협동학습이 학습자의 학습태도 및 자기주도학습력에 미치는 효과 (Effects of cooperative learning on learning attitude and self-directed learning capability of learners)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of cooperative learning on the learning attitude and self-directed learning capability of learners. Methods: The subjects were 50 sophomores enrolled in cooperative learning for 12-week period from March to June, 2014. A self-reported questionnaire was completed by the subjects. The instruments were 16 questions of learning attitude, 32 questions of self-directed learning, academic achievement, and 12 questions of satisfaction with instruction by Likert 5 scale. Cronbach's alpha was 0.84 in the previous study and 0.78 in this study. Self-directed learning was modified by Yoo and Cheong. Cronbach's alpha of self-directed learning was 0.86 in this study. Academic achievement was assessed by before and after the cooperative learning class. Cronbach's alpha was 0.95 in this study. Their learning attitude and self-directed learning capability were evaluated before and after the cooperative learning, and their satisfaction with the instruction and academic achievement were assessed by the written examination. Results: The score of learning attitude increased from 2.89 in the pretest to 3.38 in the posttest. The self-directed learning of the students increased from 2.98 in the pretest to 3.48 in the posttest. The academic achievement of students also increased from 82.0 in the pretest to 85.2 in the posttest. The satisfaction with instruction was 4.24 of Likert 5 scale. There were significant differences in satisfaction with instruction, cooperative learning and academic achievement. Conclusions: It is important to develop the cooperative learning program linked to self-directed learning for the dental hygiene students continuously. This study will provide the basic data and information for the development of new teaching methods for the dental hygiene.

구강보건인력의 예방치과진료에 대한 인식 및 교육요구도 (Awareness and educational needs on preventive dental treatment among oral health workers)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study is to provide basic data needed in developing an educational program designed to upgrade capacity and awareness of preventive dental treatment among oral health workers, by analyzing levels of awareness of preventive dental treatment and educational needs among dentists and dental hygienists. Methods: The collected data was analyzed with SPSS program ver. 19.0. The data was under t-test. Results: The frequency level of giving preventive dental treatment to patients among dentists and dental hygienists is below mid-point, 3 on the 5-point Likert scale. In terms of frequency level per item, scaling & polishing was ranked the highest, followed by periodontal maintenance, tooth-brushing instruction, and prescription and instruction of oral care product in descending order. On the questions asking how important preventive dental care they perceive to be, both dentists and dental hygienists perceived it to be highly important. When they were asked to rank those items by the importance of education, they considered periodontal maintenance as the most important one, followed by individual education of oral health, incremental oral health care, scaling& polishing, toothbrushing instruction, and prescription and instruction of oral care product. Respondents pointed out problems in running a preventive dental treatment program as follows: overwork, lack of dedicated workforce, un-fixed costs, and lack of necessary equipment. When they were asked to point out items needed to run such a program, the largest number of respondents indicated dedicated workforce placement, followed by improving awareness of the customer, and improving awareness of the dental workers. Conclusions: In order to effectively run a preventive dental treatment program, it is necessary for oral health workers to clearly understand the concept of it. It is also necessary to develop and operate an education program on preventive dental treatment targeting oral health professionals.

초등학교 자연과 생작은생물생 단원의 수업 실태 분석 (An Analysis of the Instructional State of the Unit 생Small Living Things′ in the Elementary School Science)

  • The purpose of this study is to survey the instructional state of the unit 'Small Living Things' in the Elementary School Science. for this study, 100 teachers were surveyed on teaching-learning practices. More specifically, questions were asked on the degree of accomplishing instruction objectives, frequency of field . study, experimental preparation, alternative instructional methods, amount of preparation, availability of reference books for teachers and availability of information materials on the Kwangju region. Our results show that teachers find the objectives related to the collection of living things for class experiments and the task of growing and observing them the most difficult to accomplish. It was reported that 38% of teachers have actually conducted field trips. The obstacles listed in going out on field study range from lack of knowledge of appropriate places, lack of time, to safety concerns. The most difficult problem in teaching this unit was preparing proper instructional materials, regardless of teacher's gender, career, and interest. Most respondents let children provide the experimental subjects. Teachers with collection experience tend to provide for the experimental materials themselves. Our Analysis also reveals that more than 70% of the respondents do not have adequate knowledge of the species dealt with in the unit. Gender, career, and interest area of the teachers did not make any difference (p< .05). In the case that proper experimental subjects have not been prepared, VTR, textbooks, and charts were reported as the most frequently used alternative instruction aids. The level of content and amount of knowledge contained in this unit were found to be appropriate. Information on instruction materials and experiment-observation were obtained through the teaching manual or periodicals (58%), information materials on the region(20%), and fellow teachers (12%). Reference books for teachers and materials on the region are perceived to be inadequate in order of importance in the areas of preparation method, level-wise learning guide, experimental observation, and information on species covered in text. Overall, it was judged that the highest concern was with obtaining experimental materials, and teacher's reference books and materials on the region need to be reinforced to allow teachers to more fully utilize them. Development and distribution of proper instruction-learning materials to the children's level is also required.

