  • Today's enterprises take processes beyond their own organizational boundaries in order to electronically trade goods and services with partners under the concept of B2B e-commerce. In this environment, inter-organizational business processes are required and should be well defined not only in public processes between partners but in private processes within individual partners. For this purpose, we propose the method to represent inter-organizational business processes. First of all, a feasible modeling method for the inter-organizational workflow for B2B e-commerce is developed. This method is proposed based on BPSS in ebXML so that the binary and multiparty collaborations share a common process. In this method, message flows and control flows are separated in order to facilitate the design procedure of the inter-organizational workflow process. Second, a well-structured process modeling algorithm to design a well-structured inter-organizational workflow process is proposed. In the algorithm, a process is transformed to a Petri-net-based process model. This algorithm employs well-behaved modeling blocks, well-behaved control structures, and business transactions to develop well-structured process models by a top-down design.

  • IPTV broadcast channels and video content distribution are increasingly saturating network paths. New solutions based on inter-domain multicast protocols could contribute to the enhancement of multimedia content distribution over the Internet. The aim of this paper is to propose new capabilities for an existing inter-domain multicast protocol, the Protocol Independent Multicast-Sparse Mode. We describe the modified protocol and analyze its behavior using newly developed tools based on an open-source software simulator. The resulting protocol does not require topology information, which is advantageous for easier deployment. In addition, the adopted solution avoids inherent problems with inter-domain multicast routing, such as multiple paths and path asymmetries.

  • As a preliminary study on the sediment flux, concentrations of suspended particulate matter and current speeds were measured at three inlets of Gwangyang Bay during one tidal cycle of a spring tide of March 2003. The suspended sediment flux rate $(g/m^{2}/s)$ at the mouth of Seomjin River (St. K1) was observed to be higher throughout surface layer during ebb tide $(14.3\;g/m^{2}/s)$ and throughout near-bottom layer during the flood tide $(23.2\;g/m^{2}/s),$ resulting in a net upstream-ward transport of$0.9{\times}10^{3}kg/m$ during 13 period. At the inlet toward Yeosu Bay (St. K2), a relatively low rate ($(5.0-6.7\;g/m^{2}/s)$ of sediment flux occurred throughout the water column compared to St. K1, with a depth-integrated net transport of $5.6{\times}10^{3}kg/m$ toward the outer reaches of Gwangyang Bay inlet. At St. K3 located at Gwangyang Bay-side of Noryang Strait, the outward flux toward the Jinju Bay was observed to be dominant during the flood tide $(16.2-23.2\;g/m^{2}/s)$, especially through the mid and near bottom layer, compared to the inward flux throughout the whole water column during the ebb tide $(13.1-19.7\;g/m^{2}/s).$ The net transport at St. K3 was calculated to be $4.0{\times}10^{3}kg/m$ toward the outside of Gwangyang Bay. The outward net transport of suspended sediment at all three inlets seems to be consistent with a trend of bottom sediment texture, which suggests a net movement of sediment from a relatively coarse and poorly sorted inner-bay toward a relatively fine and better sorted outer-bay environment.

  • In this paper, we studied an efficient inter-working method in which QualNet network simulator can import WAVE channel model and physical layer simulation module pre-designed by Matlab tool. At first, we investigated physical layer and communication medium simply designed in QualNet, then we suggested practical method for QualNet network simulator to adopt different type of physical layer simulation module in which detailed multi-path fading channel model and IEEE802.11p communication modem are designed. This work should be applied to linked simulation between upper layer and lower physical layer for total simulation from higher layer to lower physical layer related to next generation DSRC/WAVE specification.

  • For the early identification and treatment of colorectal cancer, accurate polyp segmentation is crucial. However, polyp segmentation is a challenging task, and the majority of current approaches struggle with two issues. First, the position, size, and shape of each individual polyp varies greatly (intra-class inconsistency). Second, there is a significant degree of similarity between polyps and their surroundings under certain circumstances, such as motion blur and light reflection (inter-class indistinction). U-net, which is composed of convolutional neural networks as encoder and decoder, is considered as a standard for tackling this task. We propose an updated U-net architecture replacing the encoder part with vision transformer network for polyp segmentation. The proposed architecture performed better than the standard U-net architecture for the task of polyp segmentation.

