부사관의 성격 5요인과 소진과의 관련성 (The Relationship between Big Five Personality Factors and Burnout in Non-commissioned Officers)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 부사관의 성격 5요인과 소진 간의 관련성을 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 부사관 182명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고 이를 분석하였다. 먼저 부사관의 소진정도를 알아본 결과, 소진의 하위요인인 탈진, 냉담, 성취감 저하 중 탈진이 가장 높고, 성취감 저하가 가장 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 20대와 30대 부사관들이 40대 이상 부사관들에 비해 소진(전체)과 소진의 하위요인인 냉담이 심한 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 성격 5요인 중 어느 요인이 소진에 더 많이 설명하는 지 분석하기 위해 중다회귀분석과 다변량다중회귀분석을 하였다. 그 결과, 소진(전체)에는 외향성과 친밀성이, 소진의 하위요인인 탈진, 냉담, 성취감 저하에는 외향성이 통계적으로 유의미하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 부사관의 소진을 예방하기 위한 정책을 세우는 데 도움이 될 것으로 보인다. 마지막으로 본 연구가 가지고 있는 한계점을 논의하였다.

Digital image-based plant phenotyping: a review

  • With the current rapid growth and increase in the world's population, the demand for nutritious food and fibers and fuel will increase. Therefore, there is a serious need for the use of breeding programs with the full potential to produce high-yielding crops. However, existing breeding techniques are unable to meet the demand criteria even though genotyping techniques have significantly progressed with the discovery of molecular markers and next-generation sequencing tools, and conventional phenotyping techniques lag behind. Well-organized high-throughput plant phenotyping platforms have been established recently and developed in different parts of the world to address this problem. These platforms use several imaging techniques and technologies to acquire data for quantitative studies related to plant growth, yield, and adaptation to various types of abiotic or biotic stresses (drought, nutrient, disease, salinity, etc.). Phenotyping has become an impediment in genomics studies of plant breeding. In recent years, phenomics, an emerging domain that entails characterizing the full set of phenotypes in a given species, has appeared as a novel approach to enhance genomics data in breeding programs. Imaging techniques are of substantial importance in phenomics. In this study, the importance of current imaging technologies and their applications in plant phenotyping are reviewed, and their advantages and limitations in phenomics are highlighted.

한국 남자 군인 현 방한복의 치수, 동작적합성 만족도에 관한 연구 (Satisfaction on Fitness and Motion Suitability of Korean male Military Winter Jacket)

  • This study investigates the problems of fitness and motion suitability for Korean male military winter jackets (inner and outer) and provides data for new pattern development. We analyzed fitness and motion suitability by a questionnaire survey with 140 Korean male soldiers and a wearing evaluation with 7 subjects of central army male size. A survey of male soldiers indicated that the fitness and motion suitability satisfaction was over 3.0 (Likert scale) for both inner and outer jackets. There were opinions that the sleeve length was short for the inner jacket and the waist girth and hem girth was slightly large for the outer jacket. In the wearing evaluation results with subjects of central army male size, fitness of total length, sleeve length and collar height showed a score lower than 3.0 for the inner jacket and collar height on the outer jacket. The motion suitability result showed a low score (1.0-2.0) in an arm raising motion for the inner jacket and 2.0-3.0 at neck motion in the outer jacket. In conclusion, there is more dissatisfaction in inner jackets than outer jackets. For the inner jacket, sleeve is short, sleeve hem is narrow, collar height is a little high and the sleeve creeps up during arm motion. The waist girth and hem girth was slightly large and collar height was a little high for the outer jacket.

보육시설이용이 기혼여성 취업에 미치는 영향 - 어린이집 입소 순위를 중심으로 - (The Impacts of Uses of Childcare Facilities on Mothers' Labor Supply under a Rationing Mechanism)

  • 최근 맞벌이 가구 자녀에게 어린이집 입소 1순위를 부여하여 보육시설 이용에서 맞벌이 가구에게 우선순위를 부여하는 정책 기조가 강화되어 왔다. 본 연구는 한국노동패널 19~21차연도 자료를 이용하여 취업모 우선 보육정책이 강화된 시기 보육시설이 기혼여성 취업에 미치는 영향을 분석했다. 취업모 우선 보육정책은 취업 가능성이 높은 기혼여성을 시설 이용에서 배제하는 결과를 초래할 가능성이 있다. 한계 처치효과(MTE) 분석 방법을 사용하여 보육수요가 공급을 초과하는 경우 우선순위에 따라 정책 대상이 되는 부분 모집단이 결정되게 되는 선택편의를 제거했다. 분석 결과, 보육시설 이용하는 기혼여성의 취업 효과가 보육시설을 이용하지 않는 기혼여성의 취업 효과와 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 차이가 없음을 시사한다.

