  • This study proposes a new interactive multicriteria method for determining the best levels of the decision variables needed to optimize a stochastic computer simulation with multiple response variables. The method, called the Pairwise Comparison Stochastic Cutting Plane (PCSCP) method, combines good features from interactive multiple objective mathematical programming methods and response surface methodology. The major characteristics of the PCSCP algorithm are: (1) it interacts progressively with the decision maker (DM) to obtain his preferences, (2) it uses good experimental design to adequately explore the decision space while reducing the burden on the DM, and (3) it uses the preference information provided by the DM and the sampling error in the responses to reduce the decision space. This paper presents the basic concepts of the PCSCP method along with its performance for solving randomly selected test problems.

  • Developing an interactive satellite multimedia system, such as a digital video broadcasting (DVB) return channel via satellite (RCS) system, is gaining popularity over the world To accommodate the increasing traffic demand we are motivated to investigate an alternative for improving return channel utilization We develop an efficient method for optimal packet scheduling in an interactive satellite multimedia system using hybrid CDMA/TDMA channels. We formulate the timeslot-code assignment problem as a binary integer programming (BIP) problem, where the throughput maximization is the objective, and decompose this BIP problem into two sub-problems for the purpose of solution efficiency. With this decomposition, we promote the computational efficiency in finding the optimal solution of the original BIP problem Since 2001, ETRI has been involved in a development project where we have successfully completed an initial system integration test on broadband mobile Internet access via Ku-band channels using the proposed resource allocation algorithm.

  • Automatic segmentation of brain MRI data usually leaves some segmentation errors behind that are to be subsequently removed interactively, using computer graphics tools. This interactive removal is normally performed by operating on individual 2D slices. It is very tedious and still leaves some segmentation errors which are not visible on the slices. We have proposed to perform a novel 3D interactive correction of brain segmentation errors introduced by the fully automatic segmentation algorithms. We have developed the tool which is based on 3D semi-automatic propagation algorithm. The paper describes the implementation principles of the proposed tool and illustrates its application.

  • This research suggests an interactive methodology fur multiple objective linear programming problems to help the group select a compromising solution in the World Wide Web environment. Our methodology lessens the burden of group decision makers, which is one of necessary conditions of the web environment. Only the partial weak order of variables and objectives from the group decision makers are enough for searching the best compromising solution. For such a purpose, we expand the Dror and Gass algorithm to the group decision context. And we suggest the system architecture of a web-based GDSS fur the implementation of our methodology.

  • This paper presents the algorithm for finding the compensatory solution for fuzzy multiobjective nonlinear programming problem using $\gamma$-operator. The proposed algorithm can be applied to all cases with multiobjective problems since the interactive process with a decision maker is simple, various uncertainties involved on decision making are eliminated and all the objectives are well balanced. On the basis of proposed algorithm, an illustrative numerical example is presented.

  • Fuzzy approaches used to solve MONLP(Multiobjective Nonlinear Programming Problem) are based on the max-min method of fuzzy sets theory However, since the min operator noncompensatory, these approaches can not guarentee an efficient solution to the problem. In this paper, we presents an algorithm for finding the aggregation operator to find efficient solution. In particular, our presented algorithm is guarentee an efficient solution. On the basis of proposed algorithm, an illustrative numerical example is presented.

  • Recently, the interest on power quality has been hot issue because the equipments cause voltage disturbance and have become more sensitive to the voltage disturbance. Additionally, the reseach on power electronic equipments applying to the high power has been increased. This paper deals with Line-Interactive Dynamic Voltage Restorer(LIDVR) system using 7-Level H-Bridge inverter, which is one of the solutions to compensate the voltage disturbance and to increase the power of equipments. The LIDVR has the following advantages comparing to the DVR with the series injection transformer. It has the power factor near to unity under the condition of normal source voltage, can compensate the harmonic current of the load and the instant interruption, and has the fast response. First, the construction, the operation mode and algebraic modeling of LIDVR are reviewed. And then the voltage control algorithm is proposed to get the sinusoidal load voltage with constant amplitude. Finally, simulation and experiment results verify the proposed LIDVR system.

  • In this paper, 3D model-based interactive gamma ray shielding package (MIGSHIELD) is developed in virtual reality platform for windows operating system. In MIGSHIELD, the computational methodology is based on point kernel algorithm (PK), several key parameters of PK are obtained using new technique and new methods. MIGSHIELD has interactive capability with virtual world. The main features made in the MIGSHIELD are (i) handling of physical information from virtual world, (ii) handling of arbitrary shapes radioactive source, (iii) calculating the mean free path of gamma ray, (iv) providing interactive function between PK and virtual world, (v) making better use of PK for virtual simulation, (vi) plug and play. The developed package will be of immense use for calculations involving radiation dose assessment in nuclear safety and contributing to fast radiation simulation for virtual nuclear facilities.

  • we model communication and computer systems that process interactive and several and several types of background jobs. The scheduling policy in use is to share the processor among all interactive jobs and, at most, one background job of each type at a time according to the process sharing discipline. Background jobs of each type are served on a first-come-first-served basis. Such scheduling policy is called Processor Sharing with Background jobs (PSBJ). In fact, the PSBJ policy is commonly used on many communication and computer systems that allow interactive usage of the systems and process certain jobs in a background mode. In this paper, the stability conditions for the PSBJ policy are given and proved. Since an exact analysis of the policy seems to be very difficult, an approximate analytic model is proposed to obtain the average job sojourn times. The model requires the solution of a set of nonlinear equations, for which an iterative algorithm is given and its convergence is proved. Our results reveal that the model provides excellent estimates of average sojourn times for both interactive and background jobs with a few percent of errors in most of the cases considered.
