  • Information storage devices using disks have a disk vibration at the frequency which is equivalent to the disk rotational speed. They also have a track vibration due to the disk eccentricity at the same frequency. In near field recording systems, the former affects the air-gap servo and the latter affects the tracking servo. In this paper, we introduce a novel control algorithm based on the internal model principle to both servos. A controller block designed by the principle is connected to the base lead-lag type compensator in parallel in order to cancel the repeatable run-out due to the disk vibration or eccentricity. Simulation and practical application of the algorithm on a near field recording system show good servo performance.

  • This paper deals with finite element analyses of residual stresses causing popping up which are induced in micromachining processes of a microaccelerometer sensors. The paddle of the micro accelerometer sensor is designed symmetric with respect to the direction of the beam. After heating the tunnel gap up to 100 degree and get it through the cooling process and the additional beam up to 80 degree and get it through the cooling process. We learn the thermal internal stresses of each shape and compare the results with each other, after heating the tunnel gap up to 400 degree during the Pt deposition process. Finally we find the optimal shape which is able to minimize the internal stresses of microaccelerometer sensor. We want to seek after the real cause of this pop up phenomenon and diminish this by change manufacturing processes of microaccelerometer sensor by electrostatic force.

Numerical Investigation of Purcell Enhancement of the Internal Quantum Efficiency of GaN-based Green LED Structures

  • GaN-based green light-emitting diode (LED) structures suffer from low internal quantum efficiency (IQE), known as the "green gap" problem. The IQE of LED structures is expected to be improved to some extent by exploiting the Purcell effect. In this study, the Purcell effect on the IQE of green LED structures is investigated numerically using a finite-difference time-domain simulation. The Purcell factor of flip-chip LED structures is found to be more than three times as high as that of epi-up LED structures, which is attributed to the high-reflectance mirror near the active region in the flip-chip LED structures. When the unmodified IQE is 20%, the relative enhancement of IQE can be greater than 50%, without utilizing the surface-plasmon coupling effect. Based on the simulation results, the "green gap" problem of GaN-based green LEDs is expected to be mitigated significantly by optimizing flip-chip LED structures to maximize the Purcell effect.

갭 입도 변화에 따른 사질토의 지지력 향상 효과 (Effect of Gap grade on Shear Strength of sandy soil)

  • 입도분포가 다양한 입자크기로 이루어져 있는 지반은 일반적으로 지반의 강도가 좋다. 입도분포가 다양하지 않음에도 충분한 지지력을 가지고 있는 지반이 더러 있는데, 이러한 지반의 특징은 Gap 입도로 분포되어 있다는 것이다. 이를 바탕으로 유추하여보면 입자의 크기가 다양하지 않더라도 적절한 입도의 배치를 통해 강한 지반이 조성될 수 있음을 알 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 임의로 조성한 Gap 입도시료와 well, uniform 입도시료와의 내부마찰각의 변화에 대하여 고찰하였다. 큰 입자와 작은 입자 크기의 비율에 따라서 시료를 조성한 후 직접전단시험을 수행하여 지반의 강도정수를 구하고 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 연구결과 시료의 입자크기비와 내부마찰각을 연관시킬 수 있었으며 입도의 분포가 Gap이라고 하더라도 주어진 조건에서 가장 큰 입자 크기비를 가지고 있는 시료가 다양한 입도분포의 시료보다 큰 마찰력을 가질 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 중간입자크기를 가지고 있는 시료로 조성한 uniform시료보다도 같은 입자 크기의 Gap 입도 시료가 더 큰 강도를 지니고 있었다. 비교적 간단한 입도의 조정만으로도 대상 지반의 강도를 추가적으로 증대시킬 수 있는 공법개발의 기초를 확립하였다.

A study on the performance and internal flow of inline Francis turbine

  • This paper presents the performance characteristic of a Francis hydro turbine with an inline casing. This turbine is designed for city water supply system. Due to large changes in ground elevation with high points and low points, some systems may experience larger-than-normal required pressures in areas with low ground elevations. One way to dissipate these excess pressures is by the use of an inline-turbine instead of an inline-pressure reducing valve. For best applicability and minimal space consumption, the turbine is designed with an inline casing instead of the common spiral casing. As a characteristic of inline casing, the flow accesses to the runner in the radial direction, showing a low efficiency. The installation of vanes improves the internal flow and gives the positive encouragement to the output power. For the power transmission to the outside of the turbine casing from the runner axis, a belt passage is designed in the inline casing, as its influence, the region after the belt passage shows a relatively low output power. The clearance gap in the runner side space is considered, in which a small volume of flow is contracted into the clearance gap, forming the leakage flow. The leakage flow leads to a decrease in the efficiency.

