Comparison of Statistical Experiments and Measures of Information

  • The comparison of statistical experiments with a common parameter and parameter space is discussed using the concept of the Blackwell's sufficiency and the Shannon's entropy. Binomial and censored experiments are considered as applications. The loss of information is studied under teh aggregated experiments and truncated experiments, and summerized in some tables which make it possible to indicate the choice of an appropriate experiment.

인터넷 상에서의 H.264 비디오 전송을 위한 패킷 손실 복원에 관한 연구 (Packet Loss Recovery for H.264 Video Transmission Over the Interne)

  • 본 논문은 인터넷에서 실시간 비디오 전송을 위하여 패킷 손실을 복원하기 위한 알고리즘을 제안한다. 인터와 인트라 프레임에 존재하는 시간축과 공간축의 의존성을 분석함으로써, 패킷 손실로 인한 에러 은닉과 에러 전파에 의한 비디오 화질의 왜곡을 최소화하도록 순방향 에러 정정 코드 (forward error correction, FEC)를 비디오 패킷에 할당한다. 최적의 FEC 패킷을 할당하기 위해서, 우선 패킷 손실로 인한 비디오 화질 저하의 크기를 패킷 왜곡 모델로 정형화한다. 그리고 주어진 채널환경과 패킷 왜곡 모델을 이용하여 적은 계산으로 패킷 정정 율에 비례하는 FEC 패킷 할당 알고리즘을 제안한다. 실험 결과에서, 제안된 알고리즘은 패킷 손실 네트워크 환경에서 많은 비디오 화질 향상을 가져왔으며, 패킷 손실 율의 증가에도 상대적으로 적은 화질 감소를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • TCP에서의 혼잡제어는 패킷 손실이 발생하면 이를 네트워크의 혼잡상황으로 판단해서 전송률을 줄인다. 무선 네트워크에서는 채널 에러로 인해 패킷 손실이 발생하는데, 기존의 유선환경에서의 TCP는 이를 혼잡으로 인한 손실로 착각하여 성능을 떨어뜨리는 결과를 초래한다. 그러므로 유 무선 통합네트워크에서의 TCP 성능 저하를 막기 위해 혼잡손실과 무선손실을 구별하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 기존의 무선 TCP에 대한 연구는 주로 패킷이 전달되는 시간의 변화를 통해 네트워크의 혼잡상황을 유추해서 패킷 손실 시 혼잡손실과 무선손실을 예측하지만, 패킷의 전송시간은 여러 가지 다른 요인에 영향을 받기 때문에 정확한 손실구분은 불가능하다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11 MAC에서 정의하고 있는 MIB(Management Information Base)의 무선손실 정보를 이용하여 유선손실과 무선손실을 구별하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. MAC 계층의 MIB를 수집하여 사용하는 제안된 알고리즘과 패킷의 지연 시간을 이용하는 기존의 알고리즘을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 비교하고 분석한 결과 무선 채널에서의 에러율이 10%인 경우에, Spike 알고리즘에 비해 12%, mBiaz 알고리즘에 비해 32%의 성능 향상을 보였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 압전박막 및 이들의 FBAR소자 응용에 대한 연구를 발표 한다. FBAR소자는 상부 및 하부 전극 사이에 압전체가 삽입되어 있는 공진부와 SiO2/W 이 여러층으로 적층되어 있는 음향반사층부분 크게 두 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 시뮬레이션 및 측정을 통하여 제작된 여러가지 FBAR 소자들을 평가하였다. 실험결과 우수한 삽입손실, 반사손실 및 풀질계수가 얻어졌다. 따라서 FBAR 기술은 RF 대역 필터 응용을 위해서 대단히 유망한 기술로 생각된다.

  • Support vector machine(SVM) approach to regression can be found in information science literature. SVM implements the regularization technique which has been introduced as a way of controlling the smoothness properties of regression function. In this paper, we propose a new estimation method based on quadratic loss SVM for a linear fuzzy regression model of Tanaka's, and furthermore propose a estimation method for nonlinear fuzzy regression. This approach is a very attractive approach to evaluate nonlinear fuzzy model with crisp input and output data.

