  • Aerodynamic characteristics depending on the shape of an internal motor in a small-size sirocco fan for residential ventilation have been investigated For the aerodynamic analyses of the sirocco fan, three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with the shear stress transport model for turbulence closure. The flaw analyses are performed on hexahedral grids using a finite-volume solver. The validation of the numerical results at steady-state is performed by comparing with experimental data for the pressure and efficiency. In order to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics depending on shape of an internal motor in a sirocco fan, the reference shape is analyzed compared to the case without internal motor. Additionally, two shape parameters, height and width of the internal motor in a sirocco fan, are tested to investigate their effects on the aerodynamic characteristics. The results show that the shape of the internal motor in a sirocco fan is an important factor to improve the aerodynamic performances.

  • Various Sialon ceramics were fabricated by hot-pressing mixtures of $Si_3N_4$ with additive $Y_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$. The polished specimen of SiAlON $I{\sim}III$ went on increasing in strength by heat treatment, heat treated non-polished specimen were similar or up to polished specimen in strength. The polished specimen of both SiAlON IV and V showed a very high strength, but were not Increasing of strength by heat treatment. All specimens were fractured on the surface and at the inner flaws. Surface fractures were initiated from the polished surface flaw and corner flaw. Inner fractures were initiated from an internal defect.

  • Conventional measurement methods using ultrasonic wave or x-ray, eddy current for non-destructive testing(NDT) in nuclear power plants and other industrial plants have been utilized as the method of contact with objects to be inspected. For this reason these methods require relatively much time and inspection area is limited by the location of probe or film. But holograpic interferometry which is a non-contact optical measurement method using a coherent light source has an advantage that quantative measurement can be performed at a time. In this paper a new method using realtime holographic interfreometry and image processing for detecting internal flaws of pressure vessels is presented.

  • 복합재 헬리콥터 로터 블레이드는 두께방향으로의 강도가 부족한 구조적인 특성으로 인해 외부 물체의 충돌에 의해 내부 구조물에 손상이 발생하기 쉬운 단점을 지니고 있다. 따라서 복합재 블레이드의 피로 평가 시 외부 물체의 충돌에 의해 발생하는 결함과 강도저하 현상을 함께 고려해야 한다. 이를 위해 내결함 안전 수명(flaw tolerant safe-life) 및 파손안전(fail-safe) 개념을 이용한 피로평가 방안이 1980년대부터 적용되었으며, 최근에는 회전익 항공기의 감항기준에 위의 두 개념이 손상허용(damage tolerance) 평가 방안으로 대체되었다. 본 논문에서는 회전익 항공기에 사용되는 섬유강화 복합재 로터 블레이드를 중심으로 피로수명을 평가하기 위한 관련규정을 분석하고, 국내 헬기 개발사업 등을 통해 적용된 사례들을 검토함으로써 충격손상을 고려한 섬유강화 복합재 로터 블레이드의 피로 평가 방안을 제시하였다.

  • 와전류를 이용한 비파괴검사장비가 자동차 변속기 부품의 결함유무를 판단하기 위해 개발되었다. 본 탐상기에서는 부품에서 발생하는 결함을 패턴별로 검사하기 위한 결함 마스터 샘플을 만들고, 결함의 형태별로 탐상 가능한 와전류 탐상기를 제작하여 시험을 하였다. 또한 실제 결함이 있는 불량품을 대상으로 결함발생 원인 및 결함발생 형태를 조사하며, 탐상시험을 통해 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 와전류 탐상기는 비전문가도 모니터에 나타난 탐상기 결과로부터 부품의 결함여부를 쉽게 판단할 수 있도록 시스템 소프트웨어를 개발하였다.

Static and Dynamic Instability Characteristics of Thin Plate like Beam with Internal Flaw Subjected to In-plane Harmonic Load

  • This paper deals with the study of buckling, vibration, and parametric instability characteristics in a damaged cross-ply and angle-ply laminated plate like beam under in-plane harmonic loading, using the finite element approach. Damage is modelled using an anisotropic damage formulation, based on the concept of reduction in stiffness. The effect of damage on free vibration and buckling characteristics of a thin plate like beam has been studied. It has been observed that damage shows a strong orthogonality and in general deteriorates the static and dynamic characteristics. For the harmonic type of loading, analysis was carried out on a thin plate like beam by solving the governing differential equation which is of Mathieu-Hill type, using the method of multiple scales (MMS). The effects of damage and its location on dynamic stability characteristics have been presented. The results indicate that, compared to the undamaged plate like beam, heavily damaged beams show steeper deviations in simple and combination resonance characteristics.

  • The sub-zero cold is a major environmental consideration for the operational readiness of FCEVs because fuel cells produce water and utilize wet air with varying water content to generate electricity. Typical fuel cells thus have a fatal flaw in freezing conditions at startup. This drawback becomes more serious with the outsourced fuel cell that is entirely water-based for its internal humidification. In this background, the HMC's self-designed fuel cell was developed as an alternative and was employed in the Tucson-based FCEV in 2006 demonstrating its good cold-startup characteristics. The cold-startup capacity of the vehicle was validated through tests in the cold chamber and on the road, resulting in 50% stack power achieved in 250 seconds at $-15^{\circ}C$.

  • Transition-Sensitive Flip-Flops(TSFF)에 의하여 원시흐름표로 부터 다입력변화 비동기순서논리회로를 합성하는 하나의 방법을 제안하였다. 목 방법에 의해시 실현한 회로는 Chuang의 그것보다 속도가 빠르다. Chuang의 출력상태를 실현하는 방법은 오진를 범하고 있음을 지적하고 원시흐름표로 부터 출력상태를 제어 여거법에 의해서 간편하게 실현할 수 있음을 보였다.

차분격자볼츠만법에 의한 유동소음의 수치계산 (Numerical Simulation of Aerodynamic Sound by the Finite Difference Lattice Boltzmann Method)

  • In this research, a numerical simulation for the acoustic sounds around a two-dimensional circular cylinder in a uniform flaw was developed, using the finite difference lattice Boltzmann model. We examine the boundary condition, which is determined by the distribution function concerning density, velocity, and internal energy at the boundary node. Pressure variation, due to the emission of the acoustic waves, is very small, but we can detect this periodic variation in the region far from the cylinder. Daple-like emission of acoustic waves is seen, and these waves travel with the speed of sound, and are synchronized with the frequency of the lift on the cylinder, due to the Karman vortex street. It is also apparent that the size of the sound pressure is proportional to the central distance to the circular cylinder. The lattice BGK model for compressible fluids is shown to be a powerful tool for the simulation of gas flaws.

  • The aluminum die-casting technique has been widely used to manufacture a rotor in motor industry because of its highly productivity, even though it sometime causes the various type of defects in the rotor, such as shrinkage, cavity, blow holes etc. which results in the decrease of the efficiency of system. Therefore the development of reliable technique to detect the flaws in the rotor is strongly needed not only to control quality assurance but to improve its efficiency. In this study, the wide variety of ultrasonic techniques have been applied to detect the flaws in the rotor and then to discuss the detectibility of the flaw and the applicability for NDE tool in the aluminum die-casting rotor.
