This paper investigates the operation of the $H_{\infty}$ static output-feedback controller to reduce dynamic responses under seismic excitation on the five-story and benchmark 20 story building with parametric uncertainties. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) control theory is applied in this system and then to achieve the desired LMI formulations, some transformations of the LMI variables is used. Conversely uncertainties due to material properties, environmental loads such as earthquake and wind hazards make the uncertain system. This problem and its effects are studied in this research. Also to decrease the transition of large amount of data between sensors and controller, avoiding the disruption of whole control system and economy problems, the operation of the decentralized controllers is investigated in this paper. For this purpose the comparison between the performance of the centralized, fully decentralized and partial decentralized controllers in uncoupled and coupled cases is performed. Also, the effect of the changing the number of stories in substructures is considered. Based on the numerical results, the used control algorithm is very robust against the parametric uncertainties and structural responses are decreased considerably in all the control cases but partial decentralized controller in coupled form gets the closest results to the centralized case. The results indicate the high applicability of the used control algorithm in the tall shear buildings to reduce the structural responses and its robustness against the uncertainties.

This paper proposes a method that estimates MIMO channel characteristics analytically using a 3D ray tracing propagation model. We calculate the discrete spatial correlation between sub-channels by considering phase differences of paths, and using this, estimate the mean capacity upper bound of MIMO channel by Jensen's inequality. This analysis model is a deterministic model that do not approach stochastically through measurement nor approach statistically through Monte-Carlo simulations, so this model has high efficiency for time and cost. And based on the electromagnetic theory, this model may analyze quantitatively the parameters which can affect the channel capacity - antenna pattern, polarization mutual coupling, antenna structure and etc. This model may be used for the development of an optimal antenna structure for MIMO systems.
We study Dirichlet forms and the associated diffusion processes for the Gibbs measures related to the quantum unbounded spin systems (lattice boson systems) interacting via superstable and regular potentials. This work is a continuation of the author's previous study on the classical systems [LPY] to the quantum cases. In [LPY], we constructed Dirichlet forms and the associated diffusion processes for the Gibbs measures of classical unbounded spin systems. Furthermore, we also showed the essential self-adjointness of the Dirichlet operator and the log-Sobolev inequality for any Gibbs measure under appropriate conditions on the potentials. In this atudy we try to extend the results of the classical systems to the quantum cases. Because of some technical difficulties, we are only able to construct a Dirichlet form and the associated diffusion process for any Gibbs measure of the quantum systems. We utilize the general scheme of the previous work on the theory in infinite dimensional spaces [AH-K1-2, AKR, AR1-2, Kus, MR, Ro, Sch] and the ideas we employed in our study of the calssical systems ]LPY].

This paper considers the $H_{\infty}$ control problem for networked control systems(NCSs). In order to solve the problem which comes from discontinuous control signal in NCSs, an approach that discontinuous control signals treat time-varying delayed continuous signals is applied to achieve $H_{\infty}$ stability of NCSs. In addition, randomly occurring packet losses and disturbances are considered by introducing stochastic variables with Bernoulli distribution. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a new stability condition is obtained via linear matrix inequality formulation to find the $H_{\infty}$ controller which achieves the mean square stability of NCSs. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a numerical example in order to show the effectiveness of our results.
This paper studies the Cauchy problem and blow-up phenomena for a new generalized Camassa-Holm equation with cubic nonlinearity in the nonhomogeneous Besov spaces. First, by means of the Littlewood-Paley decomposition theory, we investigate the local well-posedness of the equation in $B^s_{p,r}$ with s > $max\{{\frac{1}{p}},\;{\frac{1}{2}},\;1-{\frac{1}{p}}\},\;p,\;r{\in}[0,{\infty}]$. Second, we prove that the equation is locally well-posed in $B^s_{2,r}$ with the critical index $s={\frac{1}{2}}$ by virtue of the logarithmic interpolation inequality and the Osgood's Lemma, and it is shown that the data-to-solution mapping is $H{\ddot{o}}lder$ continuous. Finally, we derive two kinds of blow-up criteria for the strong solution by using induction and the conservative property of m along the characteristics.
In this paper, we deal with the robust mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ guaranteed-cost control problem involving uncertain neutral stochastic distributed delay systems. More precisely, the aim of this problem is to design a robust mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ guaranteed-cost controller such that the close-loop system is stochastic mean-square exponentially stable, and an $H_2$ performance measure upper bound is guaranteed, for a prescribed $H_{\infty}$ attenuation level ${\gamma}$. Therefore, the fast convergence can be fulfilled and the proposed controller is more appealing in engineering practice. Based on the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional theory, new delay-dependent sufficient criteria are proposed to guarantee the existence of a desired robust mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ guaranteed cost controller, which are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Furthermore, the design problem of the optimal robust mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ guaranteed cost controller, which minimized an $H_2$ performance measure upper bound, is transformed into a convex optimization problem with LMIs constraints. Finally, two simulation examples illustrate the design procedure and verify the expected control performance.
Purpose - This study aims to not only investigate spatial pattern of immigrants' residence and crime occurrences in South Korea, but shed light on how geographic distribution of immigrants and immigrant segregation affect crime rates. Research design, data, and methodology - Th unit of analysis is Si-Gun-Gu municipal level entities of South Korea. The crime data was obtained by Korea National Police Agency and two major types(violence and property) of crime were measured. Most demographic, social, and economic variables were derived from Korean Census Data in 2015. In order to examine spatial patterns of immigrants' distribution and crime rates in South Korea, the present study utilized GIS mapping technique and Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis(ESDA) tools. The causal linkage was investigated by a series of regression models using STATA. Results - Spatial inequality between urban metropolitan vs rural areas was visualized by mapping. Assuming large Moran's I value, spatial autocorrelation appeared to be quite strong. Several neighborhood characteristics such as residential stability and economic prosperity were found to be important factors leading to crime rate change. Residential distribution and segregation for immigrants were negatively significant in the regression models. Conclusions - Unlike the traditional arguments of social disorganization theory, immigrant segregation appeared to reduce violent crime rate and the high proportion of immigrants also turned out to be a crime prevention factor.

