  • In this paper, we study the methodology to improve productivity and transportation efficiency simultaneously in the manufacturing environment of injection plants which has multiple injection machines arranged in parallel. In general, the post-processes such as finishing are continuously arranged in the injection machine located in the lower level of the injection plants, and one or two workers in charge of post-processing are always arranged. Therefore injection plants have low productivity due to post-processing and the front of the injection machine is very crowded due to various logistics flows. In this paper, we propose the designing methodology of conveyor structure for integrating the post-processes arranged at each injection machine and transporting the injection products to the integrated post-process automatically. Specifically, we propose the models for computing the number of conveyor units into the integrated processes, and for finding the optimal combinations to connect each machines and the conveyors. The proposed model is for the total productivity improvement, which are productivity and transportation efficiency. By applying the proposed model to companies that produce injection parts used for the home appliances, we verify the applicability and the effect of improving productivity and transportation efficiency, which more than 40%.

  • The penalty method has been widely applied to analyses of incompressible fluid flow. However, we have not yet found any prior studies that employed penalty method to analyze compressible fluid flow. In this study, with an eye on the apparent similarity between the slight compressible formulation and the penalty formulation, we have proposed a new approximate approach that can analyze compressible packing process using the penalty parameter l. Based on the assumption of the isothermal flow, a set of reference solutions was obtained to verify the validity of the proposed scheme. Furthermore, we have applied the proposed scheme to the analysis of the packing process of different cases.

  • The first thing in developing injection molding and extrusion with microcellular foaming process is to get a grip on one phase state's rheology of gas and polymer solution. Understanding rheology is essential to design mold or die. and it is so important to control the condition of process. Also, this data is got the utmost out of simulation carrying out. In this paper, we will see the measurement of rheology in one phase that mixed polypropylene which contains talc with carbon dioxide of super critical fluid state, and will compare its result with the simulation result.

  • In this study, manufacturing of polymer master and mold insert for micro injection molding was investigated. Ablation by excimer laser radiation could be used successfully to make 3-D microstructure of PET. The mechanism for ablative decomposition of PET with KrF excimer laser(λ: 248nm, pulse duration: 5ns) was explained by photochemical process. And this process showed PET to be adopted in polymer master for nickel mold insert. Nickel electroforming by using laser ablated PET master was preferable for replication method. Finally, it was shown that excimer laser ablation can substitute for X-ray lithography of LIGA process in microstructuring.

  • A new PIM in-process joining technique has been developed for more complicated and functional PIM components by application of the exuded wax from the green compacts during solvent debinding step. At first, various stainless steels and iron compacts with rectangular shape were combined, and the joining behaviors and properties were investigated by shear and tensile test, and microscopic observation. Subsequently, perfect joined three pieces of thin and hollow compacts were obtained for the combination of same and different stainless steels, and it was difficult to join the iron and stainless steel compacts in hydrogen atmosphere because of the different starting temperature of shrinkage. However, pretty good joined iron and stainless steel compacts were obtained by consideration of particle size and vacuum atmosphere. Finally, for the combination of ferro-silicon and austenitic stainless steel compacts, high functionality (magnetic (1.60Tes1a) & non-magnetic) and perfect joint were obtained.

  • A method for improving the warpage of the plastic part is a method of removing residual stress of the plastic product. that a non-uniform cooling are appeared in the injection molding process make uniform cooling. this study was developed the Rapid heating and cooling device used peltier module for uniform cooling. Make the Rapid heating and cooling device(RCHD), for Traditional water cooling device(TWCD) method and the Rapid heating and cooling method warpage were compared and were analyzed and the materials used amorphous ABS polymer. various warpage were compared for the process parameters such as packing pressure, packing time, resin temperature, mold temperature, In the amorphous ABS polymer, TWCD method has higher warpage than RCHD method and show the result to be a bit more uniform cooling. The distribution state of the ABS polymer was confirmed Through the Scanning electron microscope. In the TWCD method the distribution state of the polymer be densely distributed, and RCHS method be distributed wider than TWCD method. this is that injection molded parts be seen that cooling was made uniformly, As the temperature of the mold is gradually progress, Particles of the polymer is increased this is that internal stress was reduced.

  • This study introduces an optimization methodology for the determination of gate location that ensures the melt flow balance within a part cavity of injection mold. A new sequential direct-search scheme based on the recursive reduction of the designer-specified gate design area is developed, and it is integrated with a commercial flow simulation tool for optimization. To quantify the level of melt flow balance, we employ the maximum difference among the fill times for the melt fronts to reach the boundary elements of part cavity as objective function. The proposed methodology is successfully applied in the case study of melt flow balancing in molding of a bar code scanner model. The result shows that the melt flow balance at the optimized gate positions is significantly improved from that for the initial gate position.

  • LCD-BLU (Back Light Unit) is one of kernel parts of LCD unit. The fabrication method of a 3-D micro mold patterned with micro-lenses for the LGP (Light Guiding Plate), one of the most important parts of LCD-BLU, was presented. Instead of dot pattern made by etching, 3-D optical pattern design with $50{\mu}m$ micro-lens was applied in the present study. The micro-lens pattern fabricated by modified LiGA with thermal reflow process was applied to the optical design of LGP. The positive micro-lens patterned injection mold with different aspect ratios (i.e. 0.3 and 0.4) was fabricated with modified LiGA with thermal reflow process. The brightness of LCD-BLU increased as aspect ratio of micro-lens increased.

  • A friction hinge system which moves without power was designed and developed using the principle of friction force, which is caused by interference between the inner diameter of a silicon cap and the outer diameter of a cylindrical roller bearing with one-way rotation in a counterclockwise direction. The system was applied to the lid of buffet ware, which moved up by external force and moved down by gravitational force. However, design conditions which included a rotation angle of the hinge of more than 80 degrees and a closing time of more than 20 seconds were required when the lid of the buffet ware closed due to gravitational force. The design safety of the friction hinge body connected to the lid of the buffet ware from the hinge system was checked on the basis of structural, fatigue and thermal analyses. The material of the shaft, cap and flange among the hinge elements was changed to polyethylene from steel to reduce the weight of the friction hinge system. An injection molding simulation was performed and injection molds of the shaft, cap and flange were created. The weight of the hinge system was decreased from 805g to 219g.
