  • Holographic Data Storage System (HDSS), one of the next generation data storage devices, is a 2-dimensional page oriented memory system using volume hologram. HDSS has many noise sources such as crosstalk, scattering and inter pixel interference, etc. The noise source is changing intensity of the light used for carrying the data signal in HDSS. The inter pixel interference results in decrease of Signal to Noise Ratio and increase of Bit Error Rate. In order to improve these problems, this paper proposes to compensate the inter pixel interference with simple interference mask.

  • In the holographic data storage system, the data can be stored more than one bit per pixel and the storage capacity and transmission rate can be increased. In this paper, we proposed a sparse-ON pixel 4/6 balanced-modulation code that the code rate is 1.33 (bit/pixel) with uniform page density. Even though the performance of the proposed sparse-ON pixel 4/6 balanced-code is similar to 2/3 and 6/9 modulation codes, it can increase the storage capacity more than these modulation codes and also store more pages in a volume by reducing the rate of ON pixels to mitigate IPI (inter-page interference).

  • A Holographic data storage has some advantage of fast transmission, short access time and high storage capacity. However, it has several problems such as inter-symbol interference, inter-page interference and misalignment. Especially, for multi-level holographic data storage system, since one pixel contains more than 1bit, the system is more vulnerable to the error. In this paper, we propose a 3/4 modulation code which mitigate inter-symbol interference for 4-level holographic data storage.

  • Data storage related with writing and retrieving requires high storage capacity, fast transfer rate and less access time. Today any data storage system cannot satisfy these conditions, however holographic data storage system can perform faster data transfer rate because it is a page oriented memory system using volume hologram in writing and retrieving data. System can be constructed without mechanical actuating part therefore fast data transfer rate and high storage capacity about $1Tb/cm^3$ can be realized. In this paper, to reduce errors of binary data stored in holographic data storage system, a new method for bit error reduction is suggested. First, find cluster centers using subtractive clustering algorithm then reduce intensities of pixels around cluster centers and fuzzy rules. Therefore, By using this error reduction method following results are obtained ; the effect of Inter Pixel Interference noise is decreased and the intensity profile of data page becomes uniform therefore the better data storage system can be constructed.

  • In this paper, we introduce a modulation code design problem where best selection of two-dimensional codewords are determined to reduce two-dimensional (2D) intersymbol interference (ISI) and interpage interference (IPI). Codeword selection problem is formulated as a quadratic integer programming model that minimizes intra- and inter-symbol differences subject to uniform symbol usage and minimal Hamming distance violations. Second integer programming model detects the occurrence of isolated pixel pattern in the selected codewords. The proposed models are applied to 4-level and 2-level 6/8 codes.

  • In the holographic data storage system (HDSS), the data regarding the volume of a storage medium are recorded and read by the page, and the transmission rate and storage capacity can be increased because of two-dimensional, page-oriented data processing; furthermore, the multi-level HDSS can store more than one bit per pixel. For this same reason, however, and unlike conventional data-storage systems, the HDSS is hampered by two-dimensional (2D) intersymbol interference (ISI) and interpage interference (IPI). Progress regarding the published papers on 2D ISI, which is more severe in the multi-level HDSS, continues; however, mitigation of both 2D ISI and IPI in terms of the multi-level HDSS has not yet been studied. In this paper, we therefore propose a 4-level balanced-modulation code that simultaneously mitigates 2D ISI and IPI.

  • Holographic data storage (HDS) features short access times, high storage capacities, and fast transfer rates since the data is recorded and read not by lines but by pages within a volume of holographic material. Furthermore, a single pixel can store more than 1 bit if it is multi-level. However, there is a problem of inter-symbol interference (ISI) between the adjacent symbols if the level difference between neighboring symbols is large. Hence, one should avoid side by side placement of the smallest level symbol and the largest level symbol in any direction. This paper proposes a 12/16 modulation code for 4-level holographic data storage, so that the largest symbol is 3 and the smallest symbol is 0, in order to reduce the ISI.

  • In this paper, we study the interference canceling and image sensing processing technology of multiple light sources for high speed transmission in CMOS sensor based visible light communication system. To improve transmission capacity in optical camera communications via image sensors, different data must be transmitted simultaneously from each LED. However, multiple LED light source environments for high-speed transmission can cause interference between adjacent LEDs. In this case, since the visible light communication system generally uses intensity modulation, when a plurality of LEDs transmit data at the same time, it is difficult to accurately detect the respective LEDs due to the light scattering interference of the adjacent LEDs. In order to solve this problem, the ON / OFF state of many LEDs of the light source is accurately recognized by using a dual CMOS sensor, and the spectral estimation technique and the pixel image signal processing technique of each LED are proposed. This technique can accurately recognize multiple LED pixels and improve the total average bit error rate and throughput of a MISO-VLC system.