The Fabrication of a Photonic Crystal Fiber and Measurement of its Properties

  • In this paper, we describe the fabrication process of a photonic crystal fiber and present the measured optical properties of the photonic crystal fiber. The fabrication of the photonic crystal fiber involves stacking, jacketing, collapsing, and drawing using a conventional drawing tower The photonic crystal fiber drawing needs higher tension to maintain the uniform air hole structure. Thus, the temperature of the photonic crystal fiber drawing is lowered by a few hundred degrees Celsius than for the case of conventional optical fiber drawing. The optical properties of the fabricated photonic crystal fiber such as mode profile, optical loss, transmission spectrum, bending loss, and polarization dependent loss are measured.

  • Current major photovoltaic (PV) market share (> 60%) is being occupied by the multicrystalline (mc)-silicon solar cells despite of low efficiency compared to single crystalline silicon solar cells. The diamond wire sawing technology reduces the production cost of crystalline silicon solar cells, it increases the optical loss for the existing mc-silicon solar cells and hence its efficiency is low in the current mass production line. To overcome the optical loss in the mc-crystalline silicon, caused by the diamond wire sawing, next generation texturing process is being investigated by various research groups for the PV industry. In this review, the limitation of surface structure and optical loss due to the reflectivity of conventional mc-silicon solar cells are explained by the typical texturing mechanism. Various texturing technologies that could minimize the optical loss of mc-silicon solar cells are explained. Finally, next generation texturing technology to survive in the fierce cost competition of photovoltaic market is discussed.

Influence of Different Frequency Harmonic Generated by Rectifier on High-speed Permanent Magnet Generator

  • Since the stator winding of High-Speed Permanent Magnet Generator (HSPMG) has few winding turns and low inductance value, it is more prone to be influenced by harmonic current. Moreover, the operation efficiency and the torque stability of HSPMG will be greatly influenced by harmonic current. Taking a 117 kW, 60 000 rpm HSPMG as an example, in order to analyze the effects of harmonic current on HSPMG in this paper, the 2-D finite element electromagnetic field model of the generator was established and the correctness of the model was verified by testing the generator prototype. Based on the model, the losses and torque of the generator under different frequency harmonic current were studied. The change rules of the losses and torque were found out. Based on the analysis of the influence of the harmonic phase angle on torque ripple, it is found that the torque ripple could be weakened through changing the harmonic phase angle. Through the analysis of eddy current density in rotor, the change mechanism of the rotor eddy current loss was revealed. These conclusions can contribute to reduce harmonic loss, prevent demagnetization fault and optimize torque ripple of HSPMG used in distributed power supply system.

  • In this paper, we propose a new neural Buffered Leaky Bucket algorithm for preventing the degradation of network performance caused by congestion and dealing with the traffic congestion in ATM networks. We networks. We justify the validity of the suggested method through performance comparison in aspects of cell loss rate and mean transfer delay under a variety of traffic conditions requiring the different QoS(Quality of Service). also, the cell scheduling algorithms such as DWRR and DWEDF used for multiplexing the incoming traffics are induced to get the delay time of the traffics fairly. The network congestion information from cell scheduler is used to control the predicted traffic loss rate of Neural Leaky Bucket, and token generation rate is changed by the predicted values. The prediction of traffic loss rate by neural networks can effectively reduce the cell loss rate and the cell transfer delay of next incoming cells and be applied to other traffic control systems. Computer simulation results performed for traffic prediction show that QoSs of the various kinds of traffics are increased.

Zero-Current-Switching in Full-Bridge DC-DC Converters Based on Activity Auxiliary Circuit

  • To address the problem of circulating current loss in the traditional zero-current switching (ZCS) full-bridge (FB) DC/DC converter, a ZCS FB DC/DC converter topology and modulation strategy is proposed in this paper. The strategy can achieve ZCS turn on and zero-voltage and zero-current switching (ZVZCS) turn off for the primary switches and realize ZVZCS turn on and zero-voltage switching (ZVS) turn off for the auxiliary switches. Moreover, its resonant circuit power is small. Compared with the traditional phase shift full-bridge converter, the new converter decreases circulating current loss and does not increase the current stress of the primary switches and the voltage stress of the rectifier diodes. The diodes turn off naturally when the current decreases to zero. Thus, neither reverse recovery current nor loss on diodes occurs. In this paper, we analyzed the operating principle, steady-state characteristics and soft-switching conditions and range of the converter in detail. A 740 V/1 kW, 100 kHz experimental prototype was established, verifying the effectiveness of the converter through experimental results.