독성물질 저감을 위한 TURA 도입방안에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Introduction of TURA for the Reduction Toxic Chemicals)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to review the Toxic UseReduction Act of Massachusetts, USA, which has been evaluated as a successfulcase of a chemical reduction policy, and to search for ways to introduce it inKorea. Methods: We analyzed the implementation of the TURA by attending TUR Planning Course of the Toxic Use Reduction Institute in Massachusetts and researching the related literature. Results: As TURA took effect, the use of chemicals in Massachusetts was reduced, and cost savings were achieved in workplaces. The success factors for the legislation are considered to be support form the federal and state governments and the active participation of business and civic group. Domestic efforts to reduce toxic substances have already begun, so if the process of TURA is appropriately applied to domestic legislation of chemicals control, it would be expected to produce visible results. Therefore, we reviewed the 'Act on Chemicals Registration and Assessment', 'Act on Chemical Control' and 'Act on the Integrated Control of Pollutant-Discharging Facilities' and sought solution for applying TURA to each piece of legislation. For the first case, 'Toxic or Hazardous Substance List' and 'Establishment of Toxic Use Fee' is applicable. For the second case, 'Annual Toxic or Hazardous Substance Reports' is applicable. For the third case, 'Toxic Reduction Plans' and 'Toxics Use Reduction Institute and 'Toxic Use Reduction Planners' is applicable. Conclusions: The government should take notice appropriateness for the reduction of toxic chemicals and provide financial support. Businesses should invest in technologies that build trust with local communities, improve productivity, and reduce costs. Finally, civic group should cooperate with government and businesses.

HIV-l 유래 렌티바이러스 벡터의 복제가능 바이러스 검출과 역가측정 분석방법 비교 (Comparison of Analysis Methods for Detection of Replication Competent Virus and Functional Titers of HIV-l Based Lentivirus Vector)

  • Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1 (HIV-l) based lentivirus vector has demonstrated great potential as gene therapy vectors mediating efficient gene delivery and long-term transgene expression in both dividing and nondividing cells. However, for clinical studies it must be confirmed that vector preparations are safe and not contaminated by replication competent lentivirus (RCL) related to the parental pathogenic virus, HIV-l. In this study, we would like to establish the method for titration and RCL detection of lentivirus vector. The titration was determined by vector expression containing the green fluorescent protein, GFP in transduced cells. The titer was $1{\times}10^7$ Transducing Unit/ml in the GFP expression assay and $8.9{\times}10^7$ molecules/ml in the real-time PCR. Also, for the detection of RCL, we have used a combination method of PCR and p24 antigen detection. First, PBS/psi and VSV-G region in the genomic DNA of transduced cells was detected by PCR assay. Second, transfer and expression of the HIV-1 gag gene was detected by p24 ELISA. In an attempt to amplify any RCL, the transduced cells were cultured for 3 weeks (amplification phase) and the supernatant of amplified transduced cell was used for the second transduction to determine whether a true RCL was present (indicator phase). Analysis of cells and supernatant at day 6 in indicator phase were negative for PBS/psi, VSV-G, and p24 antigen. These results suggest that they are not mobilized and therefore there are no RCL in amplification phase. Thus, real-time PCR is a reliable and sensitive method for titration and RCL detection of lentivirus vector.

