  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the significance and the role of intuitive model and the example of its development. Intuitive model is the tools of intuition in mathematics and the sources for the creative learning mathematics. It consists of the analogical model, paradigmatic model and diagrammatic model. Intuitive model must have a number features in order to be really useful as heuristic devices. It must present a high degree of natural, consistent and structural correspondence with the original. It must also correspond to human information processing characteristics and enjoy a relative autonomy with respect to the original. Sometimes, the difficulty in teaming mathematics stems from the abstractive characteristics of mathematics. So, we have to assist students' learning using the intuitive model that reveals the concrete representation and various changes of mathematical concepts, rules and principles.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the traits on the cognitive and affective learning style of university students. CALSIU(The Cognitive & Affective Learning Style Inventory for University School Students) by Kim, E. J. was modified for applying to university students and performed with 399 university students from three universities in Daejeon and Chungnam. Statistical analysis done in this study were ANOVA and Scheffe's test. Findings of the study are as follows : First, the students with high academic achievements have intuitive perception type, whole processing type, and deep storage & recall type. Secondly, the students with low academic achievement have strong non-academic learning type. Third, interaction attitude of affective learning styles is the important element to determine their academic achievement. The students with independent type get high academic achievements. Therefore, instructor should consider the learning styles of students, and it should be used to improve their teaching & learning strategy for better academic achievements of university students.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the problems which are caused when the limit concept of sequences is learned through an intuitive definition and to suggest a way of solving those problems. Students in Korea study the limit concept of sequences through an intuitive definition. They fail to apply the intuitive definition properly to the problems and they are apt to have misconception even though the Intuitive definition is applied properly. To solve these problems, this study examined the develop- mental process of the limit concept of sequences from the Intuitive definition to the formal definition, and looked into the way of students' internalization of the process through a field study. In this study, the levels of the limit concept of sequences possessed by the students at ZPD are as follows; level 0 : Students understand the limit concept of sequences through the intuitive definition. level 1 : Students understand the limit concept of sequences as 'The difference between $\alpha$$_{n}$ and $\alpha$ approaches 0' rather than 'The sequence approaches $\alpha$ infinitely.' level 2 : Students understand the limit concept of sequences through the formal definition. The levels of students' limit concept development were analysed by those criteria. Almost of the students who studied the limit concept of sequences through the intuitive defition stayed at level 0, whereas almost of the students who studied through the formal definition stayed at level 1. Through the study, I found that it was difficult for the students to develop the higher level of understanding for themselves but the teachers and peers could help the students to progress to the higher level. Students' learning ability was one of major factors that make the students progress to the higher level of understanding as the concept was developed hierarchically from Level 0 to Level 2. If you want to see your students get to the higher level of understanding in the limit concept, you need to facilitate them to fully develop understanding in lower levels through enough experiences so that they can be promoted to the highest level.

  • As intuition is more unreliable than logic or reason, its studies in mathematics and mathematics education have not been done that much. But it has played an important role in the invention and development of mathematics with logic. So, it is necessary to recognize and explore the value of intuition in mathematics education. In this paper, I investigate the function and role of intuition in terms of mathematical learning and problem solving. Especially, I discuss the positive and negative aspects of intuition with its characters. The intuitive acceptance is decided by self-evidence and confidence. In relation to the intuitive acceptance, it is discussed about the pedagogical problems and the role of intuitive thinking in terms of creative problem solving perspectives. Intuition is recognized as an innate ability that all people have. So, we have to concentrate on the mathematics education via intuition and the complementary between intuition and logic. For further research, I suggest the studies for the mathematics education via intuition for students' mathematical development.

  • This paper proposes an expert system with the knowledge learning capability which can enhance the safety and effectiveness of substation operation in the automated substation as well as existing substation by inferring multiple events such as main transformer fault, busbar fault and main transformer work schedule under multiple inference mode and multiple objective mode and by considering totally the switch status and the main transformer operating constraints. Especially inference mode includes the local minimum tree search method and pattern recognition method to enhance the performance of real-time bus reconfiguration strategy. The inference engine of the expert system consists of intuitive inferencing part and logical inferencing part. The intuitive inferencing part offers the control strategy corresponding to the event which is most similar to the real event by searching based on a minimum distance classification method of pattern recognition methods. On the other hand, logical inferencing part makes real-time control strategy using real-time mode(best-first search method) when the intuitive inferencing is failed. Also, it builds up a knowledge base or appends a new knowledge to the knowledge base using pattern learning function. The expert system has main transformer fault, main transformer maintenance work and bus fault processing function. It is implemented as computer language, Visual C++ which has a dynamic programming function for implementing of inference engine and a MFC function for implementing of MMI. Finally, it's accuracy and effectiveness is proved by several event simulation works for a typical substation.

  • The year 2020 was a time when the coronavirus infections-19 (COVID-19) caused various changes in society. In particular, the fields that have been conducted face-to-face have been greatly confused by the transition to an online non-face-to-face method, and this is the case with the field of education. There are two main advantages of offline education. The first is that we can improve our understanding through communication with teachers, and the second is that we can develop social skills through interaction with friends. But as online classes progressed due to corona 19, interaction could not be achieved. As a result, the motivation for learning has been reduced due to difficulties in real-time feedback, and the participation rate has been significantly lowered, especially in lower grades, raising concerns about the learning gap that will occur after corona 19. However, there are some cases in which online classes were conducted as effectively as offline classes by utilizing various contents. What they have in common is the use of content. Teachers generally improved the quality of education by linking interesting sights and videos that enhance learning comprehension. The provided video conveys learning-related content into stories, enabling intuitive observation. Many students were already enjoying these videos through VOD (Video on Demand) such as TV and YouTube, they were able to connect their easy access to content and interest in learning. Appropriate use of video content has rather increased the learning effect and should continue after corona 19. Therefore, it is necessary to study methodologies that apply video content efficiently to education. This study looked at the steps that needed content application through the development of education programs, and observed its meaning. Students were curious about the content, motivated to learn and participated in learning on their own. Intuitive learning, conducted through appreciation, play and content production, provided an opportunity to learn on their own in everyday life.

  • The Index of Learning Styles (ILS) instrument based on the Felder-Silverman Learning Style Model was used to determine distribution of learning styles of 125 South Korean business students enrolled in a South Korean institution of higher education. Results show that greater proportion of South Korean business students surveyed in this study prefer sensing over intuitive, visual over verbal, reflective over active, and global over sequential learning styles. The majority of business students have a balanced learning style in all four dimensions of the Felder-Silverman model. Among the students that do not have a balanced learning style, students with sensing, visual, reflective, and global learning styles dominate. Gender difference in learning style preference was not statistically significant for any of the four dimensions.
