A novel controller design is presented for the recently proposed electric springs (ESs). The dynamic modeling is analyzed first, and the initial Bode diagram is derived from the s-domain transfer function in the open loop. The design objective is set according to the characteristics of a minimum phase system. Step-by-step optimizations of the Bode diagram are provided to illustrate the proposed controller, the design of which is different from the classical multistage leading/lagging design. The final controller is the accumulation of the transfer function at each step. With the controller and the recently proposed δ control, the critical load voltage can be regulated to follow the desired waveform precisely while the fluctuations and distortions of the input voltage are passed to the non-critical loads. Frequency responses at any point can be modified in the Bode diagram. The results of the modeling and controller design are validated via simulations. Hardware and software designs are provided. A digital phase locked loop is realized with the platform of a digital signal processor. The effectiveness of the proposed control is also validated by experimental results.

The projects are becoming more complicated and amplified as the design and development technology is advancing. Thus, existing architectural processes and methods are revealing limitations. The technology of BIM is an IT applied to construction, that provides the state-of-the-art tools to overcome these limitations to improve on architectural designing, technology, cost, etc. Therefore, it it necessary to converge the advises and collaboration from the various experts at the initial step in a common processing platform. In this research project with Korean Education Development Institute, configuration and utilization of EDU BIM template is studied because setting an anchor point from the initial phase is necessary for such processes at the perspective of the operator. The purpose of this study is to prevent time consumptions at the initial phase of BIM foundation, to ensure accurate information inputs within the repetitive tasks, and for effective information management that will produce consistent results through utilization of BIM technology.

A robust optimal design considering fabrication influence has been performed for the decoupled vibratory microgyroscope fabricated by the bulk micromachining. For the analysis of the gyroscope, a design tool has been developed, by which user can perform the system level design considering electric signal process and the fabrication influence as well as mechanical characteristics. An initial design of the gyroscope is performed satisfying the performances of scale factor (or sensitivity) and phase delay, which depend on the frequency difference between driving and sensing resonant frequencies. The objective functions are formulated in order to reduce the variances of the frequency difference and the frequency in itself by fabrication error. To certify the results, the standard deviations are calculated through the Monte Caries Simulation (MCS) and compared initial deviation that is measured fabricated gyroscope chip.

This paper introduces novel a two-phase permanent magnet BLDC (PMBLDC) motor with both an asymmetric tooth and an auxiliary tooth in order to improve the dead point, efficiency and torque ripple. To calculate the merits of introducing each of the asymmetric tooth and the auxiliary tooth, characteristic analysis is performed respectively using finite element method (FEM). To maximize performance, we propose a novel model which combines the asymmetric tooth and the auxiliary tooth. To maximize the efficiency of the novel model, an optimal design is processed using the Kriging method and a genetic algorithm. Finally, an experiment is used to confirm the initial and optimal design results.

Single-phase, brushless DC (BLDC) motors have unequal air-gaps to eliminate the dead-point where the developed torque is zero. Unfortunately, these unequal air-gaps can deteriorate the motor characteristics in the cogging torque. This paper proposes a novel design for a single-phase BLDC motor with an asymmetric notch to solve this problem. In the design method, the asymmetric notches were placed on the stator pole face, which affects the change in permanent magnet shape or the residual flux density of the permanent magnet. Parametric analysis was performed to determine the optimal size and position of the asymmetric notch to reduce the cogging torque. Finite element analysis (FEA) was used to calculate the cogging torque. A more than 28% lower cogging torque compared to the initial model with no notch was achieved.

Two phase simulated annealing algorithm is presented as a structural optimization technique and applied to minimum weight design of space trusses subjected to stress and displacement constraints under multiple loading conditions. Univariate searching algorithm is adopted for automatic selection of initial values of design variables for SA algorithm. The proper values of cooling factors and reasonable stopping criteria for optimum design of space truss structures are proposed to enhance the performance of optimization process. Optimum weights and design solutions are presented for two well-blown example structures and compared with those reported in the literature.

