The effect of the student-centered instruction on English achievement and self-directed learning attitudes (학습자 중심 수업이 영어 학업 성취도와 자기 주도적 학습태도에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of the method of English teaching and learning through the student-centered environmental instruction. I've been skeptical about the traditional instruction, which is composed of the teachers-centered instruction, because of the lack of creativity. Until now, I've always wished to have an alternative method that can be substituted for routine's style. To achieve it, I selected 90 students from 2 classes, in the 3rd year at a girls' high school in Chungnam as the subject of study. I divided them into two groups, the student-centered environmental instruction and the teacher-centered traditional instruction. The tools used in this study are a preliminary English achievement test, a self-directed learning attitudes test and two teaching plans. For this test, a high school text book was assigned. I have treated 20 times of the test each for two groups using two types of teaching-learning plans which I made for this purpose. To verify the hypotheses after administrating the test, I selected t-verification for post test result. Based on this test result, I could conclude that there was a significant improvement of English proficiency and a change in the self-directed learning attitudes; also the student-centered environmental instruction is more effective than teachers-centered instruction.

  • The purpose of this study has been found to be effective using web-based instruction than traditional teaching-learning method on academic achievement applying the meta-analysis method. The results of this study were as follows: First, The 85% subject of analysis of web-based instruction selected in this study turned out to be clear effective than traditional teaching-learning method in academic achievement of students. Second, Web-based instruction is more effective for academic achievement of elementary school students and university students than for middle school students and high school students relatively. Third, Web-based instruction is a most effective method in social subject and physical education but less effective in language subject. The overall results of this study concluded more powerful and big decisions which have integrated each different effects on academic achievement of studies web-based instruction method applying meta-analysis. Through this study, make better results were obtained and suggested the base line data and direction for follow up studies.

  • In this paper, we present the architecture of graphics processor and its instruction format for the mobile device. In addition, we introduce tile shader data structure for the on/off-line compilation based on the OpenGL ES 2.0 and a new optimization method based on the ILP(Instruction-Level Parallelism). This paper shows where a processor with the sane core clock is being used, the shader instruction resulted from the compile structure and method in this paper is approximately 1.5 to 2 times faster than a code based on the single instruction.

Operation Rearrangement for Low-Power VLIW Instruction Fetches (저전력 VLIW 명령어 추출을 위한 연산재배치 기법)

  • As mobile applications are required to handle more computing-intensive tasks, many mobile devices are designed using VLIW processors for high performance. In VLIW machines where a single instruction contains multiple operations, the power consumption during instruction fetches varies significantly depending on how the operations are arranged within the instruction. In this paper, we describe a post-pass optimal operation rearrangement method for low-power VLIW instruction fetch, The proposed method modifies operation placement orders within VLIW instructions so that the switching activity between successive instruction fetches is minimized. Our experiment shows that the switching activity can be 34% on average fro benchmark programs.

Comparison of Nios II Core-based Accelerators (Niod II 코어기반 가속기 비교)

  • Checksum and residue checking accelerators were implemented on a Nios II core-based platform according to component method, in which the corresponding hardware was implemented with HDL coding, a custom instruction method, in which the instruction set of the processor was extended, and the C2H method, in which the corresponding logic was automatically created by the C2H compiler. The processing results from each accelerator for each algorithm were then examined and compared. The results of the comparison showed that the accelerator implemented with the C2H method is the fastest in terms of the execution time, and the accelerator with custom instruction requires the least add-on from the viewpoint of add-on hardware.

  • This study is supposed to institutionalization's strategies of information literacy instruction(LAI) and library assited instruction considering national level curriculum. The national level curriculum is composed five elements with subjects matter's goal, objects, instructional contents, teaching & learning method, evaluation. Supposed curriculum added cooperative system 'library and information use' subject between other subject, it composed of total 6 elements.

  • In this paper, we present a effective low-power technique which can reduce significantly the switching activity in instruction address bus, pipeline and I-cache. Using this method, named Guarded Operation, we has implemented address register. address bus architecture without complex hardware and designed loop buffer without tag. These architectures reduce 67% of switching activity with little overhead and also increase instruction-fetch performance.

  • This study as a series of the previous study, "A Study on the Methodology for Planning Safety Prevention, " is to find out what method will be the best for efficient safety instruction using a questionware with the five questions. Based on the answers from directly working labors, this study has been processed with procedures as follows; 1) Review on general safety instruction. 2) Distribute questionwares to only on-the-job labors. 3) Analyze the results from questionwares. 4) Conclude efficient method from the results analyed.

The Professors' Perception of Blended Learning through Network Analysis of Keyword: Focusing on Reflective Journal (키워드 네트워크 분석을 통한 블렌디드 러닝 수업에 대한 인식연구: 성찰일지를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore professors' perception of blended learning. For this purpose, the reflective journals written by 56 university professors was analyzed using the keyword network analysis method. The results of this study are as follows: First, as a result of keyword frequency analysis for the blended learning, the keywords showed the highest frequency in the order of (1) 'instructional design', 'student', 'instructional method', 'learning objective' in the area of learning, (2) 'importance', 'instruction', 'feeling', 'student' in the area of feeling, and (3) 'semester', 'plan', 'weekly', and 'instruction' in the area of action plan. Second, the results of analyzing the degree, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality of network connection are as follows. (1) The keywords 'instruction', 'instructional method', 'instructional design', and 'learning objective' in the area of learning, (2) the keywords 'instruction', 'importance', and 'necessity' in the area of feeling, and (3) 'instruction', 'plan', and 'semester' in the area of action plan showed high values in degree, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality. Based on the research results, implications for blended learning and professors' perception were discussed.

  • WBI(Web Based Instruction) has been confined to some course due to a burden of development of instruction materials. In this paper, we implemented a personalized instruction and learning system for Word Processor based on Internet by using WBI. Compared to the traditional instruction and learning method for Word Processor Education, the proposed method induce students to take an interest in the learning and make it possible to do student oriented instruction and learning due to the selection of specific contents according to student's ability and his/her learning step. And this system can evaluate the learning rate on the spot by using personalized homework and maximize learning effect by using feedback.
