  • Insulation aging diagnosis system provides early warning regarding electrical equipment defects. Early warning is very important in that it can avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. Since relations of insulation aging and partial discharge dynamics are non-linear. it is very difficult to provide early warning in an electrical equipment. In this paper, we propose the design method of insulation aging diagnosis system that use a electromagnetic wave and acoustic signal to diagnose an electrical equipment. Proposed system measures the partial discharge on-line from DAS(Data Acquisition System and acquires 2D patterns from analyzing it. For filtering the noise contained in sensor signals we used ICA algorithms. Using this data, we design of the neuro-fuzzy model that diagnoses an electrical equipment and is investigated in this paper. Validity of the new method is asserted by numerical simulation.

  • Recently energy management measures at the political level, for the purpose of reducing energy consumption in the building sector, are being actively introduced. As a practical method, the exterior insulation method, which is proven to effective in reducing the energy loss through walls, has been favored. In this study, detailed implementations are suggested to activate exterior insulation system which can improve the housing insulation performance. The newly designed Gang-form system with hanging scaffolding was suggested to revamp constructability for finishing outer wall. The research results are based on a multifaceted analysis of the current problems of exterior insulation systems, and on recommendations proposed by exterior insulation experts in the Charrette discussion. The study has indicates that the customized TACT schedule considering the site condition has shortened the construction period to 5 months from 7.5 months. Through utilizing the suggestions of this study, the prevalence of exterior insulation systems is expected to become widespread.

  • This paper describes the insulation coordination scheme of line in distribution system when the direct lightning surge strikes. The BIL that is applied to distribution system is not properly considered the performance and operation of arresters. Because of that, the high BIL is being used at partial system. This paper variously analyses the lightning overvoltage of line and equipment with earth of overhead grounding wire and installation types of arrester. From these result. authors examine the rationality of BIL.

  • The $SF_{6}$ gas insulated power equipments have the insulation systems which are composed of $SF_{6}$ gas and insulation paper. It is repored that their insulation abilities are influenced by the $SF_{6}$ gas gaps in those insulation systems and gas pressures. This paper describes partial discharge phenomena with $SF_{6}$ gas pressures in insulation system of $SF_{6}$ gas-insulation paper Specimens of $SF_{6}$ gas-insulation paper were prepared and aramid paper was used as insulation paper. Partial discharge inception voltages(PDIV) and breakdown voltages for the existence of $SF_{6}$ gas gaps were measured by short term tests with gas pressures. Also, average PD quantities and pulse counts, life times of each specimens were calculated from the results of long term aging tests with gas pressures. It was found that the $SF_{6}$ gas gaps decrease increasing rates of PDIV and brealdown voltages according to gas pressure increase and the insulation breakdown caused by the smaller PD quantities than 1[pC] at the high gas pressure of 300kPa is due to the increase of energy density with increase of gas pressure.

  • Recently, as the technology for the development of high voltage power apparatus using SF6 gas has made remarkable progress, it became possible to develop more compact power apparatus adopting single body substation system. In these gas insulated power apparatus, it is impossible to achieve perfect and safe insulation using only SF6 gas, because some solid insulation parts should be installed to support current-carrying conductor parts for electrical and mechanical safety. When spacers were installed in SF6 gas insulation system, they were exposed to severe electrical intensification which could reduce system insulation performance and restrict the rated operating voltage So, it is necessary to clarify the dielectric characteristics of spacers by analytically and experimentally, in order to design and develop more compact and optimum gas insulated systems. In this paper, the field distribution of three-phase spacers were investigated using three dimensional electrostatic field analysis tool adopting BEM method. And the obtained results were compared to the conventional two dimensional computations. According to these three dimensional calculations, it was possible to find out weak points in the spacer more clearly and these results could be applied to design more compact and optimum three phase spacer developments.

  • Photovoltaic (PV) systems are influenced by disproportionate impacts on energy production caused by frequent mismatch cases. The occurrence of multiple maximum power points (MPPs) adds complexity to the tracking process in various PV systems. However, current maximum-power point tracking (MPPT) techniques exhibit limited performance. This paper introduces an enhanced simulated annealing (ESA)-based GMPPT technique against multiple MPP issues in P-V curve with different PV system structures. The proposed technique not only distinguishes global and local MPPs but also performs rapid convergence speed and high tracking accuracy of irradiance changing and restart capability detection. Moreover, the proposed global maximum power tracking algorithm can be applied in the central converter of DMPPT and hybrid PV system to meet various application scenarios. Its effectiveness is verified by simulation and test results.

  • This study was to determine the effect of garment closures and layering systems on insulation, using a thermal movable manikin in cold weather conditions. The insulation values of ensembles with opened and closed features were measured, and those of four different layered clothing ensembles were tested while standing and while walking. Our research indicated that when there was an opening involved in design the system, insulation decreased; even a zip-out lining in the armpit affected little. If a light weight jacket and pants are put on over a fleece shirt and pants instead polyester underwear, the amount of insulation increase was 0.43 clo.

  • Cryogenic insulation systems, with proper materials selection and execution, can offer the highest levels of thermal performance. Insulations are listed in order of increasing performance and, generally, in order of increasing cost. The specific insulation to be used for a particular application is determined through a compromise between cost, ease of application and the effectiveness of the insulation. Consequently, materials, representative test conditions, and engineering approach for the particular application are crucial to achieve the optimum result. The present work is based on energy cost balance for optimizing the thickness of insulated chambers, using foamed or multi layered cryogenic shell. The considered insulation is a uniformly applied outer layer whose thickness varies with the initial and boundary conditions of the studied vessel under steady-state radial heat transfer. An expression of the optimal insulation thickness derived from the total cost function and depending on the geometrical parameters of the container is presented.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope an available outdoor insulation construction for the green roof system in Korea. On its own economical and structural problems of constructional risk, the typical outdoor insulation construction on the korean spot does not function efficiently with the green roof. Therefore, this study consists of four main contents as follows: 1. The objectives of the study are established by analysing the problems of the typical in- and outdoor roof insulation system in korea. 2. The foreign outdoor insulation systems for the green roof are clarified to find out an acceptable prototype for Korea. 3. According to loadtest, the prototype, which has a waterproof on the thermal insulation, is tested to demonstrate the structural safety. 4. The U-value test of the prototype on KS F 2277 brings the thermal performance of the green roof system, which can influence the thickness of the insulation.
