Objectives This study is aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Chuna therapy for spondylolisthesis. Methods We searched th following 10 online databases without a language restriction (National Digital Science Library [NDSL], Research Information Sharing Service [RISS], Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], KMBASE, MEDLINE/PubMed, Cochrane library, Ebscohost, EMBASE, Ovid, China National Knowledge Infrastru [CNKI]) to find randomized controlled trials that used Chuna therapy for spondylolisthesis. The methodological quality of each randomized controlled clinical trial was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool and meta-analyses were perfomed. Results Eleven randomized controlled trials were included. Chuna therapy showed statistically significant reduction of symptoms. Meta-analysis showed positive results for Chuna therapy for spondylolisthesis in terms of therapeutic effects to traction, chinese medicine, therapeutic exercise. Conclusion In this study, we reviewed studies about Chuna therapy used for spondylolisthesis. The studies showed that Chuna therapy can significantly effective on spondylolisthesis. But according to Cochrane risk of bias evaluation method, most of the studies's risk of bias were unclear. Therefore, more high-quality studies will be needed.
Cerebral palsy is a nonprogressive brain disorder occurring during gestation, parturition or neonatal period with resultant abnormality of posture or other deficits. Recently the early diagnosis and early treatment has been emphasized in management of cerebral palsy. We studied 1 cerebral palsied child that having been treated anticonvulsive therapy in Sangge-Baek Hospital(상계 백병원) for 1 year. We improved the patient's general condition through dispensing Herb-Med(養胃湯 加味), thus we could reduce the antiepileptic & Sedative drug dose simultaneously controlling convulsion. In this point, we could find the possibility of east-west integrated medicine's cooperation and the fact that Herb-Med could be helpful to controlling convulsion.
Objectives This study was conducted to analyze the therapeutic effect of Chuna therapy for lateral epicondylitis. Methods Key words such as lateral epicondylitis and Chuna were searched in 10 databases (National Digital Science Library [NDSL], Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], Research Information Sharing Service [RISS], Koreanstudies Information Service [KISS], KMBASE, Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, J-STAGE, China Academic Jurnals [CAJ]), and only suitable randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were selected. Results 8 RCTs were finally selected, and Chuna therapy showed positive results for lateral epicondylitis compared to western medicine, acupuncture, warm-acupuncture and Chinese medicine iontophoresis. Conclusions In this study, we finally reviewed 8 studies about Chuna therpay used for lateral epicondylitis. The studies showed that Chuna therapy is effective in treating lateral epicondylitis. However, because all of selected studies were found in Chinese database, more high-quality clinical trials about Chuna therapy for lateral epicondylitis are needed in Korea.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was conducted to find correct facilitation and clinical facilitation with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF). Methods : This is a literature study with books, articles, seminar note and books for PNF international course. Results : Treatment approach was changed from managements of reflex to facilitation. The facilitation will make passive or active motion. But it can not match with normal functional activities, lack of the active movement, and facilitation of musculoskeletal can interaction with environment. Conclusions : Facilitation of the Functional activities in the main therapy goal. Any necessary information, such as visual and acoustical information must be integrated. Spatial summation and temporal summation integrated also. Integrated information for the facilitation will be increased activity of alpha-motorneurons, activity of interneurons, and muscle fiber structural changes from slow twitch fibers to fast twitch fibers. Suggested facilitate goal-oriented of movements at a functional level and reduce stiffness at structural level.
Purpose : This study aims to conduct a comprehensive comparison and analysis of intervention strategies utilized for school-aged children facing difficulties in writing, focusing on evaluating the effectiveness of various intervention approaches both domestically and internationally. The primary focus is on assessing the efficacy of each intervention approach and identifying gaps in the existing literature. Methods : Data for this study were gathered from the domestic database RISS from January 2013 to March 2020, and international databases Pubmed and Google Scholar were utilized. The keywords for domestic literature search included 'occupational therapy', 'handwriting', and 'school-aged', while for international literature search, the keywords were 'occupational therapy', 'handwriting', and 'children'. A total of 4 international and 2 domestic articles were selected for review based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results : The study findings present a thorough comparative analysis of intervention strategies, categorizing them into task-oriented intervention, sensory-motor intervention, and integrated intervention. All intervention methods demonstrated notable improvements in the legibility of handwriting. Comparison between domestic and international literature revealed a predominant use of task-oriented intervention in domestic studies, while international studies showcased a diverse range of intervention methods. Conclusion : Interventions were categorized into computer-based, task-oriented, sensory-motor, and integrated interventions. Task-oriented interventions were the most common in both domestic and international studies, while integrated interventions were the most effective. Based on these findings, it is necessary to increase awareness of the need for handwriting intervention research among occupational therapists in Korea. Additionally, there is a need for well-supported handwriting intervention research with larger sample sizes in both domestic and international occupational therapy. Finally, future research should actively investigate the application of tailored integrated interventions for school-aged children with handwriting difficulties.

There are few topic about a pulmonary thromboembolism(PTE) especially in Korean medical research. This case report is dealt with a rare situation that a PTE and a lacunar infarction are complicated in one patient. They have a similarity in that both are caused by the thrombosis. The former is the thrombosis in lung and the latter is the cerebral infarcion within the territory of a single perforating artery Recently the attack rate of PTE somewhat grow because of the development of medicine such as the increasing use of indwelling catheters, trauma or surgery of pelvis and lower extrimity, major surgery especially in senior, the use of estrogen containing compounds, cerebrovascular disease, obesity, etc. A 70 year-old lady was stroked by the cerebral infarction and has been getting rehabilitating therapy. She had the sudden onset of dyspnea, chest pain and those symptoms looked like a myocardial infarction. But she was diagnosed as PTE by ventilation perfusion lung scan. We cured her with the integrated therapy of Korean and Western medicine.
