Acrylic Polymer Composition Suitable for Ion Delivery and Selective Detection of Proton, and Hydroxyl and Cu(II) Ions (이온 이동에 적합한 아크릴고분자 박막의 조성과 수소이온, 수산화이온, 구리이온의 선택적 검출)

  • Ion diffusion and chemical binding to acrylic polymer were investigated in a solid film. The composition of acrylic monomers containing amino group and carboxylic acid was adjusted for rapid ion migration in the film. p-Methylred (PMR) and phenolphthalein derivatives were optically sensitive to the concentration of proton and hydroxyl anion, respectively and verified the ion migration through the film layers. A rapid proton migration was observed in the film of a high amino content. On the other hand, $OH^-$ migration occurred rapidly in a high content of carboxylic acid group. The proton migration occurred through the internal layer as well as surface layer of a film and was reversible during 50 repetition examination. Copper(II) ion migration was examined with a Rhodamine-containing polymer film. The light absorption and emission spectra of a Rhodamine-Cu complex showed the key contribution of carboxylic acid group to the Cu(II) migration in a film.

The Study of Corrosion Induced Co migration and Its Effect on Thermal Asperity Phenomenon (부식작용으로 인하여 디스크면으로 이동된 코발트가 Thermal Asperity 현상에 미치는 영향)

  • Corrosion of the disk has been an ongoing concern for the manufacturers of hard disk drives. With the advent of magnetoresistive (MR) head, very low levels of corrosion and contamination become more critical since the raised defects and corrosion products on the disk surface-anything that heats the MR sensor due to the contact-can distort the output signal of the head. This phenomenon is called as thermal asperity. In this paper, the effect of corrosion as a form of Co migration on the occurrence of thermal asperity in MR drives was investigated. The corrosion test at high temperature (60$^{\circ}C$) and high relative humidity (80%) was emphasized in this study and the testing results at ambient condition were compared. The corrosion on the disks was characterized as the amount of Co ion migration using an ion chromatography (IC) and a time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (TOF-SIMS). It is proved that corrosion on the disk surface after storage testing is closely correlated to the amount of Co ions migration from the magnetic layer to disk surfaces and higher Co migration causes more thermal asperities in the drive. In order to reduce Co migration, several methods such as burnishing process and structure of the carbon overcoat were investigated. It is found that the hydrogenated carbon overcoat shows the least Co migration among different types of overcoat layer. However, the most effective way to reduce Co migration is the application of Cr layer between the overcoat and the magnetic alloy layer.

  • Recently, as a electronic components are becoming more high-density, so that electronic circuits have smaller pitches between the leads and are more vulnerable to insulation failure. And the reliability of electric insulation has become an ever important issue as device contact pitches and print patterns shrink. Ion migration occurs in highly humid environment as voltage is applied to an installed print circuit. Under highly humid and voltage applied circumstances, electronic components respond to applied voltages by electrochemical ionization of metals, and a conducting filament forms between the anode and cathode across a nonmetallic medium. This leads to short-circuit failure of the electronic component. In thesis, we study acceleration test of ion migration in FR-4 PCB plated with Sn. Voltage applied test of FR-4 PCB circuits plated with Sn was tested in the temperature and humidity environments. As a result of this test, equation of acceleration model was derived.

  • Many researchers have been trying to evaluate the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in concrete by using qualitative and quantitative electro-migration tests. Up to now, however, there has been no sufficient method to closely determine the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion through electro-migration test. In this paper, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in concrete was investigated through an electro-migration test, that is, AASHTO T 277, Dhir's method, Tang's method and Andrade's method. And the results of these test were compared with each other.

Equifield line simulation and ion migration prediction for concrete under 2-D electric field

  • This study attempted to find a proper method applicable to simulating practical equifield lines of two-dimensional Accelerate Lithium Migration Technique (ALMT), and evaluate the feasibility of using the theoretical ion migration model of one-dimensional ALMT to predict the ion migration behavior of two-dimensional ALMT. The result showed that the electrolyte or carbon plate can be used as matrix to draw equifield line graph similar to that by using mortar as matrix. Using electrolyte electrode module for simulation has advantages of simple production, easy measurement, rapidness, and economy. The electrolyte module can be used to simulate the equifield line distribution diagram in practical two-dimensional electrode configuration firstly. Then, several equifield line zones were marked, and several subzones under one-dimensional ALMT were separated from various equifield line zones. The theoretical free content distribution of alkali in concrete under two-dimensional electric field effect could be obtained from duration analysis.

  • The MNDO calculations were performed in order to investigate the gas-phase reaction mechanism of 2-propene-1-al oxide, as a model compound of dypnone oxide(1,3-diphenyl-2-butene-1-one oxide) with the chloride ion. Optimized geometries and heats of formation for two probable concerted pathways, CHO and H migration, were determined and their activation energies were obtained. MO results show that although the formyl migration is thermodynamically more favorable than the hydride migration, the latter kinetically predominates over the formyl migration, which is contrary to the established migrating preferences. It is concluded that the hydride migratory propensity is catalyzed by the chloride ion by reducing the capability of the carbonyl ${\pi}$ bond to participate in the migration.

  • This paper investigated the chloride invasion resistance properties of concrete containing mineral admixtures(pozzolanic materials such as fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slage, silica fume and meta kaolin) for each replacement ratios under W/B ratios ranged from 40% to 55%. For the electrical migration test, Tang and Nilsson's method was used to estimate the migration coefficient of chloride ion. As a result, the migration coefficients of chloride ion of concrete containing mineral admixtures were shown reducing with the use of mineral admixtures, and the compressive strength was shown related to the migration coefficient. From the correlation between compressive strengths and migration coefficients, the kind and replacement ratio of mineral admixtures have a great effect on migration coefficients below 50㎫.

  • In evaluation of electronic reliability on the PCB(Print Circuit Borad),electrochemical migration is one of main test objects. The phenomenon of electrochemical migration occurs in the environment of the hight humidity and the hight temperature under bias through a continuous aqueous electrolyte. In this paper, the generating mechanism of electrochemical migration is investigated by using water drop acceleration test under various waters. The waters used in the water drop test are city water, distilled water and ionic water. It found that the generated velocity of electrochemical migration depended on electrolyte quantity which included in the various waters.

  • Paper electrophoresis of aluminium ion was studied using a closed horizontal type apparatus. The optimal conditions of voltage, pH of electrolytic supporting solution and migration time were determined for the electrophoretic migration of the ion on the paper strip saturated by Michaelis buffer solution. The mobility of the ion and the isoelectric point of $Al(NO_3)_3$ solution were $(1.004{\pm}0.0020){\times}10^{-4}\;cm^2\;sec^{-1}\;volt^{-1}$ at pH = 2.38 and pH = 3.23 respectively.