A novel neural network model, termed the standard neural network model (SNNM), similar to the nominal model in linear robust control theory, is suggested to facilitate the synthesis of controllers for delayed (or non-delayed) nonlinear systems composed of neural networks. The model is composed of a linear dynamic system and a bounded static delayed (or non-delayed) nonlinear operator. Based on the global asymptotic stability analysis of SNNMs, Static state-feedback controller and dynamic output feedback controller are designed for the SNNMs to stabilize the closed-loop systems, respectively. The control design equations are shown to be a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) which can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms to determine the control signals. Most neural-network-based nonlinear systems with time delays or without time delays can be transformed into the SNNMs for controller synthesis in a unified way. Two application examples are given where the SNNMs are employed to synthesize the feedback stabilizing controllers for an SISO nonlinear system modeled by the neural network, and for a chaotic neural network, respectively. Through these examples, it is demonstrated that the SNNM not only makes controller synthesis of neural-network-based systems much easier, but also provides a new approach to the synthesis of the controllers for the other type of nonlinear systems.
The incidence of occupational injuries and diseases associated with industrialization has declined markedly following developments in science and technology, such as engineering controls, protective equipment, safer machinery and processes, and greater adherence to regulations and labor inspections. Although the introduction of health and safety management systems has further decreased the incidence of occupational injuries and diseases, these systems are not effective unless accompanied by a positive safety culture in the workplace. The characteristics of work in the $21^{st}$ century have given rise to new issues related to workers' health, such as new types of work-related disorders, noncommunicable diseases, and inequality in the availability of occupational health services. Overcoming these new and emerging issues requires a culture of prevention at the national level. The present paper addresses: (1) how to change safety cultures in both theory and practice at the level of the workplace; and (2) the role of prevention culture at the national level.
The trend of globalization has sharpened the debate on interculturality, which scholars examine from different and often conflicting points of view ('content' vs. 'practice', 'culture-specific' vs. 'universal', 'communication (meta)theory' vs. 'communication practice', 'individual' vs. 'collective', etc.). Whereas all these approaches are necessary to describe the multiple dimensions of interculturality, their dichotomous nature does not help to account for its internal complexity, which cannot be dissociated from the connections that exist among all these dimensions. The difficulty posed by the essentialist interpretations that tend to result from these dichotomies is compounded by the fact that in postmodern debates priority has been given to approaches that emphasize individual or collective agency over structural constraints which have to do with political economy or with cultural and linguistic codes and traditions. This paper aims mainly at suggesting that the dissolution of the boundaries that exist between these approaches should be pursued in order to get a fuller and richer approach to their common object of study. After discussing, by way of illustration, content-based and practice-based perspectives, we suggest that one way of getting beyond these dichotomies consists in focusing on the 'interactional' dimension of interculturality, which means laying emphasis on intersubjectivity and, particularly, on the individual subjects considered as members of different cultural communities who strive to transcend their sociocultural boundaries in order to reach harmonious interactions in a world in which inequality and the de-territorialization of people and cultures are central features.