환경 교수-학습 절차 모형 개발을 위한 환경교육의 현장 적용 지도 사례 분석 (The Analysis of Case Studies for developing model of Instructional procedure in Environmental Education)

  • Since 1970', the international community has displayed a heightened consciousness concerning the Earth environment and Environmental Education has became to be as survival strategies for the environment and human life. For developing the model of instructional procedure for educating environmental behaviors in environmental education, this study analyzed the objectives, characteristics, contents, instructional methods and instructional procedures of case studies that were awarded the first prize of the Contest of the Case Study in Korea that were had charged by KFTA. The main results of this study were as follows :(1) the more objectives for environmental education were focused on “formulating values and attitudes for the environment”, some objectives for “skills” need to investigate or solve the environmental issues were found, and some objectives for “environmental behaviors”. (2) the more contents of environmental education were focused on “environmental pollutions” (3) the more instructional methods for environmental education used for “investigating or experiment” to solve the environmental issues or problems, some methods for “taking actions for the environment”. (4) the most of case studies were used the model of environmental instruction that were developed by KEDI in 1988. Conclusionally, This study suggested that you have to emphasis on level of responsible citizen behaviors to resolve the environmental issues or problems in the environmental instructional procedures.

  • Objectives : This study was to propose the improved instruction for authors and research ethic regulations by the comparative analysis of those of the domestic journals, for the purpose of enhancing the citation rate of Journal of Korean Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society. Methods : Narrative review method was used for comparatively analyzing instruction for authors of 34 domestic journals, especially focused on how to write a reference. Thereafter, in order to elucidate the drawbacks of current instruction for authors and research ethic regulations of the acupuncture and moxibustion society, the well prepared instructions and research ethic regulations was selected from them, which were compared with the present instructions for authors and research ethic regulations of the acupuncture and moxibustion society. Results : As a result of the comparative analysis of instruction for authors in the 34 domestic journals, style for references was based largely on that of National Library of Medicine and vancouver at the same time. The number of reference was limited according to types of writings. for example, the original article and case report was frequently limited to 40 and 20 references respectively. Authors were mostly listed up to six. If there are more, the first three or six authors were listed with 'et al'. it was generally recommended that using abstracts as references should be avoided and References to papers accepted but not yet published should be designated as 'in press' or 'forthcoming', and that the names of journals should be set in italics and abbreviated according to the List of Journals Indexed for Medline (formerly Index Medicus) published by the National Library of Medicine or koreanmed or WHO-IST, etc. In addition, citation of electrical literature, English writing of reference and obligational citation of more than two articles in the journals were encouraged. In consequence of comparison between well prepared instructions and research ethic regulations of the selected journals and those of current instructions for authors and research ethic regulations of the acupuncture and moxibustion society, the followings were needed to be added or revised. 1. Requirements for case reports were not mentioned. 2. Reporting Guidelines for Specific Study Designs were not included. 3. Previous Orthography of herbal prescription should be revised. 4. Orthography of authors and guidelines for writing article constituents such as title, abstract, introduction, method, statistics, results, discussions were not presented. 5. How to write a reference was so simplified. 6. Definition of Research Ethical Misconduct was omitted and establishment, management and members of committee for research ehtics were not mentioned, 7. Information, reception and investigative procedures of Research Ethical Misconduct was not specified. Conclusions : For the development of Journal of Korean Acupuncture and Moxibustion Society, apporopriate revision of the instruction for author and research ethic regulations should be made based upon the above findings. English writing of reference were believed to be one of the alternatives enhancing citation rate.

각기둥의 정의 만들기에 관한 지도 사례 연구 -초등학교 5학년을 대상으로- (A Scheme of the Instruction of Prism Definition for 5th Grade Students)

  • 이 연구에서는 각기둥의 정의 만들기 활동을 위한 학생용 활동지를 개발하여 초등학교 5학년 학생들에게 실행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다. 정의 만들기 수업에서 핵심은, 학습지에 차례로 제시되는 비(非) 예들이 포함되지 않도록 기존의 정의를 수정하여 새로운 정의를 만드는 것이었다. 연구 결과로, 학생들이 각기둥의 성질을 어떻게 인식하며, 비(非) 예를 제거하는 과정에서 각기둥의 정의에 사용되는 성질들로 무엇이 부각되는지를 알 수 있었다. 더불어 정의 만들기 활동을 통한 학생들의 수학적 정의에 대한 인식의 변화를 확인할 수 있었다.

