In wireless communication systems, jamming attack is a critical threat. Especially, reactive jamming can jam when the sender and receiver are communicating, which can maximize the attack efficiency of jamming. In this paper, we use the property of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology to achieve jamming resilient orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) communications. In particular, we use MIMO interference cancellation to remove the jamming signals strategically. We first investigate the reactive jamming attack model and their impacts on the MIMO-OFDM systems. We then present an iterative channel estimation algorithm that exploits MIMO interference cancellation. Our simulations show various anti-jamming methods and demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed algorithm under the reactive jamming attack.

Radio jamming attack is the most effective and easiest Denial-of-Service (DOS) attack in wireless network. In this paper, we proposed a multi-channel MAC protocol to mitigate the jamming attacks by using cognitive radio. The Cognitive Radio (CR) technology supports real-time spectrum sensing and fast channel switching. By using CR technologies, the legitimate nodes can perform periodic spectrum sensing to identify jamming free channels and when the jamming attack is detected, it can switch to un-jammed channel with minimum channel switching delay. In our proposed protocol, these two CR technologies are exploited for thwarting the jamming attacks.

Mobile Ad-hoc Networks provide communication without a centralized infrastructure, which makes them suitable for communication in disaster areas or when quick deployment is needed. On the other hand, they are susceptible to malicious exploitation and have to face different challenges at different layers due to its open Ad-hoc network structure which lacks previous security measures. Denial of service (DoS) attack is one that interferes with the radio transmission channel causing a jamming attack. In this kind of attack, an attacker emits a signal that interrupts the energy of the packets causing many errors in the packet currently being transmitted. In harsh environments where there is constant traffic, a jamming attack causes serious problems; therefore measures to prevent these types of attacks are required. The objective of this paper is to carry out the simulation of the jamming attack on the nodes and determine the DoS attacks in OPNET so as to obtain better results. We have used effective anomaly detection system to detect the malicious behaviour of the jammer node and analyzed the results that deny channel access by jamming in the mobile Ad-hoc networks.

Radio frequency (RF) jamming is a denial of service attack targeted at wireless networks. In resource-hungry scenarios with constant traffic demand, jamming can create connectivity problems and seriously affect communication. Therefore, the vulnerabilities of wireless networks must be studied. In this study, we investigate a particular type of RF jamming that exploits the semantics of physical (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) layer protocols. This can be extended to any wireless communication network whose protocol characteristics and operating frequencies are known to the attacker. We propose two efficient jamming techniques: A low-data-rate random jamming and a shot-noise based protocol-aware RF jamming. Both techniques use shot-noise pulses to disrupt ongoing transmission ensuring they are energy efficient, and they significantly reduce the detection probability of the jammer. Further, we derived the tight upper bound on the duration and the number of shot-noise pulses for Wi-Fi, GSM, and WiMax networks. The proposed model takes consider the channel access mechanism employed at the MAC layer, data transmission rate, PHY/MAC layer modulation and channel coding schemes. Moreover, we analyze the effect of different packet sizes on the proposed jamming methodologies. The proposed jamming attack models have been experimentally evaluated for 802.11b networks on an actual testbed environment by transmitting data packets of varying sizes. The achieved results clearly demonstrate a considerable increase in the overall jamming efficiency of the proposed protocol-aware jammer in terms of packet delivery ratio, energy expenditure and detection probabilities over contemporary jamming methods provided in the literature.

In modern warfare, jamming for neutralizing the enemy electronic equipments is as important as destroying them by common weapon systems. Noise jamming is a base technique of EA(Electronic Attack) and it is one of the effective jamming techniques. Noise jamming is effective regardless of enemy electronic equipment receiver types. For increasing jamming efficiency using the same output power, noise jamming bandwidth has to be similar to target receiver's bandwidth. Radar jamming source like DRFM(Digital Radio Frequency Memory) requires noise bandwidth changing immediately for time sharing multiple jamming. In this paper, we developed bandwidth changable noise jamming signal for phase sampling type DRFM and do simulation using Matlab for showing the jamming signal output.

The emerging scope of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) has piqued the interest of industry and academia in recent times. Therefore, security becomes the main issue to prevent the possibility of cyberattacks. Jamming attacks are threads that can affect performance and cause significant problems for IoT device. This study explores a smart jamming attack (coalition attack) in which the attackers were previously a part of the legitimate network and are now back to attack it based on the gained knowledge. These attackers regroup into a coalition and begin exchanging information about the legitimate network to launch attacks based on the gained knowledge. Our system enables jammer nodes to select the optimal transmission rates for attacks based on the attack probability table, which contains the most probable link transmission rate between nodes in the legitimate network. The table is updated constantly throughout the life cycle of the coalition. The simulation results show that a coalition of jammers can cause highly successful attacks.

Cognitive Radio network (CR) is a promising paradigm that helps the unlicensed user (Secondary User) to analyse the spectrum and coordinate the spectrum access to support the creation of common control channel (CCC). The cooperation of secondary users and broadcasting between them is done through transmitting messages in CCC. In case, if the control channels may get jammed and it may directly degrade the network's performance and under such scenario jammers will devastate the control channels. Hopping sequences may be one of the predominant approaches and it may be used to fight against this problem to confront jammer. The jamming attack can be alleviated using one of the game modelling approach and in this proposed scheme stochastic games has been analysed with more single users to provide the flexible control channels against intrusive attacks by mentioning the states of each player, strategies ,actions and players reward. The proposed work uses a modern player action and better strategic view on game theoretic modelling is stochastic game theory has been taken in to consideration and applied to prevent the jamming attack in CR network. The selection of decision is based on Q learning approach to mitigate the jamming nodes using the optimal MDP decision process

As a dependency on Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) becomes increase in various applications, its reliability has been very important. However, in South Korea, Global Positioning System (GPS) jamming incident happened four times since 2010. GNSS signal is so weak that it is highly susceptible to all types of the jamming. GNSS jamming can cause serious damage in the safety-critical applications based on the GNSS. In this paper, we present the GNSS jamming signal propagation prediction simulator based on ITU-R P.1546 model. This simulator is developed for preventing or reducing the damage from the GNSS jamming attack by predicting the jamming propagation strength based on the geographical information in Korean peninsula.

The MTD-based approach changes various operating parameters dynamically so that the vulnerability of the system can be protected from the malicious attack. In this paper, random/serial scanning/jamming attack success probabilities have been mathematically analyzed and verified through simulation to improve the security of the wireless communication systems in which the MTD-SDR technologies are applied. As a result, for random scanning attacks, attack success probability increases as the change period of transmission channel increases, while for random jamming attacks there is no change. The attack success probability patterns for serial attacks are similar to those of random attacks, but when the change period of transmission channel approaches to the total number of transmission channels, the success probability of serial attack is getting greater than that of random attack, up to twice in jamming attacks and up to 36% in scanning attacks.

In modern warfare, various target tracking radars are used for target location tracking. So, the importance of EA radar jamming technique which disrupt enemy target tracking radar in oder to neutralize tararget location tracking has increased. VGPO/I jamming is a base technique of EA(Electronic Attack), it is possible to operate to pulse-Doppler radar. In this papar, we develop VGPO/I jamming technique that can apply to phase sampled DRFM by using phase information and verifiy through simulations.
