  • This study showed that on-site ferrate(VI) solution was synthesized by wet oxidation method and applied aqueous 2,4-dichlorophenol(DCP) solution to evaluate the degradation efficiency. On-site ferrate(VI) solution was synthesized by putting $FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$ in the strong alkali solution with NaClO and NaOH and applied DCP solution directly. DCP solution was extracted by the liquid-liquid method and analyzed by GC-ECD. The factors such as pH, DCP initial concentration, injected ferrate(VI) dosage, temperature were investigated. The optimum pH and temperature conditions of DCP degradation were obtained in neutral condition and $35^{\circ}C$. And the experimental results showed that DCP removal efficiency also increased with the decrease of DCP initial condition and the injected ferrate(VI) dosage.

  • This study aims to determine the optimal solution to transportation problems. We proposed a novel approach for tackling the initial basic feasible solution. This is a critical step toward achieving an optimal or near-optimal solution. The transportation issue is an issue of distributing goods from several sources to several destinations. The literature demonstrates many ways to improve IBFS. In this work, to solve the IBFS, we suggested a new method based on the statistical formula called cumulative distribution function (CDF) in exponential distribution, and inverse contra-harmonic mean (ICHM). The spreadsheet converts transportation cost values into exponential cost cell values. The stepping-stone method is used to identify an optimum solution. The results are compared with other existing methodologies, the suggested method incorporates balanced, and unbalanced, maximizing the profits, random values, and case studies which produce more effective outcomes.

  • In this paper a new numerical method to determine the elastic curve of the simply supported beams of variable cross-section is demonstrated. In general case it needs to solve linear or small nonlinear second order differential equations with prescribed boundary conditions. For numerical solution the initial values of the slope and the deflection of the end cross-section of the beam is necessary. For obtaining the initial values a lively procedure is developed: it is a special application of the shooting method because boundary value problems can be transformed into initial value problems. As a result of these transformations the initial values of the differential equations are obtained with high accuracy. Procedure is applied for calculating of elastic curve of a simply supported beam of variable cross-section. Results of these numerical procedures, analytical solution of the linearized version and finite element method are compared. It is proved that the suggested procedure yields technically accurate results.

  • Explicit solutions of the wave dispersion equation are developed using the recursive relation in terms of the relative water depth. We use the solutions of Eckart (1951), Hunt (1979), and the deep-water and shallow-water solutions for initial values of the solution. All the recursive solutions converge to the exact one except that with the initial value of deep-water solution. The solution with the initial value by Hunt converged much faster than the others. The recursive solutions may be obtained quickly and simply by a hand calculator. For the transformation of linear water waves in whole water depth, the use of the recursive solutions will yield more accurate analytical solutions than use of previously developed explicit solutions.

  • This study was conducted to develop a technology for raising seedlings hydroponically using the bed in which the seedlings grew in nutrient solution without soil. In order to establish the optimum EC value of nutrient solution, six initial EC values (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 dS/m and control) of Yoshida's hydroponic solution were examined. Seedling height and dry weight increased with increasing below EC up to 3.0 dS/m, but showed no significant increase at higher than EC 3.0 dS/m. Nutrient solution with initial EC of 3.0 dS/m was good to be dropped down nearly to 1 dS/m after 15-day seedling culture. But those with initial EC of 4.0 and 5.0 dS/m were judged not appropriate because of high EC value in waste nutrient solution. Utilization efficiency of minerals of nutrient solution and rice endosperm was higher on the whole at initial EC of 2.0-3.0 dS/m. Considering seedling growth and utilization efficiency of supplied nutrient solution, initial EC is judged to be suitable at 3.0 dS/m.

  • The primary aim of the paper is to solve an unstable axisymmetric initial value problem of wave propagation when given initial data that is deteriorated by noise such as measurement error. To overcome the instability of the problem, Tikhonov's regularization, known as a non-iterative numerical regularization method, is introduced to solve the problem. The L-curvecriterion is introduced to find the optimal regularization parameter for the solution. It is confirmed that fairly stable solutions are realized and that they are accurate when compared to the exact solution.

  • In the CFD area, the numerical analysis of high Mach number flow over a blunt-body poses many issues. Various numerical schemes have been developed to cover the issues, but the traditional schemes are still used widely due to the complexities of new schemes and intricacy of modifying the established codes. In the present study, the well-known Roe's FDS based on TVD-MUSCL scheme is used for the solution of very high Mach number three-dimensional flows posing carbuncle and non-physical phenomena in numerical analysis. A parametric study was carried out to account for the effects of the entropy fixing, grid configurations and initial condition. The carbuncle phenomena could be easily overcome by the entropy fixing, and the non-physical solution could be eliminated by the use of the modified initial condition regardless of entropy fixing and grid configurations.

  • The timetabling problem is a one of the optimization problem for satisfied a constraints. Most optimization algorithm arrives optimal to use a method that is make a initial solution and modify and reconstruct it repetitively. In case of insufficient resources, it is not easy to obtain initial solution oneself. The most method of make a initial solution is high constrained subject assign first. The freedom rate is a numerical value of degree of how much constrained. In this paper, we define the freedom rate in timetabling problem and experiment its role in timetabling process.

  • Several effects on Pb$^{2+}$ removal by crab shell from aqueous solution were investigated. As the increase of initial Pb$^{2+}$ concentration and decrease of initial crab shell concentration, the time required to reach an equilibrium state and the residual Pb$^{2+}$ concentration increased. In our experimental ranges, the optimum initial Pb$^{2+}$ concentration and crab shell concentration were below 103 mg/$\ell$ and over 0.5 mg/$\ell$, respectively. Also, in order to investigate the mechanism of Pb$^{2+}$ removal by crab shell in aqueous solution, the crab shell was compared with chitosan and chitin on aspects of Pb$^{2+}$ removal capacity and Pb$^{2+}$ removal rate. The Pb$^{2+}$ removal by crab shell was greater than that by chitin and chitosan. The role of chitin was not so great in Pb$^{2+}$ removal by crab shell. The Pb$^{2+}$ removal by chitosan was not exactly correlated to the molecular weight of chitosan. weight of chitosan.

  • The degradation characteristics of 2-chlorophenol(2-CP) by Ferrate(VI) were studied. The degradation efficiency of 2-CP in aqueous solution was investigated at various values of pH, Fe(VI) dosage, initial concentration and aqueous solution temperature. The maximum degradation efficiencies of 2-CP were obtained at pH 7.0 and aqueous solution temperature of 25$^{\circ}C$. The degradation efficiency was proportional to dosage of Fe(VI). Also, the initial rate constant of 2-CP degradation increased with decreasing of the 2-CP initial concentration. In addition, the degradation pathway study for 2-CP was conducted with GC-MS analysis. Acetic acid, formic acid, benzaldehyde and benzoic acid were identified as reaction intermediates of the 2-CP degradation by Ferrate(VI).