영동 영국사 출토 금동여래입상, 동제여래입상 분석 및 보존처리 (Analysis and Conservation Treatment of Gilt-bronze Standing Buddha and Bronze Standing Buddha Statues Excavated from Yeongguksa Temple in Yeongdong)

  • 국립청주박물관 소장 충북 영동 영국사 출토 금동여래입상과 동제여래입상의 과학적 조사와 보존처리를 하였다. 성분분석 결과, 금동여래입상은 구리, 주석, 납의 삼원계, 동제여래입상은 구리, 주석의 이원계 합금으로 확인되었다. 동제여래입상 성분분석 결과 금이 확인되어 금동여래입상으로 명칭이 수정되어야 할 것이다. 금동여래입상은 국내에서 생산된 납을 원료로 하여 제작되었을 것으로 유추할 수 있었고, 표면에 존재하는 개금을 위한 접착제로 보이는 물질은 분석을 통해 옻으로 추정되었다. 보존처리는 상태를 확인하여 물리적, 화학적 방법으로 최소한의 이물질을 제거하고, 안정화처리 및 보호 코팅의 과정을 거쳤다.

Multicenter Evaluation of Seegene Anyplex TB PCR for the Detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Respiratory Specimens

  • Culture is the gold standard for diagnosis of tuberculosis, but it takes 6 to 8 weeks to confirm the result. This issue is complemented by the detection method using polymerase chain reaction, which is now widely used in a routine microbiology laboratory. In this study, we evaluated the performance of the Seegene Anyplex TB PCR to assess its diagnostic sensitivity and specificity, and compared its results with the Roche Cobas TaqMan MTB PCR, one of the most widely used assays in the world. Five university hospitals located in the Chungcheong area in South Korea participated in the study. A total of 1,167 respiratory specimens ordered for acid-fast bacilli staining and culture were collected for four months, analyzed via the Seegene Anyplex TB PCR, and its results were compared with the Roche Cobas TaqMan MTB PCR. For detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of the Anyplex TB PCR were 87.5% and 98.2% respectively, whereas those of the Cobas TaqMan were 92.0% and 98.0% respectively (p value > 0.05). For smear-positive specimens, the sensitivity of the Anyplex TB PCR was 95.2%, which was exactly the same as that of the Cobas TaqMan. For smear-negative specimens, the sensitivity of the Anyplex TB PCR was 69.2%, whereas that of the Cobas TaqMan TB PCR was 84.6%. For detection of MTB, the Seegene Anyplex TB PCR showed excellent diagnostic performance, and high sensitivity and specificity, which were comparable to the Roche Cobas TaqMan MTB PCR. In conclusion, the Anyplex TB PCR can be a useful diagnostic tool for the early detection of tuberculosis in clinical laboratories.

Current Challenges in Bacterial Transcriptomics

  • Over the past decade or so, dramatic developments in our ability to experimentally determine the content and function of genomes have taken place. In particular, next-generation sequencing technologies are now inspiring a new understanding of bacterial transcriptomes on a global scale. In bacterial cells, whole-transcriptome studies have not received attention, owing to the general view that bacterial genomes are simple. However, several recent RNA sequencing results are revealing unexpected levels of complexity in bacterial transcriptomes, indicating that the transcribed regions of genomes are much larger and complex than previously anticipated. In particular, these data show a wide array of small RNAs, antisense RNAs, and alternative transcripts. Here, we review how current transcriptomics are now revolutionizing our understanding of the complexity and regulation of bacterial transcriptomes.

실시간 가스터빈 엔진 시뮬레이터를 적용한 소형 제트엔진 성능시험장치 개발 (Development of a Small Jet Engine Performance Test Device by Applying the Real-time Gas Turbine Engine Simulator)

  • 가상엔진 시뮬레이터를 이용한 시험장치는 실제 엔진을 이용한 시험과 유사한 시험 수행을 통하여 엔진 시험 횟수를 줄이고 동일한 조건에서 반복 시험이 가능하므로 엔진 정비 및 운용비용을 감소시켜 준다. 그리고 실제 시험에서 수행하기 어려운 극한 상황을 쉽게 구현할 수 있기 때문에 실제 엔진 시험 시 발생할 수 있는 엔진 손상 및 위험한 시험을 대체해 준다. 본 연구에서는 사전 연구를 통해 개발하였던 소형제트엔진 성능시험장치에 실시간 엔진 모델을 적용하여 실제 엔진 시험과 가상 엔진 시험을 다목적으로 수행할 수 있는 업그레이드 된 소형제트엔진 성능시험장치를 개발하였다. 새로 개발된 다목적 소형 제트엔진 성능시험장치는 교육용 및 연구용으로 더욱 다양하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
