  • For the performance upgrade of a supersonic jet fighter, the processor and FLCC(Flight Control Computer) Architecture were upgraded from a baseline FLCC. Prior to the hardware implementation phase, the exact CPU throughput estimation is necessary. For this purpose, an experimental method for new FLCC throughput estimation was introduced in this study. While baseline FLCC operating, the CPU address bus was collected with logic analyzer, and then decoded to get the exact access times to each memory-memory and the number of program Instruction branches. Based on these data, a throughput test in CPU demo-board of the new FLCC configuration was performed. From test results, the CPU-Memory architecture was design-changed before FLCC hardware implementation phase. To check the flight stability degradation due to power-interrupt problem due to CPU-Memory architecture change, the piloted HILS (Hardware-In-the Loop Simulator) test was conducted.

  • Problem-based learning (PBL) appears to be a superior and effective strategy to train competent and skilled practitioners and to promote long-term retention of knowledge and skills acquired during the learning experience. This study concerns the implementation of PBL in the online environment and face-to-face PBL. An online environment allows participants to communicate with one another, view presentations or videos, interact with other participants, and engage with resources in work groups. Nowadays, education is accessible everywhere with the use of digital devices. Educational institutions subscribe to GSuite for Education, and Google introduced its Google Classroom as an e-learning platform. This study aims to analyze Google Classroom and to design PBL for Mongolian students taking Korean courses. The main objective of this paper is to identify the usability and evaluation of Google Classroom. The result of this study will be a proposed e-learning platform for Dornod University, Mongolia, which is initially needed in the Natural Science and Business Department.

  • Dynamic update of kernel can change kernel functionality and fix bugs in runtime. Dynamic update is important because it leverages availability, reliability and flexibility of kernel. An instruction-granularity update technique has been used for dynamic update. However, it is difficult to apply update technique for a commodity operating system kernel because development and maintenance of update code must be performed with assembly language. To overcome this difficulty, we design the function-granularity dynamic update system which uses high-level language such as C language. The proposed update system makes the development and execution of update convenient by providing the development environment for update code which is same for kernel development. We implement this system for Linux and demonstrate an example of update for EXT3 file system. The update was successfully executed.

  • We live in the modern society which is called as Knowledge-Information society. The national and social goal is to raise the creative person for preparing the rapidly changing society. Thus, the schools and families concentrate on and effort to enhance the creativity and problem solving ability. Specially, the school is pushing forward the STEAM education and Software education for raising the creativity person and enhancement of national competitiveness. In this study, we suggested for STEAM education the way how we utilize the App Inventor which was supported by MIT and came up as a computer programming language for Software education, and we verified and evaluated through professional group verification. We completed STEAM instructional design according to the results from the professional group verification, and we suggested the authentic instruction for STEAM education. In addition, we suggested the further prospects of Software education and instructions through going through the characteristics and application plan of App Inventer in terms of educational computer programming language.

  • This paper proposes a web-based adaptive tutoring system based on fuzzy set that provides learning materials and questions dynamically according to students' knowledge state, and gives advices for the learning after an evaluation. For this, we design a courseware knowledge structure systematically and then construct a fuzzy level set on the basis of it considering importance of learning targets, difficulty of learning materials and relation degree between learning targets and learning materials. Using the fuzzy level set, our system offers learning materials and questions to adapt to individual students. Moreover, a result of the test is evaluated with fuzzy linguistic variable. Appling the fuzzy concept to the tutoring system could naturally consider and deal with various and uncertain items of learning environment thus could offer more flexible and effective instruction-learning methods.

  • In the flow state, people are absorbed in their activities, while irrelevant thoughts and perceptions are screened out. In Csikszentmihalyi's view, the term 'flow' is used in describing the best feeling in human lives. Flow has been conceptualized as an optimal experience that stems from people's perception on challenges and skills in a given situation. We can easily observe that students who are learning from WBI experience flow state occasionally. If we identify the related factors that make flow experiences possible in WBI, the designers and instructors of WBI might be greatly benefitted by having ideas of how to provide optimal flow experiences to their students. In this article, we attempted to analyze what are critical Flow factors in WBI and provided guidelines on how to design optimal flow experiences in WBI.

  • The purpose of this study was to help elementary teachers to design systems for small group study to improve the efficiency of both teaching and learning in science education. This was done by examining how teachers form and manage a small group study, and by observing students' perceptions regarding small group study. For this study, an in-depth interview was conducted with 8 elementary teachers and 8 sixth grade elementary students chosen according to their levels of class participation and scientific achievement. The results showed that although elementary teachers preferred a group of 4 students, 6 students were randomly picked to form a group due to the physical aspects of the educational environment in most of the cases examined. It was also found that when the small group was composed of students with different personalities rather than according to their level of achievement, this better encouraged research activities and fostered scientific attitudes as compared to educating solely for the transference of scientific knowledge. On the elementary students' part, a change of perception on their new role and skills of interaction was also required. Elementary students preferred to compose small groups so that they resembled a group of close friends, and from their perspective, small group study was useful, interesting, time efficient, and helpful to each other in studying science.

  • The benefits in using controlled delivery approaches include improved pharmacokinetic response, greater ability to localize the drung adjacent to the disease, and more control of local concentration at a lower total dosage. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Minocline strip on chronic marginal periodontitis. Minocline Strip was applied in the periodontal pocket of 94 patients with a clinically diagnosed as a chronic marginal periodontitis, 4 sites for each patients with a 5mm probing pocket depth were selected in split mouth design and were divided into two group, ie., placebo group ($C_1$, $C_2$) and experimental group ($E_1$, $E_2$). Supragingival scaling and oral hygiene instruction were performed 1 week before experiment. Minocline Strip was applied on day 0 and 7, weekly, Clinical and microbiological tests were performed on day 0, 7, 14, 28 and 42. The results were as follows ; 1. Minocline Strip showed significant improvement on Chronic Marginal Periodontitis in 77 patients (82.0%) and improvement rate was more than 66.7% of all investigational items. 2. Only 6 patients complained mild pruritis during the early therapy but not needed discontinuence of the therapy. 3. The availability of Minocline Strip was 72 patients (76.6%) synthetically evaluating efficacy and safety. In conclusion, Minocline Strip appears to be effective and safe for the treatment of Chronic Marginal Periodontitis.

  • This paper proposes a dispatch unit of GP-GPU with SIMT architecture to support the acceleration of general-purpose operation as well as graphics processing. If all the information of an operand used instructions issued from the warp scheduler is decoded, an unnecessary operand load occurs, resulting in register loads. To resolve this problem, this paper proposes a method that can reduce the operand load and the load on the resister by decoding only the information of the operand using a pre-decoding method. The operand information from the dispatch unit is passed to the operand selection unit with preventing register bank collisions. Thus the overall performance are improved. In the simulation test, the total clock cycles required by processing 10,000 arbitrary instructions issued from the wrap scheduler using ModelSim SE 10.0b are measured. It shows that the application of the dispatch unit equipped with the pre-decoding function proposed in this paper can make an improvement of about 12% in processing performance compared to the conventional method.
