  • With approval from the Asia Pacific Metrology Program Working Group on Materials Metrology (APMP WGMM), an international comparison for sheet resistance standards for silicon wafers was firstly conducted among Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) in Korea, CMS/ITRI in Taiwan, and NIM in China, which are national metrology institutes (NMIs), from August 2011 to January 2012. The sheet resistance values of the standards are $10{\Omega}$, $100{\Omega}$, and $1000{\Omega}$; the measurement was conducted in sequence at KRISS, CMS/ITRI, NIM, and KRISS again using the four-point probe method with single and dual configuration techniques. The reference value for the measurement results of the three NMIs was obtained through averaging the values of the three results for each sheet resistance range. The differences between the reference value and the measured values is within 0.22% for $10{\Omega}$, 0.17% for $100{\Omega}$, and 0.12% for $1000{\Omega}$. Therefore, the international consistency for conducting sheet resistance measurements is confirmed within 0.22% through the APMP WGMM approved comparison.

  • According to the Bank Profitabilities Statistics of OECD members, Our domestic banks applying commissions for both exchange and selling/buying foreign currencies are evaluated as much higher than those of other countries banks. The theory indicates an analysis results and comparison in between banks over the world. Our domestic bank assert that, in general, the aggregated banking commission income is lower than those of other countries by comparing in the field of non-interests profits. Viewing by another analysis in details, some commission rate applying to domestic services are far below than cost basis, but other commission rate applying to foreign currency transaction services is abnormally higher. Such unfair rate should be lowered to the similar level to other banks in the world and also the actual cost should be reasonably reevaluated in the reasonable manner. One more thing, The writer suggest that domestic banks should spend efforts to increase their income by improving and diversifying with the various type of new commissions applied to domestic market, such as multi-functional financial services, expanding ATM services, electronic settling technique etc under today's rapidly changing and opening world financial market.

  • This study compares brand equity of the fast food industry between Korea and the Philippines. This comparison is conducted by measuring a price premium that the college students in both countries would pay for hamburgers. Three popular fast food chains in each country, Lotteria, McDonalds', and Burger King in Korea and Jollibee, McDonalds', and Burger King in the Philippines, were chosen for the study. Utilizing a brand-based comparative approach, the findings of the study indicated that Burger King showed the highest brand equity for the premium brand image in both countries, whereas both local brands had a lower brand equity compared to international brands. The results of the study provide useful information for international and local brand managers that wish to establish strategies for a brand image, as well as to manage brand equity effectively. • The atmosphere condition at Kimpo International Airport occasionally prevents the aircraft from landing and forces them to fly to an alternate airport, especially in October and November during a year. Many airlines designated foreign airports instead of Korean airports as alternate airports in the case of the bad weather condition preventing use of Kimpo Airport. This paper addresses 1) economic comparison of candidates for the alternate airport, 2) what are the criteria for the alternate airport selection and the relative importance among the criteria and 3) evaluation of candidates for alternate airport using Brown and Gibson's pair-wise comparison method. It is found to be possible to reduce costs related alternate flight by 36% using Korean airports rather than using Japan's Hukuoka Airport. However, airlines weigh more on the factors such as service level of ground handling, accommodation for passengers and ground access convenience than costs. Among Korean airports, Kimhae International Airport is found the most favorable airport as the alternate airport for Kimpo International Airport.

  • Purpose : This study aims to conduct a comprehensive comparison and analysis of intervention strategies utilized for school-aged children facing difficulties in writing, focusing on evaluating the effectiveness of various intervention approaches both domestically and internationally. The primary focus is on assessing the efficacy of each intervention approach and identifying gaps in the existing literature. Methods : Data for this study were gathered from the domestic database RISS from January 2013 to March 2020, and international databases Pubmed and Google Scholar were utilized. The keywords for domestic literature search included 'occupational therapy', 'handwriting', and 'school-aged', while for international literature search, the keywords were 'occupational therapy', 'handwriting', and 'children'. A total of 4 international and 2 domestic articles were selected for review based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results : The study findings present a thorough comparative analysis of intervention strategies, categorizing them into task-oriented intervention, sensory-motor intervention, and integrated intervention. All intervention methods demonstrated notable improvements in the legibility of handwriting. Comparison between domestic and international literature revealed a predominant use of task-oriented intervention in domestic studies, while international studies showcased a diverse range of intervention methods. Conclusion : Interventions were categorized into computer-based, task-oriented, sensory-motor, and integrated interventions. Task-oriented interventions were the most common in both domestic and international studies, while integrated interventions were the most effective. Based on these findings, it is necessary to increase awareness of the need for handwriting intervention research among occupational therapists in Korea. Additionally, there is a need for well-supported handwriting intervention research with larger sample sizes in both domestic and international occupational therapy. Finally, future research should actively investigate the application of tailored integrated interventions for school-aged children with handwriting difficulties.

  • Mediation, which is part of ADR, is a method used to settle disputes amicably by employing a third party who is in a neutral position. Utilization and attention on meditation are increasing in place of litigation and arbitration owing to its effectiveness in terms of time, cost, and effectiveness in achieving an amicable settlement. As to Korea, mediation at the civil level was employed by the KCAB in July 2012 but its utilization was in ABC stage compared to mediation at the governmental and judicial levels. Based on this situation, this study reviewed the guideline and system of the KCAB through a comparison of the management system between the KCAB and AAA where mediation was in good use. This study further suggests solutions as to the development of an international commercial mediation system First, the KCAB rule is needed to create a mediation language, mediation place, mediator internationalization, and so on. Second, a system backup is necessary to ensure the enforceability and effectiveness of mediation. Third, a unified mediation law in Korea is desirable for the harmonization of mediations at civil, governmental, and judicial levels. The unified mediation law, if it is made, may lead to an international base where this requirement exists. Fourth, advertising the merits of mediation to the public is necessary. Fifth, securing specialized mediators and relevant training are essential. If the above requirements are implemented, Korea would advance in international commercial disputes.
