The adsorption characteristics of methyl iodide generated from the simulated off-gas stream on various adsorbents such as silver ion-exchanged zeolite (AgX), zeocarbon and activated carbon were investigated. An extensive evaluation was made on the optimal silver ion-exchanged level for the effective removal of methyl iodide at temperature up to 38$0^{\circ}C$. The degree of adsorption efficiency of methyl iodide on silver ion-exchanged zeolite is strongly dependent of silver ion-amount and process temperature. The influence of temperature, methyl iodide concentration and silver ion-exchanged level on the adsorption efficiency is closely related to the pore characteristics of adsorbents. It would be facts that the effective silver ion-exchanged level was about 10 wt%, based on the degree of silver utilization for the removal of methyl iodide.

In the compacted bentonite containing $Ag_2O$, the transport of iodide ion was investigated by Through-diffusion method. It is confirmed that Iodide ion is transported by diffusion process in the compacted bentonite containing $Ag_2O$ as well as in the compacted bentonite without $Ag_2O$. However, the lag-time of iodide ion in the compacted bentonite containing $Ag_2O$ is larger than that in the compacted bentonite without $Ag_2O$. The increase of the lag-time was observed in pure iodide ion solution and also in 0.1M NaCl-iodide ion solution. The apparent diffusion coefficient of iodide ion in the compacted bentonite containing $Ag_2O$ has lower value than that in the compacted bentonite without $Ag_2O$. The effect of $Ag_2O$ on the effective diffusion coefficient was not clearly investigated in the compacted bentonite containing $Ag_2O$ while the values of effective diffusion coefficient of iodide ion in the compacted bentonite without $Ag_2O$ obtained in this study were similar to those in the compacted bentonite reported in the literature.
The paper deals with the application of radio isotopic non-destructive technique in the characterization of two industrial grade anion exchange resins Indion GS-300 and Indion-860. For the characterization of the two resins, $^{131}I$ and $^{82}Br$ were used as tracer isotopes to trace the kinetics of iodide and bromide ion-isotopic exchange reactions. It was observed that the values of specific reaction rate ($min^{-1}$), amount of iodide ion exchanged (mmol), initial rate of iodide ion exchange (mmol/min) and log $K_d$ were calculated as 0.328, 0.577, 0.189 and 19.7 respectively for Indion GS-300 resin, which was higher than the respective values of 0.180, 0.386, 0.070 and 17.0 calculated for Indion-860 resins when measured under identical experimental conditions. Also at a constant temperature of $40.0^{\circ}C$, as the concentration of labeled iodide ion solution increases 0.001 M to 0.004 M, the percentage of iodide ions exchanged increases from 75.16 % to 78.36 % for Indion GS-300 resins, which was higher than the increases from 49.65 % to 52.36 % compared to that obtained for Indion-860 resins. The overall results indicate that under identical experimental conditions, Indion GS-300 resins show superior performance over Indion-860 resins.

Titanium acetylacetonate was used in the construction of a PVC-based membrane electrode. This sensor shows very good selectivity for iodide ion over a wide variety of common inorganic and organic anions. It exhibits Nernstian behavior with a slope of 59.1 mV per decade. The working concentration ranges of the sensor are with a detection limit of $3.0\;{\times}\;10^{-6}\;M$. The response time of the sensor is very fast (<8 s), and can be used for at least twelve weeks in the pH range of 4.0-9.2. The best performance was obtained with a membrane composition of 30% PVC, 65% dibutylphthalate, 3% titanium acetylacetonate and 2% hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide. The proposed sensor was successfully applied as an indicator electrode for titration of iodide with silver ion.
The polymeric membrane electrodes based on urea derivative as an ionophore were prepared and studied for the iodide-ion selective electrode. This membrane exhibits a linear stable response over a wide concentration range ($1.0\;{\times}\;10^{-5}\sim1.0\;{\times}\;10^{-2}$) with a slope of -57.7 mV/decade, a detection limit of log[$I^-$] = -5.63, and a selectivity coefficient for iodide against perchlorate anion (log$K^{pot}_{I^-,j}$ = -1.42). The selectivity series of the membrane gives the follow as $I^-$ > $SCN^-$, $Sal^-$ > $ClO_4^-$ > $NO_3^-$ > $Br^-$ > $NO_2^-$ > $Cl^-$ > $F^-$. The proposed electrode showed good selectivity and response for iodide anion over a wide variety of other anions in pH 5.0 buffer solutions.
Ion chromatography was applied to determine iodide remained in sulfuric acid aqueous solution after adsorption procedure. Iodide was determined in 0.25 M, 0.5 M and 1 M sulfuric acid solution on time variation. Because sulfuric acid in solution plays as an oxidizer, the concentration of iodide decreased with increasing concentration or sulfuric acid. Thereafter, sulfuric acid was neutralized with sodium hydroxide. Good linearity(r=0.99999) was obtained at the range of 0-20 mg/L 1 in 0.5 M sodium sulfate matrix.

