of this study as a basis for career guidance.

This paper deals with the problem of batching and scheduling of jobs whose processing times are different respectively But, they are given as not the exact value but the range from the lower limits to the upper, which makes it possible to group jobs into batches. The grouping of jobs is desirable because of the capability of the batch processor to accommodate several jobs at once. The time required to process the jobs in any batch depends on their lower limit processing times. Once processing is initiated on a batch processor, the batch cannot be interrupted, nor can other jobs be started. And all jobs are assumed to be simultaneously available. This paper develops the model to describe these situation and a heuristic method to minimize its total tardiness.
In deadline scheduling, jobs have deadlines by which they are completed. The scheduling algorithm determines which jobs are executed at each time. Then only the completed jobs contribute to the throughput or gain of the algorithm. The jobs have arbitrary weights and the gain of the algorithm is given as the sum of weights of the completed jobs. The goal of the scheduling algorithm is to maximize its gain. In this paper, we consider online non-preemptive scheduling, where jobs arrive online and the scheduling algorithm has no information about jobs arriving ahead. Also the jobs cannot be preempted or rejected while they are executed. For this problem, we obtain lower bounds for any online algorithms and also we propose an optimal online algorithm meeting the lower bounds.

In cloud, everything can be provided as a service wherein a large number of users submit their jobs and wait for their services. hus, scheduling plays major role for providing the resources efficiently to the submitted jobs. The brainwave of the proposed ork is to improve user satisfaction, to balance the load efficiently and to bolster the resource utilization. Hence, this paper roposes an Adaptive Multilevel Scheduling System (AMSS) which will process the jobs in a multileveled fashion. The first level ontains Preprocessing Jobs with Multi-Criteria (PJMC) which will preprocess the jobs to elevate the user satisfaction and to itigate the jobs violation. In the second level, a Deadline Based Dynamic Priority Scheduler (DBDPS) is proposed which will ynamically prioritize the jobs for evading starvation. At the third level, Contest Mapping Jobs with Virtual Machine (CMJVM) is roposed that will map the job to suitable Virtual Machine (VM). In the last level, VM Scheduler is introduced in the two-tier VM rchitecture that will efficiently schedule the jobs and increase the resource utilization. These contributions will mitigate job iolations, avoid starvation, increase throughput and maximize resource utilization. Experimental results show that the performance f AMSS is better than other algorithms.

This study has three objectives; 1) Evaluate major jobs of hospital workers based on Criterion(Notification number 2003-24 from Ministry of Labor in Korea) for high-risk job for musculoskeletal disorders(MSDs), 2) Relate each jobs in criterion and the hospital jobs considered in this study, 3) Relate each jobs in criterion and MSDs symptoms of hospital workers. A total 141 hospital jobs was evaluated. Most hospital jobs belonged to the numbers 2(Job with repetitive motions by neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist or hand more than 2 hours a day) and 4(Job with unsupported and deviated postures by neck or back more than 2 hours a day) from criterion. Most hospital workers participated in this study thought that the numbers 1(Job with keyboard or mouse work more than 4 hours a day) and 2 from criterion were associated with their jobs. Further study for hospital jobs should be focused on breaking down quantification levels of each numbers in the criterion due to its atypical and non-repetitive job characteristics of hospital jobs.
Purpose - The purpose of this study was to investigate consistency in estimating the number of vacant jobs using the two business labor force survey with two different time points of survey. Design/methodology/approach - We studied the cause of the differences in estimating the number of vacant jobs between the monthly sample and the new sample in business labor force survey. Findings - To summarize our findings, As the size of the company increases, the number of vacant jobs in the company also increases, and the probability that the number of vacant jobs in the company is zero decreases. The monthly sample was assessed to have a higher likelihood that the number of vacant jobs in the company was zero and the number of vacant jobs was considerable compared to the local sample. Research implications or Originality - Because local survey sample companies tend to minimize the number of vacant jobs even when they reply under the same conditions, the estimation result of the number of vacant jobs in the current monthly survey differs significantly from the estimation result of the local survey. Divergent "degrees of knowledge of question items," survey methodologies, or investigators could be the causes of the various response trends.
This research considers scheduling problems with jobs which can be divided into sub-jobs and do not required to be processed immediately following one another. Heuristic algorithms considering how to divide jobs are proposed in an attempt to find near-optimal solutions within reasonable run time. The algorithms contain two phases which are executed recursively. Phase 1 of the algorithm determines how jobs should be divided while phase 2 solves the scheduling problem given the sub-jobs established in phase 1. Simulated annealing and genetic algorithms are applied for the two phases and four heuristic algorithms are established. Numerical experiment is conducted to determine the best parameter values for the heuristic algorithms. Examples with different sizes and levels of complexity are generated. Performance of the proposed algorithms is evaluated. It is shown that the proposed algorithms are able to efficiently and effectively solve the considered problems.
