  • Isolated phase bus is, as a special bus which allows large current from a generator to main transformer, composed of main conductor, enclosure and auxiliary equipments such as insulating bellows, bus elbows, support insulator, etc. To develop this kind of high power devices, it is required to secure the technique of selection of conducting and insulating materials, basic arrangement skills, and analysis on eddy current which causes temperature increase in enclosures. By the way, these techniques are based on the analysis of electromagnetic phenomena for high voltage and large current. In this study, an electromagnetic field analysis program is developed and applied to the isolated phase bus. which could be the basic numerical method for the analysis design and modifying isolated phase bus.

  • Isolated phase bus(IPS) has a special structure for carrying large current generated by a generator to a main transformer. In the analysis of IPB, the understanding of the magnetic field distribution generated by large current is important. Especially, while the bus conductor current is flowing, almost same amount of current as bus conductor current is induced in the enclosures under the influence of time varying magnetic field, and therefore the large electric loss and the deterioration of insulating capability might occur due to Joule heating effect. Hence for the optimal design of IPB satisfying the condition to minimize the loss, the accurate analysis of magnetic field distribution and the eddy current characteristics of three phase isolated phase bus have been investigated. In the analysis of time varying magnetic field, instead of finite difference method(FDM) which is generally used, finite element method with phasor concept is investigated under the assumption that the bus current is purely sinusoidal. The characteristics is studied along the phase angle by comparing the effect of eddy current on the magnetic field distribution with the case that eddy current is not considered, and also the effect of material, thickness and radius of enclosure on the eddy current distribution is discussed.

  • Bus Way는 발전기 단자와 변압기 단자의 연결부분, 변압기와 Switching장치의 연결부분등에 주로 사용되고 있다. 최근에는 발전기 변압기등의 단위용량이 점차 증가하고 있으며, 사용전압 및 전류도 높아지고 있어, Bus Way system도 고도의 기술을 요하게 되었다. 대전력용으로 널리 사용되고 있는 IPB(Isolated Phase Bus)의 경우, 외국에서는 이에 대한 상당한 연구가 오래전 부터 진행되어 왔으나, 국내에서는 이에대한 기술이 미흡하여 장치의 대부분을 외국에 의존하고 있다. 본고에서는 IPB를 중심으로 Bus Way의 설계시 고려해야할 일반적인 사항에 대하여 기술하였다.

  • Because of resonance between natural frequency of the second floor base for IPB(Isolated Phase Bus) duct supports in a power plant and operation frequency of the turbine, there was high amplitude vibration on IPB duct. To reduce vibration of IPB duct, Firstly it was set a FEM model to seek the mode shape for the concrete structure. Secondly, it was carried out dynamic analysis for the FEM model. Lastly, because the natural frequency of the concrete structure could not be changed, it was changed supports position for the IPB duct near to beams. It resulted in reducing vibration of IPB duct.

Battery Energy Storage Based Voltage and Frequency Controller for Isolated Pico Hydro Systems

  • This paper deals with an integrated voltage and frequency (VF) controller for isolated asynchronous generators (IAG) driven by a constant power pico-hydro uncontrolled turbine feeding three-phase four-wire loads. The proposed VF controller is used to control the frequency and voltage of an IAG with load leveling. Such a VF controller is also known as an integrated electronic load controller (IELC) which is realized using an isolated star/polygon transformer with a voltage source converter (VSC) and a battery at its DC bus. The proposed generating system with a VFC is modeled and simulated in MATLAB along with Simulink and Simpower system (SPS) toolboxes. The simulated results are presented to demonstrate the performance of an isolated asynchronous generator feeding three-phase four-wire loads with neutral current compensation.

  • This paper deals with a novel solid state controller (NSSC) for an isolated asynchronous generator (IAG) feeding 3-phase 4-wire loads driven by constant power prime movers, such as uncontrolled pico hydro turbines. AC capacitor banks are used to meet the reactive power requirement of the asynchronous generator. The proposed NSSC is realized using a set of IGBTs (Insulated gate bipolar junction transistors) based current controlled 2-leg voltage source converters (CC- VSC) and a DC chopper at its DC bus, which keeps the generated voltage and frequency constant in spite of changes in consumer loads. The neutral point of the load is created using aT-configuration of the transformers. The IAG system is modeled in MATLAB along with Simulink and PSB (power system block set) toolboxes. The simulated results are presented to demonstrate the capability of the isolated generating system consisting of NSSC and IAG driven by uncontrolled pico hydro turbine and feeding 3-phase 4-wire loads.

  • 중앙버스전용차로제가 도입됨에 따라 서울의 도로환경은 단기간에 급격하게 변하였으며, 이러한 급격한 변화에 미리 준비되지 못하였던 신호운영상의 문제점들이 경험되고 있다. 장 임계적인 문제점으로 중앙버스전용차로 설치구간 신호교차로에서 일반차량 좌회전 진행을 허용할 경우, 현재 우리나라가 규정하고 있는 차량 4색신호등의 한계로 인한 신호의 비효율적 운영이다. 중앙버스전용차로 설치구간 신호교차로에서 일반차량 좌회전의 현실적 운영방안 마련이 필요하다. 본 연구는 중앙차로전용신호의 도입을 준비하기 위하여 교통관제센터의 신호운영모드별 선행좌회전 및 후행좌회전 운영방안을 검토하고, 각 운영방안 별 Signal Map 구성방안을 점검한다. Signal Map 작성방안을 검토한 결과 기존의 신호제어 장비에 추가의 신호등기신호보드를 활용하는 방법으로 제안된 방법의 현장 적용이 용이한 것으로 확인되었다.

  • This paper proposes a novel UPFE based on H-bridge modules, isolated through single-phase multi-winding transformers. The dynamic performance of proposed system was analyzed by simulation with EMTDC, assuming that the UPFC is connected with the 138-kV transmission line of one-machine-infinite-bus power system. The proposed system can be directly connected to the transmission line without series injection transformers. It has flexibility in expanding the operation voltage by increasing the number of H-bridge modules.