  • 3GPP LTE-Advanced (Third Generation Partnership Project Long Term Evolution-Advanced) as a next generation mobile communication standard introduced small base stations such as femto cells or pico cells, and D2D (Device-to-Device) communications between mobiles in the proximity in order to satisfy the needs of rapidly growing wireless data traffic. A diverse range of topics has been studied to solve various interference situations which may occur within a single cell. In particular, an introduction of a small base station along with D2D communication raises important issues of how to increase the channel capacity and frequency efficiency in HetNets (Heterogeneous Networks). To this end, we propose in this paper methods to manage the interference between the macro cell and other small cells in the HetNet to improve the frequency efficiency. The proposed CCN (Cluster Coordinator Node)-assisted ICI (Inter-Cell Interference) avoidance methods exploit the CCN to control the interference in HetNet comprising of an MeNB (Macro enhanced Node-B) and a large number of small cells. A CCN which is located at the center of a number of small cells serves to avoid the interference between macro cell and small cells. We propose methods of resource allocation to avoid ICI for user equipments within the CCN coverage, and evaluate their performance through system-level computer simulations.

  • Performance shaping factors (PSFs) in a human reliability analysis (HRA) are one that may influence human performance in a task. Most currently applicable HRA methods for nuclear power plants (NPPs) use PSFs to highlight human error contributors and to adjust basic human error probabilities (HEPs) that assume nominal conditions of NPPs. Thus far, the effects of PSFs have been treated independently. However, many studies in the fields of psychology and human factors revealed that there may be relationships between PSFs. Therefore, the inter-relationships between PSFs need to be studied to better reflect their effects on operator errors. This study investigates these inter-relationships using two data sources and also suggests a context-based approach to treat the inter-relationships between PSFs. Correlation and factor analyses are performed to investigate the relationship between PSFs. The data sources are event reports of unexpected reactor trips in Korea and an experiment conducted in a simulator featuring a digital control room. Thereafter, context-based approaches based on the result of factor analysis are suggested and the feasibility of the grouped PSFs being treated as a new factor to estimate HEPs is examined using the experimental data.

  • This paper presents an Interprocessor Communication Network(IPC net) in ATM switching system. In order to supply stable and independent path for processor communication, additional network i.e., Ethernet, is suggested. An Ethernet switch centered on Ethernet binds each processor into a work range. IPC net proposed in this paper assures end-to-end inter-processor connection, uniform 100Mbps Ethernet bandwidth and enhanced user cell throughput of ATM switch with minimum Ethernet supporting block integrated into ATM system

  • In B2B e-commerce environments, many initiatives for process modeling have made efforts to design business processes correctly. Especially, Petri nets have been widely used as a good theory to design and verify process models. Therefore, we propose the process modeling method for the B2B e-commerce based on Petri nets. First of all, a B2B process model based on BPSS is represented by the UML activity diagram. Second, the activity diagram is transformed to a Petri net model. For the transformation, well-behaved building blocks/control structures and the modeling rules for inter-organizational workflow processes are proposed. Third, the process is partitioned into sharable processes for individual business partners. Finally, according to needs of individual business partners, the sharable processes are modified by well-structured refinement rules. The whole procedure is explained with the purchase process of an e-bookstore.

  • Heterogeneous network (HetNet) is a network consisting of macrocells overlaid with small cells. In HetNet, the interference from macrocell to small cell users is a major cause of performance degradation of small cell users and enhanced inter-cell interference coordination (eICIC) is needed to mitigate the interference. Previous works on eICIC gives limited performance gain because these works focus on maximizing long-term throughput and rarely consider varying channel conditions over frames. This paper proposes a new algorithm which dynamically coordinates interference and schedules users on each frame to maximize the total utility of the network with lower computational complexity than exhaustive search. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves higher total throughput than the throughput with the conventional algorithm, and has higher fairness index than the conventional algorithm when there large number of users.
