  • The use of environmentally friendly finishing materials allows us to create a space where we can feel nature and to have stability and peace in the city center. In this paper, we examined the sensitivity of people to the three café spaces where wooden finishing materials are used in the space elements that change according to people's demands for environmentally friendly space due to pollution of living environment. First, we examined the wood and finishing materials and emotional vocabulary through literature review and previous research. Second, the values of L *, a *, b* and sR, sG and sB values were extracted by using a line spectrophotometer (Ci6X). Third, we conducted a 7 - point scale questionnaire based on the extracted 13 pairs of emotional vocabulary. Using SPSS 21, frequency analysis by descriptive statistics, crossover analysis by visiting purpose and intention, and emotional lexical factor analysis were performed. Through the study, the following points were found. First, CB (The Coffee Bean), SB (Starbucks) and HS (Hollys Coffee) showed differences in CB (65%), SB (40%) and HS (37%) in the spatial analysis. Second, CB gave color similar to the color of wall and furniture wood, but HS changed the color or brightness of wood finishing color of furniture. HS or SB showed favorable use of wood color scheme. Third, SB (26.3%) and HS (19.7%) were selected by taste. Fourth, there were differences in the items of CB, 'local-exotic' and SB 'dark-bright' in the factor value. The use of wood finishing materials differed in the atmosphere evaluation depending on the spatial factors and the color of the furniture. However, in this study, there are many factors that are insufficient in the accuracy of the ratio of the applied wood finishing material to the space element and the amount of the survey. If we further study the evaluation of emotional image according to the ratio of wood finishing materials, we think that it is necessary to study now that interest in environmentally friendly is increasing.

Data were collected from 167 consumers visiting luxurious apartment model houses from Jan. 2000 to Nov. 2000. The findings of this study are as follows. 1) It is revealed that consumers are positive for luxurious apartments because of luxurious interior facilities and finishing materials convenient storage space and closet. It is found that they are willing to purchase the luxurious apartment if affordable. 2) It is revealed that consumers are negative in using imported materials in general. However, consumers are positive in using imported materials for kitchen and bathroom utilities because of better design and function. Also it is found that consumers are willing to purchase domestic materials if price and quality are same as imported one. 3) It is revealed that consumers prefer to have most spacious living room and master bed room which are facing South. They prefer to have built-in furniture in multi-in purpose room, children's bedroom and entrance hall in priority order. It is revealed that consumer want to choose their favorable interior plan and finishing materials among several options recommended by constructor.

  • Community facilities in apartment complex have been developed through residents' needs for housing environmental amenities and social trend for 'Well-being' combined with marketing competition among construction companies. But community facilities and fitness centers which are in the initial stage of development are not well fit with residents' needs because the designers plan the community facilities without considering on residents' life-style and preference. This study investigates the present status of fitness center, and surveys the residents' preference for the proposed fitness center design. The result includes that fitness center users in apartment complex want a convenient and comfortable resting spaces similar level with those in fitness center of mixed-use residential building. A resting space provides opportunity that community members meet each other as well as they can rest after exercise. The result also shows that the fitness center users prefer wood floor and wall as interior finishing materials in exercising space and resting space, which users think, gives more comfortable and splendid feeling.

  • After an important construction work in Chosun dynasty, the appropriate government made out the building specification as it called 營建儀軌. They are recorded about variety matters as the appointed days, various official documents, managers and craftsmen, etc.. Sometimes we can see the attached pictures about some building or furniture. specifications in Chosun dynasty about the unit of materials and history of each terms. The results are as followings: (1) The interior materials are classified to several units such as Gai(箇;the unit of square lumber or log), Rip(立;the unit of plates), Boo(部;the unit of assembled materials), etc.. (2) The terms are defined and enlightened how to use and how to change. Particularly, the terms are different positively in constituent units of wooden floor. So, it is expected to continuant study.

  • Recently, gypsum boards are widely used as interior finishing boards for constructions because of their features of absorbing heats and little temperature rising at the early stage of fire. Therefore, in this research, basic data were suggested to secure fireproof stability by investigating interior processing features, which change together with the backside temperature of test materials from Flash Over (within 30 minutes after firing), at which temperature reaches its highest point, to survey the features of materials due to rising temperature in the chase of gypsum boards (general and fireproof gypsum boards)

  • In this study, natural substance and mineral materials was used for architectural interior wallpaper. Because natural substance and minerals are environment-friendly material with moisture adsorption and desorption properties. Natural substance and mineral materials was evaluated in moisture adsorption and desorption properties. Also, in the diatomite, the pores were observed on SEM photographs. Thus, it is supposed that moisture adsorption and desorption properties were influenced by the microstructure of the pore. The wallpaper according to the ratio of the mixture was analyzed for physical properties and moisture adsorption & desorption properties. As a result, we developed a wallpaper having excellent hygrothermal performance.

  • In modern societies, people spend most of their time indoors and the temperature and humidity controlled by electrical appliances have a considerable effect on their emotions and health. However, improper operation of the artificial facilities frequently creates substances that are harmful to our body. The importance of controlling the natural humidity of interior materials has therefore attracted significant attention. This study was aimed at quantifying the hygroscopic property of some interior finishing wooden materials. Dried and heat-treated yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera) lumbers, oriented strand board, and plywood were selected for this experiment. The moisture adsorption and desorption rates of wooden materials were measured (ISO 24353). Furthermore, the effects of morphological, physical and chemical factors, such as surface microstructure, roughness, and functional groups, on the hygroscopicity were evaluated. The results of this study should contribute to improved accuracy of hygroscopic-property assessments performed on wooden interior materials.

  • This study derives the characteristics of physical environmental designs and formats which can serve as guidelines in spatial design for the social regeneration of residential areas. For this purpose, this study redefined factors of social regeneration in living areas and their design strategies through a theoretical review. This study also selected practical examples and investigated the characteristics of environmental design in terms of shapes, finishing, and devices used stated in the strategies for social regeneration in the given examples through field investigation. As a result, designs for communities should Maximize characteristics of daily use and formated types reused as well as use complicated and small facilities. Second, access types should make it easy to induce artificial movement, themes using finishing materials should be given, and perception media should be used to encourage physical activity. Third, psychological stability can be achieved by improving the colors used in the finishing materials, and should ensuring safe environmental facilities by design. Finally, for metaphoric contact to the properties of nature, using themes of nature in the finishing materials and in diverse devices.
