Microalgal bioremediation of CO2, nutrients, endocrine disruptors, hydrocarbons, pesticides, and cyanide compounds have evaluated comprehensively. Microalgal mitigation of nutrients originated from municipal wastewaters, surface waters, and livestock wastewaters has shown great applicability. Algal utilization on secondary and tertiary treatment processes might provide unique and elegant solution on the removing of substances originated from various sources. Microalgae have displayed 3 growth regimes (autotrophic, heterotrophic, and mixotrophic) through which different organic and inorganic substances are being utilized for growth and production of different metabolites. There are still some technology challenges requiring innovative solutions. Strain selection investigation should be directed towards identification of algal that are extremophiles. Understanding and manipulation of metabolic pathways of algae will possible unfold solution to utilization of algae for mitigation of dissolve organic nitrogen in wastewaters.
Chlorination of wastewater is recently practiced in Korea. While many researchers have studied the kinetics of aqueous chlorine(HOCl) with nitrogeneous compounds and other organic/inorganic contaminants in drinking water, the researches of wastewater chlorination are relatively few. The purpose of this study was to investigate the chlorine decay kinetics and parameters on wastewater chlorination. Chlorine decay rate increased with increasing initial chlorine concentration. The parameters affecting chlorine decay rate were different in each wastewater treatment plant. One of the most important parameters affecting chlorine decay was initial chlorine concentration, and other parameters such as $NH_3-N$, total coliform, $UV_{254}$ and Fe were also affected. The decay ratio of chlorine was decreased with increasing initial chlorine concentration, and the disinfection efficiency showed good correlation with the decay ratio.
In order to study the mechanism of biosynthesis of thyroid hormones, radioactive iodine was injected into the rats and thyroid glands were removed. Iodine compounds hydrolyzed by pancreatin viokase were separated by paper chromatography and analyzed by radioautography. Radioautograms showed that the uptake of iodine starts immediately and forms diiodotyrosine through monoiodotyrosine. Evidence supported the possibility that diiodotyrosine is a precursor of thyrosine and triiodothyronine is a degradation product of thyroxine. The rat administered propylthiouracil showed inorganic iodine concentration activity, while the binding activity was prevented.

The sonolytic decomposition of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC 113) and several alternative compounds, such as HCFC 225ca, HCFC 225cb, and HFC 134a, in.aqueous solutions was investigated. The CFC 113 with a high volatility and a low solubility in water was rapidly decomposed with increasing sonication time. The decomposition rates were influenced by the initial concentration of CFC 113, the reaction temperature, and the gas/liquid phase volume ratio but were independant of the pH of solution. The predominant pathway of the decomposition of CFC 113 by sonication was not the oxidation by OH radicals but the pyrolysis with high temperature and pressure inside of the cavitation bubble. The pyrolysis in the cavitation bubble resulted in an almost complete mineralization of CFC 113 with the high efficient formation of inorganic products (Cl$^{[-10]}$ , F$^{[-10]}$ , CO, $CO_2$). The addition of zinc powder on the decomposition of CFC 113 by sonication caused an acceleration of the decomposition. Also, HCFCs and HFC 134a were found to be readily decomposed by the pyrolysis induced from the sonication.

New five N-acyl-N-methyl taurate and their sodium salts were synthesized by acylating sodium N-methyl taurate in water in the presense of inorganic alkali as a catalyst. Wherein acyl group is a straight-chain radical of 10 to 18 carbon atoms. These compounds were identified by infrared spectroscopy. Surface activities of these sodium N-acyl-N-methyl taurate including surface tension, Ross-Miles foaming powers, foam stabilities, emulsifying powers and detergency were measured respectively. Also critical micelle concentration(cmc) were evaluated. Consequently these anionic surfactants with long chain acyl amine showed good emulsifying power of O/W type and had a good detergence.

We have extracted the natural pine-needles to use ethanol in solvent, and could obtain the refined oil component from pine-needles extract. We have tested the antimicrobial effect from microbe experiment and analyzed with ICP/OES, GC/MS. we could obtain the next conclusion from the result of this experiment. In the first result of this experiment we could know that in case of increasing concentration of pine-needles, the number of microbe decreased more and more. Also we could know that the refined oil component of pine-needles appeared the sterilization effect of S-aureus and E-coli after 96hrs and 120hrs. So we could know that the refined oil component of appeared effect to microbe. In the second result of this experiment we could know that inorganic materials of Ca, Mg, V, Mn etcs from pine-needles detected to ICP/OES analysis and the aromatic compounds from refined oil component of pine-needles was certificated to GC/MS analysis.
The aim of this study is, firstly, to find out what kinds of inorganic species are produced in the photocatalytic oxidation of ammonium-nitrogen containing water and, secondly, to seek the influence of anion for the photocatalytic oxidation of ammonium contained compounds. The photoenergy above 3 eV(λ <415 nm) was effectively absorbed by TiO$_2$ and TiO$_2$/polymer was used to be oxidized NH$_4$-N in wastewater to NO$_3$-N. Existing the anion as Cl$\^$-/, the rate of photocatalytic oxidation decreased regardless of other condition. This result showed that the chloride ions reduced the rate of oxidation by scavenging oxidizing radical species as OH$\^$-/ and OCl$\^$-/. Some of the added ion might have blocked the active sites of the catalyst surface, thus deactivated the catalyst.

Over the years manufactures have become increasingly aware of the importance of water purity and its effect on the quality of the final product. One of the largest problems that confronts pure water system operators is bacterial recontamination shortly after the water purification equipment. There are several recommended methods of either preventing or recommended methods of either preventing or removing such contamination but most have inherent disadvantages. Drinking water has required new treatment techniques such as ozonation and granular activated carbon(GAC) filtration. Ozone is known to be a powerful oxidant and disinfectant. Therefore it has been found to be necessary for the treatment of taste, odor and color as an oxidant of inorganic and organic compounds.
White birch bark is being called baekhwapi usually and is used urination, travail, removal of fever in Oriental medicine. Betulin had been known as main chemistry ingredient of white birch bark. So, in an experiment that see betulin and connection inorganic compounds separation and enforced to recognize antioxidative activity and anti HIV. Betulin's yield separated vast quantity for the first time in Korea by 6.9%, and 3,4-dihydrobenzoic acid in ethylacetate soluble as experiment result. Wish to utilize betulin connection derivative as each kind experiment sample ore because do composition making since.
Biopolymer-based materials recently have garnered considerable interest as they can decrease dependency on fossil fuel. Biopolymers are naturally obtainable macromolecules including polysaccharides, polyphenols, polyesters, polyamides, and proteins, that play an important role in biomedical applications such as tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, drug-delivery systems, and biosensors, because of their inherent biocompatibility and biodegradability. However, the insolubility of unmodified biopolymers in most organic solvents has limited the applications of biopolymer-based materials and composites. Ionic liquids (ILs) are good solvents for polar organic, nonpolar organic, inorganic and polymeric compounds. Biopolymers such as cellulose, chitin/chitiosan, silk, and DNA can be fabricated from ILs into films, membranes, fibers, spheres, and molded shapes. Various biopolymer/biopolymer and biopolymer/synthetic polymer composites also can be prepared by co-dissolution of polymers into IL mixtures. Heparin/biopolymer composites are especially of interest in preparing materials with enhanced blood compatibility.