능력 중심 교육의 가치가 공업계 고등학교 교육의 운영 개선에 주는 시사점 (Suggestions for Improvement of Industrial High School Education Based on the Value of Competency-Based Education)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest plans to improve the industrial high school through the inquiry of Competency-Based Education(CBE). The suggestions are as followings: (1) Selection and organization of the educational contents of industrial high school must be based on job analysis. (2) Instructional objectives must be defined as a performance objective and enabling objectives. (3) Instruction must be individualized in method, the instructional contents must be organized in the unit of module. (4) Evaluation system must be not knowledge based but performance-based. (5) Physical Environment of work shop must be organized based on facilities, equipments and machines abstracted by job analysis. (6) Competency-Based Teacher Education(CBTE) program is required to train competent teachers in practice.

일부 고등학교 학생들의 구강보건교육에 대한 구강건강증진 효과 (Effectiveness of oral health promotion on the oral health education in some high school students)

  • Objectives : This study is to examine the effectiveness in the oral health promotion through the oral health education for high school students. In adolescence, there seems to be the high incidences of dental caries, gingivitis and periodontal diseases. Concerning preventing all such outbreaks, this study focuses on applying the oral health education to their health education, and on analyzing its effectiveness. Methods : To verify its effectiveness, this research administered 85 students of both genders of a certain high school in Seoul during May-October 2010, followed by the evaluation of DMFT, S-PHP, and CPITN. Results : First, the oral health promotion through the education was statistically significant in the permanent effects of index (FT index). Second, the effect of S-PHP index gradually decreased in statistics from the first to the fifth session, but, after five months ever since the education, it seemed relatively higher in the next sessions. Third, the changing in the level of CPITN decreased continuously as the students received the education repeatedly, but there is no significant difference in statistics for each session. Conclusions : For the oral health promotion in the high school students, the education ought to be focused on the behavior-change objectives rather than on the knowledge-based objectives. The repeated education for tooth-brushing instruction should be stressed for preventing from returning to the old bad behaviors.

Developing A Framework for Performance Assessment in Science Education

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Framework for Performance Assessment in Science Education(FPASE). Science educators in the past have paid more attention to science curriculum and teaching strategies than assessment. In recent years, attention has turned toward performance assessment which addresses the concerns of science curriculum and instruction, and which is consistent with goals of science education at various levels of interests. Science educators are trying to do performance assessment, yet they don't have a framework that is highly qualified in terms of science educational objectives for the future, and advantages of performance assessment. We, therefore, have developed a framework for performance assessment in science education, which may be useful for science teachers to understand and assess their students' abilities. We have extracted seven domains covering students' various abilities as the important objectives of science performance assessment and grouped them into three categories: General, Science specific, and Intermediate abilities. And we developed a F-PASE with a three dimensional solid figured structure, and illustrated it as the configuration of a com. F-PASE is useful for science teachers to develop and select a science performance assessment as well as have a more advanced understanding of their students' abilities. It is a creative and novel assessment framework in terms of structure, configuration, functions and meanings. It also suggests a new vision of an assessment framework in science education.

스마트 러닝 교수학습 설계모형 탐구 (Research on Developing Instructional Design Models for Enhancing Smart Learning)

  • 최근 등장한 스마트 러닝에 대한 관심의 확산에 따라 본 논문에서는 스마트 러닝의 개념을 도구적 접근, 환경적 접근, 그리고 이론적 접근을 통해 살펴보았다. 스마트 러닝을 수업에 적용하기 위한 원리로서는 교육내용 측면에 있어서 풍부한 학습자원의 활용, 교육방법에 있어서 상호작용을 통한 참여적 환경, 그리고 교육경험에 있어서 실제적 맥락과 경험제공을 들 수 있다. 이들 개념 및 원리에 근거하여 제시된 스마트 러닝 교수학습모형 설계는 목표설정, 자원확인, 환경선정, 수업과정 설계, 수업도구 개발, 수업적용, 그리고 평가 및 분석의 단계로 접근될 수 있다. 이 같은 스마트 러닝 현황을 기반으로 향후 개별적 수업상황에 적합한 구체적인 개발전략의 지속적 연구가 요구된다.
