  • Enterprises or public organizations have invested in development of their information systems and operated them repeatedly. Since these information systems projects have unique characteristics such as technology sensitiveness, network effectiveness, embeddedness, and externality, these investment projects have been not taken care of in the field of administration and evaluation. And then, it is difficult to manage and monitor them. In this research, we propose a evaluation life cycle management model on the basis of result to evaluate information systems. This life cycle model with ten stages would furnish a guide to introduction of total evaluation systems.

  • The purpose of this paper is to examine a reasonable share of cost in the apartment remodeling projects. Therefore, the case model of remodeling apartment was made up and then the rate of return by method of floor area change rate, method of proportion, method of investment earnings rate and method of proportion reflected business contribution were estimated. Consequently, the model by the method of proportion reflected business contribution presented 20.6% of rate in all apartment units.

  • BTL projects, which has been 3 years since it was carried out in 2008, trigged the controversy on the adequacy in the calculation of disbursement for Government due to such problems as low earning rate and the burden of service level compared with the project suggestion. Thus, the purpose of this study is to offer a suggestion on the calculation system for the purpose of the standardized - expense appropriation by item and database including the antecedent study on the finance model and the feasibility in BTL projects. The system is composed of 4 steps - project management, basic database, an analysis on expense by item and the result, and an analysis on sensitivity, and it is possible to carry out a comparative analysis on single and multi alternatives by variable change along with the ground on expense calculation.

  • In many urban cities, mixed-use development is becoming increasingly essential for the creation of an attractive and sustainable environment that promotes economic vitality, social equity and environmental quality. Due to the differences in scale, scope and intent, certain aspects within the project delivery process of mixed-use are not the same as "conventional" single-use projects. The objective of this paper is to highlight these aspects. Two cases in Southeast Asia serve to illustrate the uniqueness and challenges of mixed-use. In conclusion, the differences between mixed-use and single-use are evident in terms of the diversity of team members, the necessity of multiple market analyses, and a multi-layer (versus single-source) financing structure. Finally, issues concerning ownership tangles, land assembly, planning and application procedures, investment criteria of institutions have been identified as major pitfalls.

The Tall Frontier of Timber in Australia: Opportunities for Promotion Versus Industry Hurdles

  • The use of Engineered Wood Systems (EWS), especially mass-timber, as a structural alternative or complement to steel and concrete is gaining interest and acceptance across different sectors of architecture, engineering, and construction, including in high-rise buildings. Focussing on the Australian context, this study examines the levels of adoption and barriers to using timber as a primary structural material in multi-storey buildings. Data collected from semi-structured interviews with stakeholders at the forefront of adoption in structural design, construction, and property development indicates that timber in multi-storey projects in Australia still faces industry-wide challenges. Designers' awareness and attitudes towards timber adoption are generally positive and suitable for flagship projects, including tall buildings, but for enduring and widespread impact, long-term investment in education within and outside the range of stakeholders already committed to promoting timber adoption is needed.

  • Cost management always being the matters for project manager as well as other entities involved the construction projects. Vietnam is emerging country, many construction works were carried out and lot of construction projects will be developed in the near future with a huge investment capital come from outside and inside Vietnam. In recent years, international project management firms enter the Vietnam construction market, some issues emerged need to be solved. In which cost and schedule of the construction project was put in a thoroughly consider of not only project management team but also stakeholders. The research attempts to identify and assess the relationship of factors affecting the construction cost in construction phase in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Five main factor groups Owners/clients; Consultants; Contractors; Resource and Other were identified to propose the solution for cost management.

A Quantity Prediction Model for Reinforced Concrete and Bricks in Education Facilities Using Regression Analysis

  • Since the amendment of the law on the private sector investment in social infrastructure in January of 2005, the government has been actively promoting Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) projects. Notably, most new educational facilities have been built as BTL projects. For these facilities, the unit cost per unit area has been applied to predict construction costs. However, since construction costs are mostly managed after the detailed design phase, the costs can be estimated incorrectly. For this reason, cost management is needed in the planning phase, with a sound approximate estimate to prevent the wasteful use of funds. To address this shortcoming, this study aims to develop a quantity prediction model for education facilities using regression analysis in the planning phase. The developed model is focused on the required quantities of reinforced concrete and bricks. In order to achieve the objective, the data of 44 educational facility projects collected from Gyeonggi-do was used in the regression model. This study can be utilized by major stakeholders to accurately predict construction costs by estimating the appropriate quantities of reinforced concrete and bricks in the planning design phase.

고등학교 리모델링의 경향분석 및 방향설정에 관한 기초적 연구 -서울시 고등학교 사례를 중심으로- (Basic Study on the Trend Analysis and Direction of Remodeling of High Schools)

  • The study is intended to analyze the tendency of the remodeling for the high schools in Seoul, with the potential challenges thereof, determining the principle for the remodeling projects in the days to come. To that end, the analysis to identify the school facilities in a bid to accommodate the current curriculum was conducted, along with the case study on remodeling projects. The $7^{th}$ curriculum demands for a significant change in school facilities. The number of student in a class that has been on the decline, despite of steady increase in number of schools, and the population getting concentrated in Seoul and its suburbs have resulted in an increase in number of class. Consequently, more investment in the facility, rather than improving a substantial education environment, has been made. The study, thus, is aimed at identifying the facility of the high school required by the $7^{th}$ curriculum, as well as implementing a fact-finding investigation into the remodeling works far high schools in Seoul so as to come up with the guideline for remodeling projects.

연구 분야 및 지원기관에 따른 연구비 영향 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study of Factors Influencing the Costs of Funding as a Function of Research Area and Financial Institutions)

  • Purpose: In this paper, we analyzed the factors that affect research grants using linear regression analysis in order to increase the effectiveness of investments in national research projects. Methods: We collected 15,454 pieces of data on research projects that finished between 2008 and 2010. Data preprocessing and visualization were done to derive statistically significant results. We identified factors that affected funding by using linear regression, and estimated increasing or decreasing tendencies based on those factors. Results: We identified the relative importance of the factors in awarding research grants. Strategies were suggested for the reasonable estimation of R&D budgets for investment purposes. Conclusion: This study will assist the decision-making process of governments in estimating funds required for R&D projects.

주민주도적 마을만들기의 동태적 측면에 관한 연구 (A Study of Dynamic Characteristics in the Process of Community Building Projects in Korea)

  • Recently, Community Rebuilding Projects (hereinafter CRPs) in Korea have been driven and motivated by community inhabitants by themselves, and highlighted as an alternative approach to overcome the limitation revealed normally in top-down projects of community vitalization by the Government. The CRPs encourage community-lead development because it happens to integrate multiple stakeholders and to help inhabitants to participate in the process of the CRPs by accumulating and enlarging social capital and network among inhabitants, and the social gain consequently raises the efficiency of public investment in revitalizing communities. In this study, the series of Causal Loop Diagrams (CLDs) is to be elaborated and the System-Thinking (ST) approach is to be presented to understand the dynamic characteristics residing in the above development process of rebuilding communities. The ST approach refers to the CLDs analyzing 19 remarkable Korean CRP cases, and leads to a conclusion including some of policy instruments to support the bottom-up CRPs in Korea. This study contributes a theoretical framework to understand the dynamic relation between social capital and community revitalization as well as empirical suggestions to respond to the issues of the CRPs in Korean local governments.
