Currently, most high-voltage gas circuit breakers (CBs) include asymmetrical geometries in the shield, the tank, the hot-gas exhaust, and the connection parts for bushings. For this reason, a 3-dimensional (3-D) analysis of the insulation capability is necessary, rather than a 2-D analysis. However, a 3-D analysis has difficulties due to the computational time and complex modeling. This paper presents a 3-D analysis considering the asymmetry in high-voltage gas CBs and a technique to reduce the calculation time. In the proposed technique, the arc plasma requiring the most computational time is first calculated by a 2-D analysis. Then, the results such as pressure, temperature, and velocity are input as a source for the 3-D analysis. This technique is applied to a 145kV self-blast-type CB and the analysis result exhibits good agreement with the experimental result.

This paper presents analytical and numerical simulation approaches on charging characteristics of no-insulation (NI) REBCO pancake coil by using the equivalent circuit model to estimate magnetic performance response in the coil. The analytical methods provide closed form or definite solution in the form of complete mathematical expressions but they are hard to solve the complex problems. Numerical methods have become popular with the development of the computing capabilities to solve the problems which are impossible or very hard to solve analytically. First of all, the equivalent circuit model are proposed to develop the simulation code for both analytical and numerical method. The charging test was performed under critical current to obtain magnetic field induced and terminal voltage through the radial as well as spiral current paths within the coil. To verify the validity of both proposed methods, the simulation results were compared and discussed with the experimental results.
It was found that temperature and humidity did not affect the leakage current since the leakage current was irregularly increased or decreased at a temperature of $22^{\circ}C$ to $32^{\circ}C$ and a humidity of 60.0% to 96.0%. The insulation resistance in the vicinity of $26^{\circ}C$ was $10.70M{\Omega}$ to $4,000.00M{\Omega}$ and was low from $9.10M{\Omega}$ to $1,000.00M{\Omega}$ before and after $26^{\circ}C$. As the humidity was increase in a range of 60%~96%, the insulation resistance was reduced from $4,000.00M{\Omega}$ to $4.80M{\Omega}$, which indicates that the temperature and humidity had an influence on the insulation resistance. The leakage current and the insulation resistance of the branch circuit to the cooking facilities were compliant with less than 1.00 mA and more than $0.20M{\Omega}$. Leakage current of 1.89 mA was non-compliant but the insulation resistance was compliant with the value of $65.00M{\Omega}$.
The main cause of cable accidents is the accelerated deterioration of the cable itself or internal and external electrical, mechanical, chemical, thermal, moisture intrusion, etc., which reduces insulation performance and causes insulation breakdown, leading to cable accidents. Insulation deterioration can occur even when there is no change in the appearance of the cable, so there is a difficulty in preventing cable accidents due to insulation deterioration. Since cable accidents can occur in areas with poor insulation due to the effects of overvoltage and overcurrent, it is necessary to comprehensively analyze transformers and circuit breakers, and ground faults caused by phase-to-phase imbalance. Ground fault accidents due to insulation breakdown of cables can occur due to defects in the cable itself and poor cable construction, as well as operational influences, arcs during operation of electrical equipment (switchers, circuit breakers, etc.). analysis is needed. This study intends to examine the causes of cable accidents through analysis of cable accidents that occurred in a manufacturing factory.

In this paper a nobel optimum design method is presented for a shield in a vacuum interrupter which is equipped in switchgear to improve its electric insulation capability. The design of Taguchi experiment method which is based on the results by finite element method is used to find optimum design conditions. The important design factors are chosen at first and the concept of signal to noise ratio is applied to evaluate the vacuum interrupter performance, and the optimal values of each parameters are determined. From the results of various analyses, it is shown that the shield plate in circuit circuit breaker compartment of switchgear can reduce the concentration of electric field intensity. This method is very useful to design the construction of a shield in a short time. Consequently, the insulation capability of circuit breaker compartment in a gas insulated switchgear is improved by adopting an additional optimized shaped shield.

