Drone has been widely used for many applications ranging from amateur and leisure to professionals to get fast and accurate 3-D information of the surface of the interest. Most of commercial softwares developed for this purpose are performing automatic matching based on SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) or SURF (Speeded-Up Robust Features) using nadir-looking stereo image sets. Since, there are some situations where not only nadir and nadir-looking matching, but also nadir and oblique-looking matching is needed, the existing software for the latter case could not get good results. In this study, a matching experiment was performed to utilize images with differences in geometry. Nadir and oblique-looking images were acquired through drone for a total of 2 times. SIFT, SURF, which are feature point-based, and IMAS (Image Matching by Affine Simulation) matching techniques based on affine transformation were applied. The experiment was classified according to the identity of the geometry, and the presence or absence of a building was considered. Images with the same geometry could be matched through three matching techniques. However, for image sets with different geometry, only the IMAS method was successful with and without building areas. It was found that when performing matching for use of images with different geometry, the affine transformation-based matching technique should be applied.
Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) is a very efficient method to explain the relationship between functions for finding basis information of multivariate nonnegative data. The multiplicative update (MU) algorithm is a popular approach to solve the NMF problem, but it fails to approach a stationary point and has inner iteration and zero divisor. So the elementwisely alternating projected gradient (eAPG) algorithm was proposed to overcome the defects. In this paper, we use the fact that the equilibrium point is stable to prove the convergence of the eAPG algorithm. By using a classic model, the equilibrium point is obtained and the invariant sets are constructed to guarantee the integrity of the stability. Finally, the convergence conditions of the eAPG algorithm are obtained, which can accelerate the convergence. In addition, the conditions, which satisfy that the non-zero equilibrium point exists and is stable, can cause that the algorithm converges to different values. Both of them are confirmed in the experiments. And we give the mathematical proof that the eAPG algorithm can reach the appointed precision at the least iterations compared to the MU algorithm. Thus, we theoretically illustrate the advantages of the eAPG algorithm.
Shape comparison between 3D models is essential for shape recognition, retrieval, classification, etc. In this paper, we propose a method for comparing 3D shapes, which is invariant under translation, rotation and scaling of models and is robust to non-uniformly distributed and incomplete data sets. first, a modal model is constructed from input data using vibration modes and then shape similarity is evaluated with modal strain energy. The proposed method provides global-to-local ordering of shape deformation using vibration modes ordered by frequency Thus, we evaluated similarity in terms of global properties of shape without being affected localised shape features using ordered shape representation and modal strain one energy.

In the computational molecular analysis, 3D structural comparison for protein searching plays a very important role. As protein databases have been grown rapidly in size, exhaustive search methods cannot provide satisfactory performance. Because exhaustive search methods try to handle the structure of protein by using sphere set which is converted from atoms set, the similarity calculation about two sphere sets is very expensive. Instead, the filter-and-refine paradigm offers an efficient alternative to database search without compromising the accuracy of the answers. In recent, a very fast algorithm based on the inter-atomic distance has been suggested by Ballester and Richard. Since they adopted the moments of distribution with inter-atomic distance between atoms which are rotational invariant, they can eliminate the structure alignment and orientation fix process and perform the searching faster than previous methods. In this paper, we propose a new 3D shape descriptor. It has properties of the general shape distribution and useful property in screening the molecular database. We show some experimental results for the validity of our method.

In this paper we proposed a new scheme for conditional two dimensional (2-D)moment-based classification of patterns on the basis of Gibbs random fields which are will suited for representing spatial continuity that is the characteristic of the most images. This implementation contains two parts: feature extraction and pattern classification. First of all, we extract feature vector which consists of conditional 2-D moments on the basis of estimated Gibbs parameter. Note that the extracted feature vectors are invariant under translation, rotation, size of patterns the corresponding template pattern. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, classification experiments with training document sets of characters have been carried out on 486 66Mhz PC. Experiments reveal that the proposed scheme has high classification rate over 94%.

We propose a new algorithm for pattern classification by extracting feature vectors based on Gibbs distributions which are well suited for representing the characteristic of an images. The extracted feature vectors are comprised of 2-D moments which are invariant under translation rotation, and scale of the image less sensitive to noise. This implementation contains two puts: feature extraction and pattern classification First of all, we extract feature vector which consists of an improved 2-D moments on the basis of estimated Gibbs distribution Next, in the classification phase the minimization of the discrimination cost function for a specific pattern determines the corresponding template pattern. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, classification experiments with training document sets of characters have been carried out on SUN ULTRA 10 Workstation Experiment results reveal that the proposed scheme had high classification rate over 98%.
Purpose: The influence of age on time preference is not identified in the usual cross-sectional analysis. This study aims to test whether age affects time preference after controlling for the effects of individual heterogeneity including cohort effects. Research design, data and methodology: Drawing on a nationally representative panel dataset of Indonesians, we estimate the effects of age on time preference after controlling for unobserved individual heterogeneity as well as potential cohort effects. We measure time preference exploiting information on two sets of multiple price lists: one for a one-year delay, and the other for a five-year delay. Results: When we controlled for time-invariant individual characteristics, including birth cohort effects in a fixed effects model, the older men and women were more patient in a linear fashion, particularly when the delay was longer. To highlight the importance of controlling for individual fixed effects, we repeated the specification without controlling for individual fixed effects in OLS or censored maximum likelihood regression; we found no relation between age and impatience in men or women and for a one or five-year delay. Conclusions: The older men and women are more patient, and time preferences are correlated with unobserved individual heterogeneity.

This paper describes an implementation of a graph-based simultaneous localization and mapping(SLAM) method called the General Graph Optimization. The General Graph Optimization formulates the SLAM problem using nodes and edges. The nodes represent the location and attitude of a robot in time sequence, and the edge between the nodes depict the constraint between the nodes. The constraints are imposed by sensor measurements. The General Graph Optimization solves the problem by optimizing the performance index determined by the constraints. The implementation is verified using the measurement data sets which are open for test of various SLAM methods.
Loblolly(Pinus taeda L.) and slash(Pinus elliottii Engelm.) pines are the most important timber producing species in the Southern United States. Site index equations to estimate site index curves(base age 25 years) for loblolly pine and slash pine plantations have been developed based on long-term repeated measurement data sets. To check magnitude of errors in estimating site index, each cumulative measurement cycle data sets and all combined data sets were used to recalculate site index values. The Chapman-Richards' growth function was selected for stand height prediction. Anamorphic base age invariant site index curves were presented based on this height prediction equation. Statistics used in the evaluation were mean of the differences and mean of the absolute differences. For plantation ages less than 5 years, site index values showed very sensitive fur both species based on the evaluation test.
In this paper, two reconstructed point cloud sets with the information of 3D features are analyzed. For a certain 3D reconstruction of the interior of a building, the first image set is taken from the sequential passive camera movement along the regular grid path and the second set is from the application of the laser scanning process. Matched key points over all images are obtained by the SIFT(Scale Invariant Feature Transformation) algorithm and are used for the registration of the point cloud data. The obtained results are point cloud number, average density of point cloud and the generating time for point cloud. Experimental results show the necessity of images from the additional sensors as well as the images from the camera for the more accurate 3D reconstruction of the interior of a building.
