  • User Education is one of the main activities among the traditional library services. Nowadays information technology has brought drastic changes into in the libraries, especially in the types of information sources, information users' behavior and the user education programs. The users need to know new information skills to retrieve the adequate information they need, and consequently libraries should develop new instruction programs to meet the user needs according to the radical changes of information technology and daily increasing electronic Information sources including internet resources. In this paper it was researched how to use the library websites for information instruction at the university libraries in Korea, USA and Canada through literature and by visiting the websites of the university libraries. It was found that Korean university libraries focus on providing the physical access to information, while American and Canadian university libraries focus on providing the intellectual access to information as well as the physical access to information. Most Korean university libraries have the entries about library history, library services and collection, outside networked information sources on the menu of their homepages, while there are guides how to use information sources such as subject bibliographies, reference tools, network resource tools, and guides how to write a paper, and information for user instruction on the websites of the western university libraries. It is very promising to make full use of the library webpages for library user education, which nowadays provide very powerful communication interface and make the library users find appealing and accessible.

  • The functional testing of microprocessor comes to be time - consuming task with the progress of technology of LSl/VLSl . In this paper, we present an efficient method to test instruction decoding function of MC 68000 that is the reason of complicated functional testing. This method is based on the analysis of operation word that is instruction dccoding information available to user with microprocessor's manual. Thc instruction is partitioned into representative instructions and party instructions. Then 332 minimum test instruction pairs are chosen from 69 basic instructions for detecting of instruction decoding function faults and test procedure for these is discussed.

  • In this paper, we design and implement a two-way search algorithm that can provide a customized service through the user with real-time two-way communication using a mobile instant messaging service. Therefore, we design and implement the automative search system which enables delivering message to each user mobile terminal from a plurality of relay mobile terminals by utilizing the mobile instant messenger, not to deliver a message from the main server to the mobile instant messenger user directly. Two-way search system using the mobile instant messenger can be immediately collect the user's response is easy to identify the orientation of each user, and thus can be provided to establish a differentiated service plan. Also, It provides a number of services(text, photos, videos, etc) in real-time information to the user by utilizing the mobile instant messenger service without the need to install a separate application. Experiment results, data processing speed of the category processing way to search for the data of the DB server from a user mobile terminal is about 7.06sec, data processing number per minute is about 13 times. The data processing speed of the instruction processing way is about 3.10sec, data processing number per minute is about 10 times. The data processing speed of the natural language processing way is about 5.13sec, per data processing number per minute is about 7 times. Therefore in category processing way, command processing way and natural language processing way, instruction processing way is the most excellent in aspect of data processing speed, otherwise in aspect of per data processing number per minute, the category processing way is the best method.

  • This study investigated the current state of online subject guides in Korean academic libraries and suggests improvement. Through the examination of 100 academic libraries' Web sites, only 14 online subject guides were identified, showing that the development of online subjects guides in Korea is still in infancy. The examined online subject guides were evaluated as high quality in terms of accessibility, integration of information resources, and format consistency, but low quality in the provision of specialized subjects, user instruction, and information retrieval systems. An online subject guide should be a one-stop service that provides fast access to information resources along with subject-specialized user instruction and effective communication with librarians.

  • This is an exploratory study targeting initial users to evaluate the usability of an aggregator-supplied full-text database and to analyze the differences in task performance and perceptions based on participant characteristics. The differences in completion time and perceptions on ease of use, terminology, subject categories and satisfaction were analyzed based on the participant characteristics such as Kolb learning style, gender and participation in user instruction on full-text databases. The results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference in completion time based on the Kolb learning style. Also a statistically significant difference was found in perceptions on ease of use and terminology based on gender. However no statistically significant difference was found in perceptions on the usability of the database based on the participation in user instruction.

  • The aim of this study is providing basic data to design successful in-service training program for teacher librarians by analyzing their preference on subjects of customized intensive programs for indicators of teacher expertise development. According to the survey, teacher librarians seem to regard training subjects such as Reading Education and Information Literacy Instruction related educational information services as core jobs and prefer developing instructional contents and materials. Under the levels of school it seems that teacher librarians in the elementary school are interested in programs for library activation, management of volunteers, analyses of users' needs and curricula, evaluations of user instruction and information literacy instruction. Older teacher librarians favor an understanding of metadata, building and supporting information system and instruction. Therefore, training subjects for teacher librarians should be formed by linking strategies between school library instruction and subject curricula. And in terms of the method of training, case studies and practical training might be better than lectures based on the theory.

  • This research is a study designed to identify the needs for information literacy instruction for the U.S. public library Internet service users. The levels and needs of Internet service users as well as the development and effectiveness of the Internet services at the U.S. public libraries were investigated. The survey was administered to the Internet service users at four public libraries in the upper Midwest region of the U.S.A total of 386 surveys were collected and analyzed. The result showed that as the years of Internet use experience and the level of expertise increases, user satisfaction decreases. However, the users who had taken any Internet class showed more satisfaction than who had not. This research offers a new direction and need for information literacy instruction for public library Internet service users.

  • In this paper, we propose a new addressing mode, which can be used for programmable image processor to perform image- processing algorithms effectively. Conventional addressing modes are suitable for one-dimensional data processing such as voice, but the proposed addressing mode consider two-dimensional characteristics of image data. The proposed instruction for two-dimensional addressing requires two operands to specify a pixel and doesn't require any change of memory architecture. Combining several instructions to load a pixel-data from an external memory to a register, the proposed instruction reduces code size so that satisfy hish performance and low power requirements of image processor. In addition, it uses inherent two-dimensional characteristics of image data and offers user-friendly instruction to assembler programmer.

  • This study reports a case where some university libraries played a major role in opening and educating information literacy Instruction as a general liberal arts course. The librarian of the university library, who was also the speaker of this study, participated in the overall operation, including the conducting of two classes lectures during the second semester as a professor. It also analyzed a survey of 43 students from 27 departments in the first semester of 2019 and 44 from 25 departments in the second semester to assess the pre- and post-education effects on the courses. As a result, statistically significant values were obtained in both semesters. This study, which aimed at providing materials for librarians at university libraries raises the need for liberal arts education that integrates information and media literacy, is expected to provide various implications for improving information literacy instruction programs in the future.