Currently high power Light Emitting Diode (LED) is in the limelight due to its characteristics of long durability, low maintenance costs, and high efficiency. Furthermore, it does not emit pollutants or poisonous gases and is a light source not using mercury, so it holds a high status in eco-friendly terms as well. In this paper, we studied a two-stage LED power drive circuit that can compensate only voltage regulation through LED output current, in order to improve efficiency of LED drive with constant current control in accordance with changes in temperature. The proposed LED drive has an advantage of reducing LED drive's voltage losses by controlling only voltage change of input power, compared with an existing circuit which controls input voltage. The suggested non-insulation compensating circuit for voltage change was verified to have improved efficiency relative to a LED drive using existing DC/DC converter.
Recently, the insulation breakdown accident happened at 6.6kV inverter driving motor brings out the reliability decrease to the motor driving system. We need to find the solution with system engineering level. The objectives of this study are developing the appropriate filter for the drive to protect the motor and the insulation system of motor which is driven by inverter. The circuit parameters of cable are calculated by EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program) to simulate the system. And we use MATLAB to find the appropriate filter parameter. The simulation and the test results are compared to verify the suitability of the filter parameter. We clarify the cause of the deterioration of the inverter driving motor through the analysis of insulation breakdown accidents. The endurance test scheme and the configuration method of insulation system are established.
Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas is used widely in electric power equipment such as Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), Gas Insulation transmission Line (GIL), and Gas Circuit Breaker (GCB). But applications of SF6 should be restricted because SF6 gas is one of the greenhouse effect gases. To reduce use of SF6 gas, a study on eco-friendly alternative insulation medium is needed. In this paper, we investigated lightning impulse (LI) breakdown of dry-air which is attracting attention as an ecofriendly alternative gas and the LI breakdown of hybrid insulation combined with dry-air and solid insulation (Room-Temperature Vulcanizing Silicone Rubber-RTV SIR) and dry-air in inhomogeneous fields according to gap distance and pressure. The experiment results showed that the LI breakdown strength of hybrid insulation system was higher than that of dry-air insulation system. It was verified that the development of technology related to eco-friendly power apparatus compact such GIS, GCB and GIL can be used as basic research data.

The recent power system is required to a large size of facilities and high power technology according to increasing power demand. However, it could lead to spoiling the beauty of city and environment problem. The miniaturized facilities with large capacity such as GIS have been required in recent power system. The GIS(Gas Insulated Substation) using the SF6 insulation gas enables to miniaturize facilities with large capacity with high insulation performance. However, the substation installed GIS has required to new design model which is different from the conventional substation. The TRV(Transient Recovery Voltage) analysis on simple circuit may applied by differential equation. However, in case of relatively complicated system, EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transients Program) mainly has been used to design and simulate for transient analysis. This paper mainly design the 22.9 kV GIS system and analyze the transient recovery voltage of main circuit breaker using EMTP/RV. It also enables to easily design the other substation installed GIS with same maker and voltage level because the proposed GIS model consists of separated modules such as busbar, circuit breaker, bushing, CT, PT etc. Eventually, it contributes to comfortably compare the interrupting performance of circuit breaker and system TRV corresponding to the substation system configuration.
Sleepers perform bearing rails and are underneath rails. Therefore, the current and voltage of rails are related to the resistance of sleepers. In case that the resistance of sleepers are low, operation problems of relays in tr ack circuits are occur because of flowing leakage current through sleepers. So the condition that the track circuit is always occupied by a train is kept. Currently, the creosote has been used in wood sleepers due to prevention against putrefaction. After a long time, the material is changeable to the chemistry material bases on carbon dioxide or carbon. So, the insulation resistance of wood sleepers is lower than the initial insulation resistance. In case of effecting wood sleepers as conductors, amplitude of the current and voltage on rails is decreased. This phenomenon causes that a train does not receive signals. In this paper, four-network model on the track circuit including the insulation resistance of sleepers is suggested. Also, the standard value of the resistance in straight section is proposed in the wood sleeper.
