Purpose: This study was performed to identify the factors of the job stress and to analysis affecting job satisfaction in clinical nurses, using the Job Stress Model by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Method: Data collection was done from July 21 to July 30, 2003. The study was involved in 203 nurses who work at the hospital. It was examined the self-recording questionnaire about general characteristics, work-related factors, non-work factors, instrument revised by NIOSH Job Stress questionnaire translated by the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Research Institute(1999). Instrument about shift work was the tool developed by Kim and Gu(1984). Result: Job satisfaction of subjects at an average level with $1.96{\pm}0.37$ score on the basis of 3 points. According to general characteristics, job satisfaction was high in those with older age and married group. According to work related general factors, job satisfaction was high with working career, an officer to higher grade. According to work characteristics factors, job satisfaction was low with much role conflict at work and much workload and much interpersonal conflict. As for the relationship between job satisfaction and non-work factor, job satisfaction was did not show statistically significant differences. As a result of Stepwise multiple regression analysis, job satisfaction was influenced by shift work, conflicts of between group and grade of office. Conclusion: Therefore, it suggests that the nurses need stress management related shift work for improvement of job satisfaction.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of appearance stress, job-seeking stress, and college life stress on eating attitude in nursing students. Methods: Data were collected in September and October of 2017. A total of 153 fourth-year nursing students were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation and multiple regression analysis were conducted using SAS 9.2. Results: The mean score for eating attitude was 2.71±0.56. From the univariate analysis, appearance, job-seeking, and college life stress scores were all significantly related to eating attitude (r=.26, .35, .30 respectively, and p for all <.001). After controlling for covariates, job-seeking stress and college life stress were significantly related to eating attitude (β=.20 and 0.17 respectively, and p=.005 and .024 respectively). Among the covariates, experience of diet and physical anxiety were significantly associated with eating behavior (β=.33 and .24 respectively, and p<.001 and .008 respectively). Conclusion: Job-seeking stress had the biggest influence on eating attitude, followed by college life stress. Therefore, in order to promote healthy eating attitudes in fourth-year nursing students, preventive measures focusing on decreasing job-seeking stress should be considered as a top priority.

Background: It is acknowledged that legislation acts as a motivator for organizational action on psychosocial risks. Our study aims to provide evidence on the relationship between key occupational safety and health (OSH) policy principles and organizational action on work-related stress, and, in turn, with reported employee job demands and resources and their experience of work-related stress. We focus on Italy where specific legislation and practices on work-related stress were introduced in 2008 which are underpinned by these key OSH policy principles. Methods: Secondary analysis of the Italian samples from the employer ESENER-2 and employee 6th EWCS surveys was conducted, using path analysis in structural equation modeling (SEM) linking the two datasets. Results: We found a strong statistically significant relationship between OSH policy principles and organizational action on work-related stress (C.I. = .62-.78 p < .001). The existence of an organizational action plan on work-related stress was found to be significantly associated with more reported job resources (C.I. = .02-.24, p < .05) but these were not found to be significantly associated with less work-related stress. No significant association was found between having an organizational action plan for work-related stress and reported job demands. However, job demands were significantly related to reported work-related stress (C.I. = .27-.47, p < .001). Conclusions: Findings add support to the call for specific legislation on work-related psychosocial risks and highlight how an organizational OSH culture underpinned by key OSH principles, and awareness/competence development on psychosocial risk management can have a positive effect on organizational action. However, further support needs to be provided to organizations around developing primary prevention interventions at the organizational level with the aim of reducing job demands.
This study aims to explore the importance of job stress for hospital employees and psychosocial risk factors of their job stress. 1,890 survey questionnaires collected from 14 hospitals are used for the analysis. The study results shows that stress is the most important risk factor perceived by hospital workers. Also stress-related symptoms and diseases are perceived to occur most frequently among hospital employees. The multiple logistic regression analysis shows age, working hours, shiftwork, job demand, decision-latitude and social support from supervisor and colleagues affect stress level of hospital employees.

Background: The ongoing economic crisis in Greece has affected both stress and quality of life (QoL) at all socioeconomic levels, including professionals in the police force. The aim of this study was to examine perceived stress, job satisfaction, QoL, and their relationships in a sample of police officers in Greece. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted during the first trimester of 2011 in 23 police stations in the greater Athens area. A total of 201 police officers agreed to participate (response rate 44.6%). The General Health Questionnaire-28 (GHQ-28) was used to assess general health, and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF Questionnaire and Perceived Stress Scale-14 (PSS-14) questionnaires were used to assess QoL and perceived stress, respectively. Results: The PSS and GHQ subscales and total scores exhibited strong, positive, and significant correlations coefficients (r): 0.52 for somatic disturbances, 0.56 for stress and insomnia, 0.40 for social dysfunction, and 0.37 for depression, yielding an r equal to 0.57 for the total GHQ score. A higher level of perceived stress was related to a lower likelihood of being satisfied with their job; in this regard, male participants and higher ranked officers reported lower job satisfaction. The PSS and GHQ scores were inversely, consistently, and significantly related to almost all of the QoL aspects, explaining up to 34% of their variability. Parenthood had a positive effect on QoL related to physical health, and women reported lower QoL related to psychological health. Conclusion: Higher levels of stress are related to an increased risk of reporting suboptimal job satisfaction and QoL. The magnitude of these associations varied depending on age, gender, and rank, highlighting the need for stress-management training.
Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the job stress of school nurses and reducing their the job stress by analyzing degree of the stress according to the factors related to job stress. Methods: The participants were 136 school nurses who worked in Pusan province. The Data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires from Dec. 11th in 2006 to Feb. 9th in 2007. The data were analyzed by Frequency, Mean, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Stepwise multiple regression analysis (SPSSwin 12.0s). Results: There was significant difference of the degree of job stress in age. There was significantly negative relationship between the job characteristics and job stress (r=-.473), job satisfaction and job stress (r=-.561), personal values and job stress (r=-.429), achievement motivation and job stress (r=-.215) at p<.01 level. The major factor which influence the degree of job stress was job satisfaction. Conclusion: The factors affecting the job stress of school nurses was correlated with one another and influenced to the degree of the job stress directly and indirectly. The factor that affected the degree of the job stress directly was the job satisfaction and the personal values. As shown this result, it is important that the factor of the job stress lies in the mental characteristics.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of occupational stress factors on the level of stress and depression of entertainment program producers and entertainment program writers. Methods: This study was based on analysis of a survey collected by 65 respondents out of 224 questionnaires who are entertainment program PDs and entertainment program writers. The survey was conducted from December 20, 2017 to February 20, 2018. Results: In the logistic regression analysis conducted to investigate the factors affecting the stress level in the job-related characteristics of a) higher total career, b) shorter working period in the current firm, c) longer weekly working hours and d) more count of weekend work, the results found higher stress levels. In the sub-factors of job stress, the stress level encountered by respondents was significantly higher for those with a) higher job demand, b) lower insufficient job control and c) higher job instability. In the logistic regression analysis conducted to investigate the factors affecting depression, the depression level in entertainment PD was higher than the entertainment writer in the sociodemographic characteristics. In the sub-factors of job stress, the stress level was significantly higher for those with higher job demand, lower insufficient job control, and higher job instability. For job-related characteristics, depression was significantly higher for longer weekly working hours. Conclusions: Entertainment program producers and entertainment program writers suffer from psychosocial stress and depression which are caused by excessive job demands, lack of job autonomy and job instabilities. Those factors must be managed and also their workweek should be shortened.
This research study explores the job stress, job satisfaction, and health of women who works in the professional work place and identify the influence of the job stress and job satisfaction on the mental health status focused on the social and psychological structure of the workplace. Method: 535 participants of registered nurses and teachers from 10 General Hospitals and 15 Middle and High School located in Seoul, Korea were completed the modified version of the short form Work-family stress inventory of questionnaire as used for job stress and mental health problems and perceived overall health status and job satisfaction. Result: Job stress was significantly correlated with job satisfaction, overall health, and mental health. There were also significant group differences in job stress and job satisfaction between nurses and teachers. Multiple regression only moderately supported the effect of job stress and job satisfaction on the mental health of professional working women. Also marital status demonstrated a significant factor of group differences in job stress, work-family stress, job satisfaction, and mental health problem. Conclusion: These results suggest that job stress in the work place has profound impact on job satisfaction and health of women who work in the professional job. This study also identified major sources and types of work-related stress on women's health which should be considered in a management for health promotion.
Purpose: This study was performed to provide basic data for nursing intervention plan to improve health related to task by examining whether nurses' burnout is related with job stress, job satisfaction, social support, and self efficacy in hospitals. Methods: The participants were 320 nurses who work at 5 different university hospitals with individual agreement for this study. The questionnaire were provided to the subjects. Data analysis was done by Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression were used. Results: Estimated regression model of burnout of nurses was statistically significant (F=119.88, p<.001). Major factors which affect burnout of nurses were job stress (${\beta}=.54$), job satisfaction (${\beta}=-.31$), and social support (${\beta}=-.20$) which explained 53.4% of burnout of nurse. As a result of examining the assumption of the regression, all results were satisfactory with the assumption of the regression equation. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, It is nacessary to reduce job stress and increse job satisfaction and social support in order to reduce burnout of nurse. Job stress management may be needed mostly because job stress was the highest level of prediction against burnout.
Objectives: The present study was intended to assess the mental health of nurses working for university hospitals and to establish which factors determine their mental health. Methods: Self-administered questionnaires were given to 1,486 nurses employed in six participating hospitals located in Daejeon City and Chungnam Province between July 1 st and August 31st, 2006. The questionnaire items included sociodemographic, job-related, and psychosocial factors, with job stress factors (JCQ) as independent variables and indices of mental health status (PWI, SDS and MFS) as dependent variables. For statistical analysis, the Chi-square test was used for categorical variables, with hierarchical multiple regression used for determining the factors effecting mental health. The influence of psychosocial and job-related factors on mental health status was assessed by covariance structure analysis. The statistical significance was set at p<0.05. Results: The factors influencing mental health status among subject nurses included sociodemographic characteristics such as age, number of hours of sleep, number of hours of leisure, and subjective health status; job-related characteristics such as status, job satisfaction, job suitability, stresses such as demands of the job, autonomy, and coworker support; and psychosocial factors such as self-esteem, locus of control and type A behavior patterns. Psychosocial factors had the greatest impact on mental health. Covariance structure analysis determined that psychosocial factors affected job stress levels and mental health status, and that the lower job stress levels were associated with better mental health. Conclusions: Based on the study results, improvement of mental health status among nurses requires the development and application of programs to manage job stress factors and/or psychosocial factors as well as sociodemographic and job-related characteristics.