This study aims to find out how architectural designers applied the design process and what content is applied in the practical process of architectural design in Korea, and to improve it if there is a problem. So the study is carried out by investigating 13 architects(Including one person who wants to keep his work private) with extensive experience in architectural design. The architects were questioned on how and what content the design process was used for their representative works that had been designed. And interviews and field surveys were conducted on other matters to be improved. The survey was conducted from November 2021 to July 2022. According to the conclusion of this study, First, Most architects were applying the design process in the architectural design practice. These are caused by an impact on education, but there was also an aspect of preparation in terms of guidelines such as the Architects Association and storage rights. Second, Although the design process differed in each name and phase, it was generally carried out in the order of the start phase, the planning work phase, the basic design phase, the intermediate design phase, the implementation quarterly, and construction. Third, The step-by-step work of the design process differed slightly depending on the architect, but counseling and contract work were mainly performed at the start-up phase, and field surveys, legal investigations, and case studys were conducted at the planning phase. In the basic design phase, some contents related to architectural programming, basic drawings, images, and models were used as main work contents. In the intermediate design phase, secondary contents such as licensed books and facility facilities were the main tasks. In the implementation design phase, detailed maps and various frost facilities were finally inspected. Since then, construction and supervision have been carried out in the order of progress. Forth, As for the contents to be improved in the future, the architect's ability, the designer's knowledge of the overall architecture, the design supervision system, and the expansion of time for the initial design process were answered.
In order to ensure a certain level of the quality of design, standardized evaluation indicators are being used as an objective criterion. Even though the evaluation indicators are quantifiable, limitations such as inefficiency and inconsistency caused by manual task in the evaluation process still have been found. BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology that is commonly adopted in architectural design process provides an environment which enables us to figure out a building model to be interpreted quantitatively with the basis of the building information model. It supports quantitative, consistent, accurate and quick evaluations so as to improve quality of design even in the initial design phase. This paper aims to establish BIM-enabled quantitative indicators and an evaluation framework to analyze building circulation even in early phase of design. The indicators are composed of 4 types (relative distance, accessibility, simplicity, pedestrian friendliness) and 7 sub-types. The evaluation framework is the process to derive Parameterized Path Value (PPV) as weighting on each indicator. For demonstrating the scalability of the suggested evaluation indicators and the framework, the authors implemented an evaluation tool and a case study has been carried out by using an actual building remodel project.

This paper deals with dynamic modeling and controller design of a future Korean lunar module planned to be launched 2020's in Korea. For dynamic modeling of the lunar module, we first assume the lunar module as a rigid body. And we derive equations of motion for the lunar module by considering allocation of main thrusters and reaction thrusters. With the equation of motion, we design the controller based on the quaternion. A Pulse Width Pulse Frequency modulator(PWPFM) is selected for generating on/off signal. Finally, we construct a 2-phase descent mode including initial guidance mode, terminal guidance mode. The MATLAB simulation is performed for evaluating the descent ability and final landing velocity. The dynamic modeling and descent simulation of the lunar module in this paper could be applied for developing the future work of the Korean lunar exploration program.

Highway have to be constructed under thorough investigation about function, economy, safety of the traffic and environment, because they are needing huge budget for construction and management as important facilities of the social overhead capital in the national economics. Initially the construction of roads becomes effective the plan, the design, construction phase. The design is foundation of accomplishment of the roads operation, the results of the design operation come to much effect a nation when using roads. Especially ancient design methods were not expected for visual effects as attaching weight to 2-dimensional drawing from flat. Therefore, it is difficult to recognize troubles happened during the work operation besides, many troubles are solved by modification of drawings as situations. For solving of those of the problems, it is emphasize on visual effect through introduction of 3-dimensional design from the initial phase. In case of national conditions, limited national land has caused increasing weight for construction of the roads through cities as the urban centered development. thereupon, citizens are increasing concern about the right of the light and the environmental effect, road designs and construction of the structures under agreement with local residents cause to make troubles. The analysis of 3-dimensional design is necessary as intermediation for decision making. In this study, Virtual reality techniques in 3-dimensional roads design are expected to visual effect on the publishing Internet Web, find problems in first phase and make decision between users and people having civil appeal.