Effects of Oriental Medicinal Drugs on Axonal Regeneration in the Spinal Cord Neurons

  • An oriental medicinal drugs Jahageo (JHG, Hominis placenta) were examined to determine its effects on the responsiveness of central nervous system neurons after injury. We found that JHG was involved in neurite outgrowth of DRG sensory axons. JHG treatment also increased expression of axonal growth-associated protein GAP-43 in DRG sensory neurons after sciatic nerve injury and in the injured spinal cord. JHG treatment during the spinal cord injury increased induction levels of cell division cycle 2 (Cdc2) protein in DRG as well as in the spinal cord. Histochemical investigation showed that induced Cdc2 in the injured spinal cord was found in non-neuronal cells. These results suggest that JHG regulates activities of non-neuronal cells such as oligodendrocyte and astrocyte in responses to spinal cord injury and protects neuronal responsiveness after axonal damage.

내면 용접부재의 전자세 레이저-아크 하이브리드 용접 연구 (Position welding for internal welded specimen using laser-GMA hybrid welding)

  • Laser-arc hybrid welding has been considered as an effective pipe girth welding process since early 2000's. Tolerance for fit-up offsets such as gap and edge misalignment is one of most important requirements in pipe girth laser-arc hybrid welding, and several approaches using parameter optimization, a laser beam scanning and an arc oscillation have been tried. However the required offset tolerance has not been fully accomplished up to now and laser-arc hybrid welding has not been widely applied in pipeline construction than expected, despite of its high welding speed and deep penetration. In this study, internal welding was adopted to ensure the offset tolerance and sound back bead. The effect of welding parameters on bead shape was investigated at the flat position. Also tolerances for gap and edge misalignment were verified as 0.5 mm and 2.0 mm, respectively. The position welding trials were conducted at several welding positions from the flat to the overhead position in a downward direction. With the fixed welding speed, arc current for gas metal arc welding current and laser output power, adequate welding voltages for gas metal arc welding were suggested for each position.

Evaluation of the marginal and internal gaps of three different dental prostheses: comparison of the silicone replica technique and three-dimensional superimposition analysis

  • PURPOSE. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the marginal and internal gaps, and the potential clinical applications of three different methods of dental prostheses fabrication, and to compare the prostheses prepared using the silicone replica technique (SRT) and those prepared using the three-dimensional superimposition analysis (3DSA). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Five Pekkton, lithium disilicate, and zirconia crowns were each manufactured and tested using both the SRT and the two-dimensional section of the 3DSA. The data were analyzed with the nonparametric version of a two-way analysis of variance using rank-transformed values and the Tukey's post-hoc test (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. Significant differences were observed between the fabrication methods in the marginal gap (P < .010), deep chamfer (P < .001), axial wall (P < .001), and occlusal area (P < .001). A significant difference in the occlusal area was found between the two measurement methods (P < .030), whereas no significant differences were found in the marginal gap (P > .350), deep chamfer (P > .719), and axial wall (P > .150). As the 3DSA method is three-dimensional, it allows for the measurement of arbitrary points. CONCLUSION. All of the three fabrication methods are valid for measuring clinical objectives because they produced prostheses within the clinically acceptable range. Furthermore, a three-dimensional superimposition analysis verification method such as the silicone replica technique is also applicable in clinical settings.

환경개선용 기체전기방전을 이용한 오존발생기술 개발 (Development of Ozone Generation Technology Using Gaseous Electrical Discharge for Environment Improvement)

  • 본 논문에서는 방전관을 채용하여 전기적 기체방전의 중침을 이용한 새로운 방전형식의 환경개선용 오존발생 기술을 개발하였다. 방전관형 오존발생기(DLO)는 설치된 3개의 전극중 접지전극인 중심전극으로 방전관을 사용 하였으며, 나머지 2개의 메쉬형 내부전극과 나선형 외부전극에 180[$^{\circ}$]의 위상차를 가진 2개의 교류고전압 전원을 인가함으로써 방전관과 내부전극, 방전관과 외부전극사이의 방전공간에서 각각 발생되는 무성방전의 중침에 의하여 오존이 발생되는 구조이다. 이때, 원료가스의 유량, 방전전력 및 DLO의 사용 개수 변화에 따른 방전특성과 오존생성특성을 연구검토하였으며, DLO로부터 생성된 오존을 대기오염물질인 NO 가스에 접촉시켰을 때 NO 제거특성이 우수하여 방전관형 오존발생기가 대기환경개선 설비로 적용가능함을 확인하였다.
