In order to evaluate the educational outcome students' ability was surveyed for the four main elements of the curriculum. Four main elements were ability in application of nursing process, communication skill, critical thinking disposition, and competence in nursing profession. Method: The subjects were 97 nursing students who had been educated by the integrated curriculum for 4 years. Data were collected using self-report questionnaire on Dec. 6, 2006, and analyzed by using ANOVA, t-test, and pearson correlation coefficient. Result: The mean score of ability in application of nursing process was 3.78/5.00, communication skill was 3.98/5.00, critical thinking disposition was 3.73/5.00, and competence in nursing profession was 4.04/5.00. There was a significant correlation between four main elements of the curriculum. There was a significant difference in students' level of ability according to subjects' evaluation to the curriculum. Conclusion: The study results suggested that review and supplementation of the integrated curriculum. And further study on the educational outcome in order to upgrade the curriculum are needed.

  • This study is to develop the technology and the ways of the practical use of the integrated digital map of and Electronical Navigational Chart(ENC) and Digital Terrain Map(DTM) for the effective and scientific based conservation, development and management. In this study, as preliminary studies to make eventual integrated maps, the concept of coastal areas are defined and the characteristics of digital maps developed by Korean Geography Institute and National Marine Investigation Institute are carefully analyzed. A test coastal map was developed based on the integrated digital map, a high resolution satellite image and Global Positioning System. Results from the edge matching analysis of coastal lines shows 8 meters difference in maximum. The problems, causes and solutions for the edge matched differences are described. Furthermore, the practical value of utilization, future use and various field of application are described based on the integrated digital map data base of coast area.

  • In this paper, we propose a hybrid multi.system-on-chip (H-MSoC) architecture that provides a high-flexibility system in a rapid development time. The H-MSoC approach provides a flexible system-on-chip (SoC) architecture that is easy to configure for physical- and application-layer development. The physical- and application-layer aspects are dynamically designed and modified; hence, it is important to consider a design methodology that supports rapid SoC development. Physical layer development refers to intellectual property cores or other modular hardware (HW) development, while application layer development refers to user interface or application software (SW) development. H-MSoC is built from multi-SoC architectures in which each SoC is localized and specified based on its development focus, either physical or application (hybrid). Physical HW development SoC is referred to as physical-SoC (Phy-SoC) and application SW development SoC is referred to as application-SoC (App-SoC). Phy-SoC and App-SoC are connected to each other via Ethernet. Ethernet was chosen because of its flexibility, high speed, and easy configuration. For prototyping, we used a LEON3 SoC as the Phy-SoC and a ZYNQ-7000 SoC as the App-SoC. The proposed design was proven in real-time tests and achieved good performance.

  • Substrate integrated waveguide(SIW) constructed by two metal planes and conductive vias in a dielectric substrate, have all the conductors connected each other and hence, cannot be biased by DC sources. We propose a new folded corrugated substrate integrated waveguide(FCSIW) that can be DC-biased. Since the proposed FCSIW replaces the SIW conducting vias by folded open subs, it can supply the DC sources. The FCSIW has better transmission characteristics and 30 % less width than the common corrugated substrate integrated waveguide(CSIW) having a serious leakage generation problem. The FCSIW shows better insertion loss(1.49 dB) compared with that(3.08 dB) of the CSIW measured for 154 mm length devices and averaged at 9~15 GHz frequency band. No leakage has been observed from crosstalk measurements of the FCSIW.

  • Integrated development environment (IDE) plays an important role in reducing the developm ent time, thereby improving software development productivity. In recent years, ubiquitous sensor networks (USNs) have become increasingly popular. However their application software is developed mostly using command-line-based tools. Such a development process is not only likely to be error-prone but also inconvenient to debug errors. This paper describes a novel IDE for USN application developers called Nano Esto that provides a single, consistent, and integrated environment for building and executing USN applications. The Nano Esto helps the developers edit and cross-compile source code and download the executable image to the program memory of sensor nodes with just a few button clicks. It also provides support for configuring an application-specific kernel, simulating a wireless sensor network, and estimating power consumption in each sensor node. Currently, Nano Esto runs on Linux as well as on Windows with the same look and feel.

  • This study describes an application of a knowledge-based system for a part of the development of an integrated structural design system. In preliminary structural design procedure, most structural design operation are performed by structural engineer's manual method. These lack of systematic operation hampers the effective system integration. By introducing expert system to the structural planning stage, structural engineer can automate structural Planning process of an integrated structural design system for complex design. Engineering data management is receiving increasing attention due to complexity of information necessary for performing structural engineering operations. So, in this paper, we describe a methodology for automating conceptual structural design and developing a knowledge-based system integrated with database. At the end, we use an implemented example to support our methodology.

  • Electrical Designs for Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) has undergone a change recently with the advent of the sub-wavelength lithography. The optical projection with 193 nm wavelength has been further extended with the use of immersion and other techniques. The competing trends for printing smaller design features have been discussed in this paper with the discussion of the electrical layout analysis to find unfriendly design features. The early knowledge of the unfriendly design features allows remedial actions in time for better yield on the wafer. There are existing standard design qualification criteria being used in the design and fabrication community, but they seem to be insufficient to guarantee defect free designs. This paper proposes an integrated approach for screening the layout with multiple aspects: layout geometry based, graphical analysis and process model based verification. The results have been discussed with few example design features from the 28nm design layout.

  • The paper describes a formalisation of a Design for Safety methodology in an integrated envi-ronment, outlines early developments of a software tool, and presents the results of an appli-cation of the methodology to a case study. The approach adopted attempts link safety per-formance prediction through the utilisation of appropriate technical tools, safety assessment deriving from risk-based methodologies and disparate design activities and issues. Black-board systems have been utilised as the platform in the development of the integrated design environment, allowing safety assessment to become an integral part of the design process. Finally, the case study addresses the application of the developed methodology to three dif-ferent arrangements of a conventional passenger Ro-Ro vessel, with the aim to demonstrate the validity of the process and methodology adopted. The findings are presented and dis-cussed, and recommendations given for the way forward.