Silver deposits formed on copper substrates by replacement reactions show poor adhesion, and a silver film plated on such a deposit does not adhere. Silver ion makes a highly stable complex with cyanide ion, so that in a silver cyanide solution, the activity of silver ion is very small. This is one of the reasons for the universal use of cyanide baths in the industrial silver plating. However, the consideration of the difference between the values of the stability constants for bath the silver-iodide complex and the copper-iodide complex suggest that the rate of replacement deposition of silver on the copper substrate in si]ver-potassium iodide solution, could be comparatively low. To confirm this, the rate of replacement deposition of silver in both a silver-potassium iodide solution ($AgNO_3$0.10 mol/L, KI 2.00 mol/L ) and a strike silver plating bath (AgCN 0.028 mol/L, KCN 1.15 mol/L ) was estimated from the current density corresponding to the point of intersection of the anodic and the cathodic polarization curves. These estimated values were almost the same, and it is suggested that the silver-potassium iodide solution is not only a cyanide free silver plating bath capable of employing a copper substrate but a silver plating bath which requires no strike plating.

The iodide was recovered from a simulated spent fuel to the sodium bisulfite aqueous solution. It was discussed that the trace iodide (below 1 ppm) was determined without the matrix effect of 0.1 M sodium bisulfite and 1 mM $HNO_3$ in aqueous solution by ion chromatography with UV detection. AS4A-SC (DIONEX) column and UV-absorption spectrophotometer were used. The UV-absorption spectra of sodium bisulfite, nitric acid and iodide were obtained, and then 230 nm was selected as an absorption wavelength for iodide determination. 0.1 M NaCl eluent was optimum condition. In this condition the calibration curve of iodide was obtained on the range of about 0-1,000 ppb. The linear coefficient was 0.99993 and the detection limit was 5 ppb. The relative standard deviation was 1.26%.
A sensitive gas chromatographic method has been established for the determination of total iodide in seawater as their volatile organic derivative. The method is based on the formation of 4-iodo-2,6-dimethylphenol with 2,6-dimethylphenol in matrix and a single-step extraction of the derivative with ethyl ether, which are then measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (selected ion monitoring). Iodate in sea water was completely reduced to iodide with ascorbic acid and acetic acid. The detection limit was 0.1 ng/mL in seawater and the calibration curve showed good linearity with r=0.9997. The method was sensitive, reproducible and simple enough to permit the reliable routine analysis of total iodide in seawater. Total iodide in sea water was found about 30 ng/ml.

A new method for the analysis of metocurine iodide in biological fluids was developed. Metocurine iodide was quantitatively extracted with rose bengal from aqueous layer into dichloromethane layer and the amount of metocurine iodide was calculated from the amount of rose bengal which was determined by HPLC with fluorescence detector. It was possible to analyze metocurine iodide without the effect of co-prescribed drugs in the concentration range of $0.09{\sim}9.10\;{\mu}g/ml$. The detection limits of metocurine iodide in urine and blood were 0.8 and 1.2 ng at S/N=3, each respectively.
