The aging diagnosis method using partial discharge measurement detects discharge signals that critical cause of failure in insulation material operated a long time and can diagnose aging state of insulation materials with an aging analysis algorithm. The HFPD measurement method is a technique to analyze aging state of high voltage insulation materials and detect higher frequency signals than conventional PD measurement method therefore it takes less noise effect and could execute active line measurement. It is possible to analyze main discharge phenomena and obtain access to aging progress occurred in insulation materials through accumulation of HFPD signals during determined interval and expression of fractal dimension using statistical process of accumulated signals. The HFPD signals that occurred in each applied voltages are measured during 180 cycles and accumulated to the same phase of one cycle. These patterns that made by previous method are normalized with logarithm function and than inputted to neural networks. The aging diagnosis of insulation material was possible and the recognition ratio of neural network appeared very high.
A growing number of gas-insulated transformers in underground power substations in urban areas are approaching 20 years of operation, the time when failures begin to occur. It is thus essential to prevent failure through accurate condition diagnosis of the given facility. Various solid insulation materials exist inside of the transformers, and the generated decomposition gas may differ for each gas-insulated equipment. In this study, a simulation system was designed to analyze the deterioration characteristics of SF6 decomposition gas and insulation materials under the conditions of partial discharge and thermal fault for diagnosis of gas-insulated transformers. Degradation characteristics of the insulation materials was determined using an automatic viscometer and FT-IR. The analysis results showed that the pattern of decomposition gas generation under partial discharge and thermal fault was different. In particular, acetaldehyde was detected under a thermal fault in all types of insulation, but not under partial discharge or an arc condition. In addition, in the case of insulation materials, deterioration of the insulation itself rapidly progressed as the experimental temperature increased. It was confirmed that it was possible to diagnose the internal discharge or thermal fault occurrence of the transformer through the ratio and type of decomposition gas generated in the gas-insulated transformer.
Insulation aging diagnosis system provides early warning regarding electrical equipment defect. Early warning is very important in that it can avoid great losses resulting from unexpected shutdown of the production line. Since relations of insulation aging and partial discharge dynamics are non-linear, it is very difficult to provide early warning in an electrical equipment. In this paper, we propose the design method of insulation aging diagnosis system that use a magnetic wave and acoustic signal to diagnoses an electrical equipment. Proposed system measures the partial discharge on-line from DAS(Data Acquisition System) and acquires 2D patterns from analyzing it. For filtering the noise contained in sensor signals we used ICA algorithms. Using this data, design of the neuro-fuzzy model that diagnoses an electrical equipment is investigated. Validity of the new method is asserted by numerical simulation.
In this study, we detected electromagnetic waves generated in an enclosed switchgear and applied various statistical methods for detecting signals. We calculated the various statistical factors via the appropriate statistical methods. Further, we used these statistics to recognize the characteristics for each pattern by identifying the partial discharge in each case for normal, proceeding and abnormal states. The characteristics of electromagnetic wave patterns occurred in various states at electric power facilities and were used as an output variable for more efficient diagnosis. In this paper, we confirmed that the pattern of partial discharge signal can be used as one of the factors used to analyze the insulation state and to consider while estimating diagnosis of insulation states by recognizing the signal pattern to intelligence. We will utilize the proposed diagnosis method to determine insulation degradation states.
The winding problems of traction motor are the major determinant of motor's life. The root cause of winding failure is gradual deterioration of the insulation due to thermal, electrical, mechanical and environmental stresses. The aging of the insulation reduces the electrical and mechanical strength of the insulation. At same point, a voltage surge or mechanical shock from a traction motor start will fracture or break down the insulation. To achieve the expected life usually requires extensive laboratory evaluation of the insulation systems and the use of accelerated aging tests. There are several nondestructive test available for checking, the condition of motor insulation, the probable extent of aging, and the rate of which aging is taking place. So the insulation characteristics of stator coil were each analyzed by measurement of dielectric loss(tan$\sigma$), capacitance and partial discharge. The method of diagnosis is able to analyze the insulation condition and evaluate the life of the traction motor.
In this paper, stator form-winding sample coils based on silicone resin and polyimide were made for fault prediction and reliability estimation on the 200 Class insulation system of traction motors. The complex accelerative degradation was performed by periods during 10 cycles, which was composed of thermal stress, fast rising surge voltage, vibration, water immersion and overvoltage applying. After aging of 10 cycles, condition diagnosis test such as insulation resistance & polarization index, capacitance & dielectric loss and partial discharge properties were investigated in the temperature range of 20∼160$^{\circ}C$. Relationship among condition diagnosis test was analyzed to find an dominative degradation factor and an insulation state at end-life point.
Because Insulation material is play an important part for normal work of electricity equipment, the study is advanced, but as the voltage of electricity system is raising, we required that new lnsulation material. They have excellent specific against high stress, namely the study of insulation increase and prevention diagnosis of insulation degradation of Epoxy or XLPE and so on. In this thesis. I utilize image processing technique for effective inspection of insulation material degradation.

In hydro-generator, a groundwall insulation of stator windings gradually deteriorates due to mechanical, thermal, electrical and environmental stresses. These stresses combine to result in loose windings, delamination of the stator insulation and/or electrical tracking of the endwinding, all of which can lead to stator insulation failures. Conventionally, off-line tests such as partial discharge measurement, DC/AC current and .DELTA.tan.delta. tests has been used for estimation of winding condition. However, off-line test requires large power supply and generator outage. In addition, major cause of insulation problems such as loose wedges and slot dischages may not be found with off-line diagnoses. This paper introduces the on-line partial discharge measurement techniques using frequency spectrum analyzer(FSA) for the generator stator windings. The experimental results from the UIAM #1 hydro-generator confirms a optimistic application of on-line generator diagnosis method as a reliable tool for evaluation of winding condition.
